Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Strengthening Bonds

As expected, Wu Hao firmly grasped Yang Mi's ankle with his right hand and slowly lifted her left leg slightly. He removed her cute pink slipper with his left hand and held her foot, gently moving it left and right to ensure she was fine. Instead of letting go, he rested her foot on his thigh and took out a sanitary pad. After unwrapping it, he stuck it onto the pink slipper. Then he carefully took the little foot from his thigh, put the shoe back on, and gently placed it back on the ground. He repeated the same actions with the other foot.

Throughout the process, Yang Mi didn't resist at all. She quietly watched Wu Hao, seemingly unbothered by him touching her feet. However, her increasingly reddened face gave away her true feelings.

Wu Hao raised his head and looked at Yang Mi, observing her blushing face, and smiled. "There you go, Sister Mi. Give it a try, it's absolutely effective." With those words, he stood up, took a step back, and gazed at her tenderly.

Yang Mi adjusted her breathing and composed herself. When Wu Hao addressed her as "Sister Mi" instead of "Senior Mi," she only gave him a playful glance but didn't object.

She took a few steps, and the foot that had been a bit sore felt much better due to the softness of the sanitary pad.

Excitedly, Yang Mi walked around and eventually approached Wu Hao. Thanks to the miraculous effect of the sanitary pad, she forgot her shyness and reached out her hand to pat his back, looking curious. She exclaimed, "It really works! It's so magical! How did you come up with this method? It's incredibly useful!"

"Sister Mi, I didn't lie to you, but it wasn't my own idea. I saw it randomly online before. I just didn't remember until these past few days of rigorous military training made me think of it," Wu Hao explained. The incident was now behind them, and they had an intimate moment. Their relationship had certainly improved, and Wu Hao was in a great mood.

"Well, this method is indeed excellent. I'll buy some too when I go back. Wu Hao, do you need to buy anything else?" Yang Mi asked.

"I don't need to buy anything else," Wu Hao replied, wondering why Yang Mi was asking.

"In that case, why aren't you leaving? You've had a tiring day of military training, so go back and rest," Yang Mi tilted her head and flashed a mischievous smile at Wu Hao.

Wu Hao felt perplexed. Why was she suddenly asking him to leave? Weren't they just getting closer? Refusing to give up, he asked, "I'll wait for you to finish shopping, and then we can leave together. I'll treat you to a drink."

"No need, we're not going in the same direction. Besides, drinks are unhealthy, and I don't drink them. I still need to buy other things," Yang Mi rejected decisively. She even waved her hand, urging him to leave.

Why was she driving him away when she needed to buy something? Wu Hao couldn't figure it out and directly asked, "Sister, what do you need to buy?"

Yang Mi stomped her foot. "Oh my, do you really have to ask so clearly? Just go already!" she said, pushing Wu Hao toward the exit. In her mind, she thought, "Of course, I'm going to buy sanitary pads. Otherwise, why would I come to the convenience store? I don't eat snacks. I'm such a fool."

Wu Hao couldn't resist Yang Mi's command. As he watched her pushing him out of the door, he quickly said, "Mi Jie, I haven't paid yet. Let me finish paying before we leave."

Yang Mi pushed Wu Hao out of the door and then spoke, "I'll treat you. Consider it a way to repay you for telling me about this military training miracle."

"But I can't accept that. It's not right for a girl to treat someone," Wu Hao said.

Yang Mi was embarrassed to directly mention that she was buying intimate items for girls. Just now, she pushed Wu Hao, but when she recalled their previous closeness, she became a little shy. Now, she didn't dare to face Wu Hao with a smile and pretended to be angry, urging him to leave. She even made a fist and gestured as if she was going to hit him.

Wu Hao looked at Yang Mi's adorable appearance and couldn't help but feel ticklish inside. He couldn't resist saying, "Mi Jie, you look so cute!"

Hearing this, Yang Mi blushed even more and quickly pretended to be calm. She turned her face away, pointed her finger in the direction of the boys' dormitory, and said, "Hurry up and go!"

At this point, Wu Hao finally realized that Yang Mi wanted to buy sanitary pads. The large package she was purchasing was probably not for her regular use. She didn't want Wu Hao to see, so she had to drive him away.

Knowing that Yang Mi felt embarrassed, Wu Hao couldn't help but shout out, "Haha, Mi Jie, I know what you're buying now. Oh, and remember to remove the pad from your shoe, don't let the instructor see it!"

Hearing these words while facing away from Wu Hao, Yang Mi froze for a moment before swiftly entering the convenience store without looking back.

Having teased Yang Mi, Wu Hao happily returned to his dormitory.

With the military training miracle in hand, the training became much easier, and it quickly came to an end.

During the two weeks of military training, Wu Hao had a few interactions with Yang Mi. However, each time Yang Mi only smiled and engaged in casual conversation without showing much initiative or enthusiasm. Whenever Wu Hao wanted to ask her out after the training, Yang Mi would use the excuse of being too tired and needing to rest to reject him.

Her attitude toward Wu Hao was no different from how she treated other boys. Of course, among all the boys who could converse with Yang Mi, Wu Hao stood out because of their intimate encounter that night.

Wu Hao didn't even manage to get her phone number. Every time he asked, Yang Mi would say they weren't familiar enough and suggested waiting until school started. When he asked Yuan Shan Shan, she replied that Yang Mi wanted Wu Hao to ask her directly.

September 12th was Yang Mi's birthday, and before the military training began, Wu Hao had deliberately bought her a gift—a string of sunstone bracelets named "Radiant Sunshine." Unfortunately, Yang Mi rejected it.

Upon returning to school, the first thing they did was prepare for the freshman welcome party. The accompaniment was ready, with a solo performance of "Red Dust Inn," but "Little Apple" had accompanying dancers. Wu Hao recruited four girls from his class—Zhou Min, Duanmu Chonghui, Yuan Shan Shan, and Tang Zengxu. Apart from these four, the other eleven girls from the performance class had all gone back to Beijing after the military training.

The choreography for "Little Apple" was straightforward. Wu Hao stood in the center position, with two girls on each side, forming a "V" shape. Then, he raised his right hand, extended his thumb, and wiggled his bottom while pointing at the audience during the chorus.

The four girls laughed when they watched Wu Hao demonstrate the moves. They firmly refused, considering the dance too simplistic and not up to their performance standards. Moreover, they found the dance unattractive and were reluctant to perform it on stage.

Wu Hao didn't mind at all. Without the vocals, the dance did indeed look mediocre. Luckily, the rehearsal room had audio equipment, so Wu Hao played the accompaniment directly and began singing while doing the moves. The reason why "Little Apple" became a popular dance anthem was due to its catchy rhythm. Wu Hao quickly familiarized himself with the dance and started shaking his bottom skillfully.

Watching Wu Hao sing and dance to "Little Apple," especially when he pointed at the four girls during the chorus and even raised his eyebrows, the girls couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Little Apple" was truly addictive and captivating. By the second chorus, the four girls joined in and danced along.

Hehe, success!

After dancing twice, they took a break. Yuan Shan Shan, being more familiar with Wu Hao, couldn't wait to ask, "Wu Hao, whose song is this? It's so interesting and catchy! How come I've never heard it before?"

"You haven't heard it because it's my own song. I asked Huang Teacher to help me produce the accompaniment with Gao Xiaosong. How is it? Not bad, right?" Wu Hao proudly revealed.

Yuan Shan Shan was astonished. "You wrote this song yourself? Really?"

Wu Hao retorted indignantly, "Of course it's true. You can doubt my professional abilities, but you can't doubt my talent!"

Yuan Shan Shan subconsciously doubted his talent. After all, according to common sense, if someone couldn't sing well, they wouldn't be able to write good songs either.

Feeling a bit embarrassed for doubting Wu Hao's talent, Yuan Shan Shan quickly changed the subject to divert attention, "Wu Hao, you're not planning to sing this song for Yang Mi, are you? The song is great, but it's not suitable for her at all."

"Of course not. I have a more suitable song for her. 'Little Apple' is just for warming up the crowd. I wrote another song specifically for Yang Mi. It's a song I poured my heart into, and it's even better!" Wu Hao replied confidently.

Hearing that there was an even better song, the four girls became interested and eagerly asked Wu Hao to sing it.

Wu Hao didn't hold back and changed the accompaniment. He began singing.

After listening to Wu Hao's performance, the four girls applauded to show their appreciation. Then, Yuan Shan Shan commented, "It's a great song, but it's a pity you're the one singing it."

Wu Hao felt like spitting blood, but was Jay Chou a great singer? Okay, when "Red Dust Inn" was released, Jay Chou's singing was indeed great. However, this song was quite challenging. It seemed like he needed to find Gao Xiaosong again and practice intensively.

Tang Zengxu consoled him, "It's okay. Singing can be practiced, but talent is innate. Wu Hao, your songwriting skills are amazing. Even if you don't pursue acting in the future, you can become famous just for your songwriting."

"That's right. We didn't expect that you had such talent, Wu Hao. Both songs are great. Especially 'Red Dust Inn,' I really like it," said Zhou Min, looking at Wu Hao with admiration.

Duanmu Chonghui added, "Yes, both songs are excellent. It's just a shame that you're the one singing them."

The girls burst into laughter, teasing Wu Hao for his singing abilities.

...

After chatting for a while, they resumed practicing. Singing was Wu Hao's job, while the four girls focused on the dance. The main goal was to rehearse the rhythm and synchronize their movements. Since there were no formations involved, there was no need to worry about positioning. They finished the afternoon rehearsal quickly. Wu Hao treated the four girls to dinner as a gesture of gratitude for their help and reminded them not to let Yang Mi find out.

In the following days, whenever Wu Hao found time, he would go to practice with Gao Xiaosong. Gao Xiaosong mentioned that Wu Hao had improved significantly since their last meeting and corrected a few mistakes. Wu Hao continued to practice diligently.
