Chapter 22 - Spellbound

In the quiet neighborhood, a group of intimidating men, led by the fearsome Kojiro, approached the house of the woman that Kazuki had bravely saved earlier. The woman, knowing the danger they posed, refused to open the door, her voice filled with a mixture of fear and defiance.

"Where's the money you owe us?" Kojiro's voice echoed through the closed door, his tone menacing.

The woman's voice trembled as she pleaded for more time to repay her debt. "Please, just give me a little more time. I promise I'll get the money."

Kojiro's cold eyes narrowed, and a cruel smile curled on his lips. Without a moment's hesitation, he turned to Akira, a young and stoic member of the Yakuza who stood beside him. Akira's cold demeanor matched his reputation as an enforcer.

"Take care of her," Kojiro commanded, his voice laced with deadly intent.

Akira silently approached the door, his gaze unflinching. While the scene outside grew tense, Hiroshi, who happened to be passing by, sensed something amiss and hid nearby, ready to intervene if necessary.

Though the details of Akira's actions remained obscured, the air grew heavy with a palpable sense of danger. The woman's terrified screams echoed through the night, a piercing cry that shook Hiroshi to his core.

Unable to bear the sight any longer, he mustered his courage and stepped forward, ready to intervene. However, before he could make a move, a tall figure blocked his path.

It was Akira's best friend, a peculiar boy known for his inability to speak. Despite his lack of words, his imposing presence and the distinctive Yakuza tattoo on his right index finger sent a clear message. He gestured for Hiroshi to remain silent, his index finger pressed against his lips.

Hiroshi's body froze in place, his eyes widening with a mix of fear and confusion. The silent warning from Akira's enigmatic friend made it abundantly clear that interfering would come with dire consequences. Trapped between his desire to help and the overwhelming intimidation, Hiroshi reluctantly acquiesced, his fists clenching in frustration.

In the tense silence, as Hiroshi stood frozen under the watchful gaze of Akira's silent friend, the air crackled with an impending threat. With swift and deliberate movements, Kojiro and Akira closed in on the paralyzed Hiroshi. Kojiro's sinister smirk revealed his sadistic intentions, while Akira's eyes held a cold determination.

In a chilling moment, Akira called out a name that Hiroshi couldn't hear, but his words carried a command that broke the spell that held Hiroshi captive. Suddenly released from his immobilized state, Hiroshi attempted to defend himself, but it was too late. In one swift motion, Akira struck him with a devastating blow that sent Hiroshi crashing to the ground, defeated and motionless.

The Yakuza duo, satisfied with their merciless victory, exchanged a glance before turning away from the lifeless form of Hiroshi. Their footsteps echoed through the night as they disappeared into the darkness, leaving behind a trail of fear and despair.

The tragic encounter had unfolded in an instant, the night enveloped Hiroshi's motionless body, shrouding it in darkness as a chilling reminder of the lengths the Yakuza would go to protect their power and silence anyone who tried to expose them. The streets remained silent, a silent witness to the atrocities committed under the cover of night.
