I turned to him, my gaze meeting his. Yet, his expression didn't look that surprised. And I found myself a tad taken aback by this realization.
"What?" he asked, his voice a mixture of curiosity and concern.
"You're not surprised. I guess you probably knew already."
"Not exactly," he shook his head and shifted slightly on the sofa, his posture relaxed. "I didn't know, but it's true that I wasn't profoundly surprised either."
My gaze lowered, my thoughts echoing his sentiment. "It's honestly quite surreal to hear this. I mean, considering I can't even connect with my wolf, how can I possibly become an alpha?"
"Emma," Alex's voice cut through the night, firm and soothing, "don't undermine yourself. I'm not surprised because I genuinely believe you deserve a chance. Putting aside your father's legacy and our relationship, I believe you have what it takes."
