"What?" Caroline exclaimed in surprise. "But we just tried this dress on, and we want to take it."
The clerk's expression turned contemptuous as she explained, "I'm sorry, miss, but the dress is in high demand. Many people have tried it without the intention of purchasing it. It was just booked, and now it's no longer available."
Caroline's voice rose in frustration, "What do you mean? Are you implying that we can't afford it?"
Feeling a sense of unease, I gently tugged at Caroline's sleeve, not wanting to cause a scene. "It's alright, Caroline," I whispered. "The price is quite steep. I don't think it's worth it anyway."
Caroline turned to me, determination in her eyes. "Emma, don't worry about the money. Alex will pay for it," she reassured me. Then, addressing the clerk, she asked, "May I know who booked this dress? I would like to speak to her."
