Chapter 45 - A Mysterious Encounter

Mark, the beta of Jacob's pack, patrolled the town as part of his daily routine. His tanned skin glistened under the moonlight, and his black hair blew gently in the wind. He possessed a mature aura, carrying the weight of responsibility on his broad shoulders. As the guardian and vessel of powers bestowed upon him by the enigmatic green stone, he felt an insatiable desire to uncover the truth behind the devastating rampage caused by Vishv 18 decades ago. The event had nearly wiped out all supernatural creatures, leaving only werewolves, vampires, and witches as the remnants of a once-diverse world.

During his patrol, Mark's keen senses detected the sound of voices arguing in the distance. Intrigued, he moved swiftly through the streets, transforming into his human form while maintaining his supernatural speed. Within moments, he arrived at the scene where a group of girls had cornered another individual. Their threatening words filled the air, conveying their displeasure over the person's association with a certain Steve.

"We warned you to stay away from Steve, and yet you had the audacity to attend the party with him, holding hands," one of the girls sneered with a tone of warning.

Mark concealed himself, observing the situation carefully. The girl they had cornered appeared unfazed by their threats. Her confident stance and piercing gaze indicated that she wouldn't succumb easily. Sensing her impending retaliation, Mark couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for her strength.

"You know, you're kind of annoying now," the girl retorted sharply, her voice laced with a hint of sarcasm. With lightning speed, she delivered a powerful punch to the face of the girl who had confronted her. Following it up with a swift sidekick to her stomach, she left the girl writhing on the ground, gasping for air. The remaining girls, now filled with fear, took a step back.

Not content with merely defending herself, the girl took control of the situation. "Who's next now?" she challenged, her eyes scanning the girls who were hastily retreating.

"You won't get away with this easily," one of the girls yelled, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and fear.

Undeterred, the girl seized the fallen girl's hair, ensuring her captors had her full attention. "You see, when you issued your warning, I tried to be nice and let it slide. I believe in first impressions, and yours was akin to that of a barking dog," she mocked. "If you or any of your minions dare utter a word about what happened here today, I promise you won't be able to walk normally ever again."

With her message delivered, the girl turned and started walking away, her steps filled with confidence. She couldn't shake off the feeling that someone had been watching the altercation. In a swift motion, she glanced back, but to her surprise, no one was there. The mysterious presence that lingered in the shadows eluded her senses.

Meanwhile, Mark had scaled the nearby building and found himself perched on its rooftop. A look of genuine astonishment adorned his face. The girl's display of strength and self-assurance had left an indelible impression on him. It was rare to witness such fierce determination and physical prowess in someone so young. The encounter piqued his curiosity, and a myriad of questions flooded his mind.
