Amid an unprecedentedly terrifying sound of tearing, the entire train car began to shake violently. In an instant, electric sparks flashed everywhere, and the lights almost simultaneously went out.
The passengers inside the car, upon seeing this scene, thought there had been an accident and showed expressions of fear and panic.
Logan, however, reacted quickly. He had previously heard from Professor X that someone was targeting Rogue, and he understood that it must be an enemy attack. He stood up from his seat almost immediately, looking around with full alertness.
He wasn't the only one. Rogue also seemed to sense the danger. She curled up in her seat nervously, looking around in fear. Fortunately, Cheems was sitting not far from her, which made her feel a bit more at ease.
"Wow, it's lights out."
In contrast to the tense atmosphere, Fang Mo held his daughter with a carefree attitude, saying, "Magneto is about to appear!"
Just then, the metal objects in the car suddenly began to shake violently. All the luggage was pulled to the sides of the car, and the metal items on the passengers were also pulled off. Soon, the entire car started to twist and deform, with the iron doors on both sides of the aisle denting like dough.
Quickly, a large gap was torn open in the car's roof. It was as if two invisible hands were ripping the car apart. Soon, a huge opening appeared at the rear of the car. Almost all the passengers screamed, trying to flee.
At that moment, a black figure descended slowly from outside like a god.
Logan immediately noticed the figure. The chaotic movement of the metal items made him instantly understand the identity of the newcomer—obviously, it was Magneto. Logan focused intently on him, ready to attack at any moment.
The man who had just landed was indeed Magneto. Like Charles, he had aged but remained as powerful as ever. Upon landing inside the car, he quickly noticed the frightened Rogue.
"Found you, little one," Magneto said, smiling with satisfaction upon seeing his target.
He then began to scan the other passengers, his gaze eventually falling on Wolverine. Magneto was momentarily stunned before carefully observing Logan again.
"...Is it you?" Magneto said in surprise, "Are you Logan?"
"You recognize me too?" Logan frowned.
"Surprising indeed. I didn't expect to see an old friend in a place like this," Magneto remarked, "I thought you were dead. It's good to see you again... unless you are standing in my way."
"I can't let you take the girl," Logan said firmly.
"So Charles sent you?" Magneto chuckled. "Does he really think you alone can stop me? You are just a mutant with rapid regeneration, while I can..."
Magneto suddenly stopped mid-sentence, a puzzled look on his face. "Wait, why do you have so much metal in your body?"
Magneto raised his hand towards Logan. Logan tried to resist but felt an overwhelming force lift him into the air. Magneto's fingers moved, and Logan's adamantium claws unsheathed themselves with a pained hiss.
Despite the pain, Logan glared fiercely at Magneto. Surprisingly, Magneto didn't seem pleased.
"You..." Magneto looked at Logan's claws, his expression shifting from confusion to anger. "I didn't expect even you to be subjected to such inhumane modifications. Who did this to you?"
Logan remained silent, only glaring at Magneto.
Seeing this, Magneto relaxed his grip slightly, causing Logan to fall to the ground. After regaining his balance, Logan spoke, "I've heard about you from Professor X. You must be Magneto. I don't know your plans, but I've promised to protect this child. You can't take her."
"You heard about me from Charles?" Magneto felt a strange sense of discord. "Wait, you are indeed Logan, right?"
"Of course," Logan replied with a frown. "But I seem to have lost my memory, so let's skip the small talk."
"Memory loss?" Magneto's expression darkened. "Another result of those modifications, huh? I knew those lunatics wouldn't spare us. The Red Devil, you, and others... Damn it, Charles is too soft!"
"Lunatics? Which lunatics?" Logan asked.
"Humans, of course."
Magneto said somberly, "Humans have always sought to bring us to our demise. This conflict is now unavoidable. I have been fighting alone for so long... I greatly need Charles's power, but he has never helped me, and even keeps stopping me, like right now."
"So, you mean... you want to resolve the conflict between mutants and humans?"
Logan was taken aback by the response.
"Of course," Magneto nodded, but quickly frowned as he looked at the panicked crowd around them. "But... this is not the place to discuss it. Logan, if you're interested, I welcome you to visit my base. Of course, you must bring this child with you."
At this point, Magneto glanced at Rogue again.
"I've said, no matter what, I won't let you take her." Logan sternly replied, frowning, "If you welcome me, I'll come alone."
"Is that so?" Magneto nodded and then slowly shook his head. "Then it seems there's nothing more to discuss."
Logan immediately realized what was happening; it was clear Magneto was about to act. Logan lunged forward, his six adamantium claws aiming straight for Magneto's face.
However, it was useless. Magneto's powers completely countered Logan. With a casual wave of his hand, Logan was suddenly suspended in mid-air. The next second, Magneto smiled as he forced the adamantium claws back into Logan's arms with his magnetic powers, leaving Logan dangling awkwardly.
"We can catch up later," Magneto said calmly as he approached Rogue. "Of course, first, I need to complete my plan..."
Before Magneto could finish his sentence, he suddenly heard a menacing dog bark. A large yellow Shiba Inu leaped from behind a seat towards Magneto. Strangely, the dog didn't bite but instead used its front paws to wield a baseball bat, performing a bizarrely human-like jump strike.
"Watch out! This dog is too strong!" someone shouted faintly from behind.
But Magneto was unperturbed. To him, it was just a strange dog. With a casual wave of his hand, a metal handle flew over and struck the dog, sending it flying to the side.
The dog let out a pitiful yelp mid-air and landed on a nearby seat, lying still.
"Cheems!" Rogue cried out in alarm.
"Alright, child," Magneto said, turning back to Rogue with a smile after dealing with the dog. "If you don't want more casualties, I suggest you listen..."
But at that moment, Magneto suddenly felt a chilling sensation.
"Oh, is that so?" A familiar voice rang out unexpectedly, causing Magneto to freeze. He then saw a face he couldn't forget emerge from behind a young girl.
"Is it you?!"
Magneto stood there, stunned as if struck by lightning.
"Hello, old friend," Fang Mo said with a cryptic smile. "It seems you've grown bold in these decades, even daring to attack my dog... right, Erik?"
"You..." Magneto looked at Fang Mo in disbelief.
Honestly, seeing Logan had already brought back memories of decades past, when he and Charles had not yet parted ways and had teamed up to defeat the Black King, Sebastian Shaw. All those experiences seemed vivid again.
And among those memories was Fang Mo, whose god-like powers had always haunted Erik.
Erik had spent countless sleepless nights thinking about what if he had Fang Mo's power... he might have resolved the conflict between mutants and humans completely.
He had also wondered what would happen if Fang Mo ever returned.
But after decades, even Charles had given up on having Fang Mo heal his legs, and Erik thought the same... he believed Fang Mo would never return.
Yet today, Fang Mo stood here alive and well.
Honestly, at the sight of Fang Mo, Erik's mind went blank. Fang Mo was like an unpredictable time bomb, capable of blowing up all his plans, yet he also represented a tremendous opportunity.
"I thought you would never return, Fang Mo."
Sure enough, as much as he wanted to, Eric was now older and wiser, with emotional intelligence and responsiveness significantly stronger than when he was younger. Almost immediately, he began to reminisce and get close with Fang Mo: "Seeing you really makes me happy... As for what just happened, I think it was just a misunderstanding."
"Really?"
Fang Mo smiled noncommittally: "But I just heard that you didn't want to catch up."
"Uh..."
"I see you've become quite the chatterbox lately." Without waiting for a response, Fang Mo directly interrupted him, pointing to the little dog beside him: "See that? Even the dog died listening to you. Do you think what you said still sounds human?"
"No, that's not..."
Hearing this, Magneto also started to get a headache. Was the dog really killed by his words? It was clearly beaten to death... But he couldn't admit it now.
"Woof?"
Just as he was thinking about this, the dog slowly got up from its place, looking around as if nothing had happened.
Normally, Magneto would be very unhappy that his attack couldn't even kill a dog. But at this moment, he was extremely relieved, letting out a sigh of relief and saying: "You see, it seems to be fine, so I said it was a misunderstanding."
"..."
Fang Mo looked speechlessly at the little dog beside him.
This guy is really a bit stupid. Normally, it should stay put even if it wasn't hurt, having been with him for so long and still not learning even such a simple trick.
"We haven't seen each other for decades, right?"
Perhaps still feeling guilty, Magneto's attitude was noticeably kinder than before, completely different from when he was dealing with Logan earlier: "So, do you have time to visit me? This old friend of yours has a lot to say..."
"Visit you..."
"Wait a minute?"
Before Fang Mo could respond, Magneto suddenly noticed the little girl in Fang Mo's arms, specifically her dragon horns and tail: "Is this child a mutant too? She looks so cute, is she your daughter..."
"Roar!"
Magneto had just said half a sentence.
The little girl in Fang Mo's arms suddenly attacked without warning.
A bright purple beam shot out, and Magneto instantly felt the breath of death rushing towards him. He had no time to care about his image, instinctively diving to the ground.
The purple beam flew past his head, leaving devastation in its wake, even blasting a huge hole in the roof of the train station opposite, before disappearing straight into the sky.
"What... what the hell is that?"
Magneto looked back at the train station, still shaken.
In the next moment, he felt something hit his head with a bang, followed by an inexplicable pain.
Because he was wearing a helmet, he wasn't seriously injured.
Looking up, Magneto was shocked to see the little dog standing in front of him, holding a wooden stick, looking at him with an indescribable expression—both timid and bold, with a hint of helplessness.
"..."
At this moment, Magneto suddenly thought of Charles.
A complex mix of humiliation, anger, and a strange nostalgia surged in his heart.
Seeing that Magneto was looking at it, the little dog immediately dropped the stick and ran back, looking up at the little girl who happily giggled back at it.
"When did you two become so close?"
At this point, Fang Mo couldn't help but comment, pulling Magneto's attention back.
"Cough, cough..."
He awkwardly got up from the ground, dusting himself off nonchalantly, and was noticeably more docile, saying nothing about what just happened: "So, do you want to visit my place?"
"And the little girl..."
"I've changed my mind. You can let Logan take her back." Eric immediately said, "And please give Charles my regards."
"Emmm..."
Fang Mo was still pondering, but at that moment, he heard a system prompt in his mind.
[System Prompt: New module feature detected. Researching it grants download permissions.]
"Hmm?"
Hearing this, Fang Mo was clearly a bit surprised and looked at Magneto in front of him. It was obvious that this module was triggered by him. After decades, this old Magneto had gained a new module?
"What do you think?"
Eric, unaware of the seriousness, still smiled and asked, "Would you honor me?"
"Heh heh, alright."
Fang Mo's attitude immediately did a 180-degree turn.
