Staring at the golden book in his hand, various scenes began to float in Fang Mo's mind. He had indeed watched Naruto, but his knowledge was limited to a casual viewing, and he couldn't recall every detail vividly.
In Fang Mo's memory, Naruto could be summarized as a family drama of the Uchiha clan. He could remember some character names, like Tsunade, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Rin, Konan, Hinata, and others. However, he had no idea about their birth years or ages.
But that was not a problem. Soon, Fang Mo would find out.
With a thought, Steve immediately began organizing his items. After mining and smelting countless ores, Steve had gained a considerable amount of experience points, and the "super-sized backpack" mod allowed him to use experience to increase his inventory space.
As a result, Steve's backpack capacity had become quite exaggerated. Coupled with items like the alchemy bag and ender chest, he could almost pack up and carry half of a small house.
This time, Fang Mo deliberately prepared a Lucky Block, just in case of any unexpected returns. He didn't want to experience a situation where he had to deal with the Third Ninja War to the Fourth Ninja War again. Even Madara would shake his head at such a predicament.
After organizing everything, Fang Mo immediately had Steve open the Book of Ages.
Familiar particle-like black mist surged from the book, engulfing Fang Mo and Steve.
Soon, the feeling of weightlessness vanished, and Fang Mo opened his eyes, finding himself in a vast forest. Damp and cold mist filled the woods, permeated with the scent of decaying leaves.
"Oh, a forest as the starting scene?"
Fang Mo commented while looking around. The trees here were impressively tall and majestic. After all, this was an anime world, significantly different from the real world. These trees were already extraordinary. Earth didn't have such grand and lush giant forests. However, in the Naruto world, such sights were quite common. It felt like the soil here was enriched with... well, chakra-infused.
Not knowing his exact location, Fang Mo decided to explore the nearby area.
During his exploration, he unexpectedly discovered something.
Not far from the riverbank, a small figure sat, looking desperate as she leaned against a large rock. Her clothes were stained with blood, and she used her hand to cover her stomach. A faint green light emanated from her hand, indicating that she was trying to heal her wound. However, the effect seemed limited, as fresh blood continued to ooze from between her fingers.
"I... I don't want to die..."
Seeing her stomach wound continuously bleeding, the girl appeared terrified. Her voice trembled as she pleaded, "Please... please don't let me die..."
Fang Mo then noticed some details about her.
On her forehead, she had a metal plate with the Konoha symbol, resembling a small whirlpool. Additionally, her eyes were white, with hardly any distinction between the iris and sclera. At first glance, it seemed like she was rolling her eyes in fear.
Clearly, she was a member of the Hyuga clan.
Realizing this, Fang Mo instantly appeared in front of her.
"!"
Startled by the sudden appearance of a stranger, the girl seemed frightened. She tried to get up, but it appeared she accidentally injured herself further or ruptured an internal artery. Suddenly, she spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed at Fang Mo's feet.
"Can't you just stay still when you're about to die?"
Fang Mo sighed helplessly. He squatted down, held the girl's chin, and took out a healing potion to give her. "Come on, open your mouth and drink this."
"..."
To his surprise, the girl looked at him fearfully and tightly closed her mouth, as if she were a girl giving the silent treatment to her boyfriend. It was as if she had something to prove by not opening her mouth—even though she was about to die, It was exasperating.
"Why won't you open your mouth to drink the potion? Damn it, you're about to die!"
Fang Mo was astonished. The girl had just said she didn't want to die, yet now she refused to take the potion that could save her life. "Drink it! Why won't you drink it? I swear... if you don't drink it, you won't make it!"
Feeling helpless, Fang Mo had no choice but to forcefully open her mouth and pour the potion in.
As it was an instantaneous healing potion, the girl's injuries began to rapidly heal. Even the gushing wound on her stomach stopped bleeding. Though not entirely healed, her life was saved.
"My wound... it doesn't hurt anymore?"
Once the wounds were healed, the girl seemed to finally react. She looked at Fang Mo in astonishment and asked in a shaky voice, "You... aren't you a ghost...? Did you save me?"
"I saved your life out of the goodness of my heart, and you say I'm a ghost?"
Fang Mo was taken aback and couldn't help but explain, "Listen... now that you've figured it out, I won't pretend anymore. I am the infamous, pleasure-seeking evil ghost. Seeing you about to die, I decided to save you and take you back as my bride."
"Huh? You... So you're really a ghost?"
The girl's expression turned fearful again. "No wonder you don't have any chakra in your body... I thought I was about to die, and this was just a hallucination."
"Huh?"
Hearing her explanation, Fang Mo finally understood what was going on.
Yes, in Naruto, the Byakugan functioned as an observation and penetrating ability. It was like combining X-ray vision with a telescope. It could not only observe distant terrain but also penetrate a person's body to see their chakra network.
But Fang Mo wasn't a character from the Naruto world, so how could he have a chakra network?
"So you can see the internal structure of my body?" Fang Mo asked.
"...I think I can," the girl said uncertainly. "Why do you ask?"
"What does my body look like on the inside?" Fang Mo couldn't help but ask curiously. "Can you see my organs? Do I still have a heartbeat?"
"..."
The girl didn't answer but stared at Fang Mo with a frightened look.
"This is weird... can we talk properly?" Fang Mo said helplessly, rubbing his forehead. "Don't make me guess based on your expression. I nearly vomited from trying to guess the crafting recipes the other day..."
"Aren't you already aware that you're a ghost?" The girl stared at Fang Mo nervously, her voice trembling as if about to cry. "Why... are you asking me such strange questions?"
"Huh?" Hearing this, Fang Mo finally understood what was going on.
He must have lost all his internal organs, considering his body had been digitized before. He was probably just a spiritual entity of rules now, not needing any of the human body's necessities.
But that didn't make sense.
Fang Mo had experimented with this before.
Even after performing Five Dragons Around the Pillar to his heart's content, why was he still...uh, functional in certain aspects? (Note: lol)
"Ahhhhh, this is getting strange."
Fang Mo absentmindedly touched his chin. It seemed he would have to dissect himself when he had the chance. He also needed to find Orochimaru to borrow a microscope and see how intact his little...uh, balls were. It wouldn't do for them to turn into mosaic cubes while he was twisting them in a Petri dish. That would be too embarrassing.
But that was all a matter for later.
For now, he needed to clarify some things with the girl in front of him.
Thinking about this, Fang Mo took another look at the girl. She seemed to be in her early teens, with baby fat still on her face. Under normal circumstances, it was impossible for a person to die in the forest alone. It was evident that the current time and situation didn't match.
"Um, I have some questions for you."
Fang Mo thought for a moment and then asked directly, "What year is it now? Where are we? And what's your name?"
