Fang Mo was certain that he couldn't consider himself a morally upright person. Why else would he desperately delete his phone records before his death?
He had immersed himself in a vast array of literary works and videos, exploring various themes from A to Z, exposing himself to almost every genre. Fang Mo recognized that he was like an abyss, and even when confronted with his own reflection, he would awkwardly look away.
Despite this, he remained a strong advocate of pure love, with no romantic feelings for the White Queen, or at most, he could only appreciate women.
Men might deceive, but his younger brother would never mislead anyone. Fang Mo believed that after completing the X-Men storyline, it was time to venture into the realm of anime, preferably with a slightly more appealing art style, to find genuine enjoyment.
"So... you're only interested in knowing Shaw's whereabouts?" Emma looked at Fang Mo in surprise, taken aback by the response. "You're not actually interested in me?"
"The only thing I'm interested in when it comes to you is whether you can be transformed into a diamond pickaxe." Fang Mo shrugged.
Emma didn't say anything, just stared at Fang Mo with a strange expression. She now had some doubts that eighteen years ago, not only was Shaw 'injured' in that battle, but Fang Mo probably suffered a similar 'injury' as well. After all, the way these two individuals treated her was surprisingly consistent, and they both went to great lengths to find each other.
"Hmm?" Fang Mo also noticed Emma's gaze and furrowed his eyebrows. "Wait, are you thinking something inappropriate?"
"I'm not!" Emma couldn't admit it. It would be terrible, so she quickly shook her head.
Before Fang Mo could speak, she immediately continued, "You just want to know Shaw's location, right? I can tell you that he should be in a military resort in the Soviet Union. He's trying to persuade the top military officials to establish a missile base in Cuba, attempting to provoke a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the Allied forces..."
"To provoke a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the Allied forces, huh?" Fang Mo nodded. He did recall hearing about that. It wasn't much different from the original storyline.
"I was supposed to go," Emma said, "After all, my ability is telepathy, which would be more convenient for influencing the top Soviet military officials. But Shaw changed his mind at the last minute and had me use my telepathy to recruit your team of mutants instead."
"Some of my people have already gone to the Soviet Union, but I doubt they can handle Sebastian." Fang Mo lowered his head in thought and then said, "He should have a nuclear submarine, right? Do you know if the reactor on board is fusion or fission?"
"Why do you ask about that?" Emma looked at Fang Mo with confusion. "Don't you care about preventing a nuclear war?"
"Why should I care about a nuclear war?" Fang Mo shrugged. "It's not something I initiated. Whenever someone creates a doomsday crisis, does everyone expect me to clean up the mess? Today, Sebastian plans to destroy the world, I intervene and solve it, tomorrow another Seth Sebastian pops up, and the day after that an Indiangebathian emerges. Do I have to solve all of them?"
Upon hearing Fang Mo's words, Emma also froze for a moment.
"In any case, I'm not interested in what Sebastian wants to do," Fang Mo continued. "I just want to know where his nuclear submarine is and whether it's powered by fusion or fission."
"It has a fission reactor that requires regular refueling," Emma said, "As for the exact location, we're not sure, but according to his plan, he should appear near the Cuban embargo line..."
"A fission reactor, huh." Upon hearing this, Fang Mo felt a wave of disappointment. He had expected to be in the world of the X-Men with its advanced technology. Perhaps Sebastian could have a fusion reactor, but now it seemed he had set his expectations too high. Since that was the case, Sebastian's whereabouts seemed less significant. Instead of continuing to pursue Sebastian, it might be better to find a hydrogen bomb to play with and see if he could unlock the mod with the 40% progress. As for Sebastian's plan to destroy the world...
Charles was such a compassionate person, always rushing in when faced with such situations.
"You seem somewhat disappointed," Emma observed the change in Fang Mo's expression and asked curiously. "Is it because it's not a fusion reactor? Do you really need that?"
"Well..." Fang Mo rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "It seems like I don't really need it that much. After all, my power is sufficient in that regard."
"But you seem quite obsessed with it," Emma looked puzzled. "I thought it was important to you, like how Shaw needs to absorb energy to stay young."
"I'm not the same kind of person as Sebastian." Fang Mo shook his head. "Or to put it another way, I'm fundamentally different from all of you."
"Why?" Emma asked.
"Charles wants to fulfill his dream, Sebastian has his ambitions, Erik only cares about his revenge... even those young mutant children have their own concerns, right?"
"Dreams, ambitions, revenge, concerns... You need to find at least one of these four goals to have the motivation to live in this world."
Fang Mo said, looking at Emma, his tone and demeanor completely different from usual, becoming slow and calm. "Right now, I am in a dangerous period without any goals. So I must occasionally find some amusement to keep myself awake, or else I fear something terrifying will happen."
"Your vigilance is too strong." Emma looked at Fang Mo and noticed a sense of emptiness in his eyes, which was slowly transforming into something even more terrifying. "I can sense your wariness and resistance, albeit faintly. Perhaps... you should try opening your heart to others."
"Would you open your heart to an ant?" Fang Mo retorted.
"I..." Emma hesitated for a moment.
"Do you know why I didn't kill you?" Before Emma could say anything, Fang Mo suddenly asked.
"Because you wanted to extract Shaw's information?" Emma guessed.
"I could have obtained Shaw's whereabouts through other means even if I had killed you," Fang Mo said slowly, shaking his head.
"Then why?"
"I quite enjoy your psychic attacks," Fang Mo smiled slightly, revealing a fact that sent shivers down Emma's spine. "It reminds me that I'm still a flesh-and-blood person, rather than a terrifying being that transcends it..."
"Give me a few more rounds; I want to get a good night's sleep."
...
The next day arrived swiftly. As Fang Mo had anticipated, Charles and Erik were unsuccessful. They returned to the CIA base looking disheveled and were shocked to find that it, too, had been attacked. They hurriedly entered the base, filled with anxiety, and discovered people everywhere tending to corpses. The testing grounds had been reduced to ruins, stained with dried blood. Just as they were deeply worried, they caught sight of the young mutants assisting not far away.
Seeing that the children were unharmed, both of them finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Shortly after, they learned about the events that unfolded here last night—the invasion by the Hellfire Club. Logan fought the Red Devil to protect them
, and then Fang Mo unleashed his godlike power.
Fortunately, the flames summoned by Fang Mo did not harm their allies.
After hearing that Logan had apprehended the Red Devil, Charles immediately went to see him, utilizing his telepathic abilities to examine his memories.
Upon seeing the memories, he nearly broke out in a cold sweat.
Now Charles finally understood why Fang Mo had spared him. Otherwise, if Fang Mo had struck his head, his brain would have burst open like a watermelon.
"Where is the White Queen, Emma?" After taking custody of the Red Devil, Charles promptly inquired of Logan.
"She's in Fang Mo's room." Logan took a puff of his cigar. "I advise you not to disturb him at a time like this..."
But before Logan could finish his sentence, Emma emerged from around a corner.
"It seems like it's all over."
Charles breathed a sigh of relief and quickly approached Emma along with Erik.
"It appears that you have failed," Emma said without waiting for Charles to speak. "I suppose you underestimated Shaw's abilities, but you do possess some skills to escape his clutches alive."
"To be honest, we accidentally let him slip away," Erik took over the conversation. "But now we have a general idea of his capabilities, and he won't be able to evade us next time."
"But to find him again, we might need a little assistance from you," Charles also added, "He's planning something incredibly dreadful, and I must find a way to stop him, no matter what."
"Shaw does indeed have a flawless plan," Emma smiled faintly. "But if we're talking about something horrifying, I believe the one by your side is even more terrifying... Haven't you ever paid serious attention to him?"
"The one by our side?" Charles and Erik exchanged glances. "Are you referring to... Fang Mo?"
"Shaw wants to create a new world, but even he relies on schemes and other petty tricks. Fang Mo, however, is different," Emma said slowly. "If Fang Mo wants to accomplish something, there is no one in this world who can stop him."
