Logan grabbed Fang Mo's collar and got really excited. He even dropped his cigar, saying, "Your stupid Titanic fell apart just five minutes after you left! Do you have any idea how long I was stuck at sea?"
Coughing, Fang Mo admitted, "Yeah, it's my fault."
Fang Mo saw how worked up Logan was and could only rub his forehead helplessly, saying, "But I was tricked too, you know."
Fang Mo had been thinking about timelines for the past few days and now had some clues. He used to think there was a problem with the timeline of the X-Men's world, but after careful consideration, he had a new idea.
The first time Fang Mo entered the Marvel Universe, he ended up in a cave in Afghanistan and saw Iron Man being born. Then he got involved in the Hulk's story. When Fang Mo entered the Marvel Universe for the second time, Thor's hammer mysteriously appeared at his feet. He helped Thor with an Asgardian issue, and then the Battle of New York from the first Avengers movie started almost right away.
At first, Fang Mo thought there was a time difference between the two worlds. But after experiencing eighteen years of the X-Men's timeline, Fang Mo had a new perspective.
He traveled to other universes using the "Book of Ages." In the Mystcraft module, the "Book of Ages" didn't just cross space; it also seemed to span different periods of time. So Fang Mo started to doubt. Was he always ending up near important events?
For example, in the X-Men's world, Fang Mo destroyed Sebastian's base in Nazi territory and witnessed the power of nuclear weapons with Wolverine. During that time, he accidentally unlocked the bamboo module and wanted to go back to use the Lucky Block for some rewards.
All of this happened in an instant. But when Fang Mo returned, he realized eighteen years had passed, and he coincidentally caught up with Professor X and Magneto's plot to arrest Sebastian Shaw.
Maybe one or two times could be a coincidence, but every time Fang Mo traveled, he encountered these storylines... It was just too strange, right?
"What?" Logan couldn't believe what Fang Mo was saying. "You're telling me you got tricked too?"
"I mean it literally," Fang Mo explained helplessly. "I activated the teleportation, but the nuclear explosion created a strong electromagnetic field that messed up the stability of the portal. I got caught in a spatial turbulence and only managed to escape a few days ago."
Logan stared at Fang Mo, clearly not buying his explanation.
"Look at me now," Fang Mo continued jokingly. "This world should have moved forward eighteen years, right? Do you see any changes in my face? And look at the clothes I'm wearing... don't they look familiar?"
"Hmm?" Logan hesitated for a moment. Fang Mo was indeed wearing the same combat uniform from eighteen years ago, and he hadn't aged at all.
"Aren't you supposed to be all-powerful? How did you get caught in some time turbulence?" Logan furrowed his brow, still skeptical.
"I've never teleported near nuclear weapons before," Fang Mo shrugged. "What can I do? I didn't know."
"Sir, what Fang Mo said might be true," Charles intervened. "A few days ago, during a military operation, Fang Mo suddenly appeared on the warship and asked the soldiers what year it was."
When Logan heard this, he let go of Fang Mo, whom he had been suspicious of.
"How did you find me?" Logan leaned back in his seat, took a sip of his drink, and asked. "Did you use your superpowers again?"
"It was actually them this time," Fang Mo sat next to Logan and pointed at Charles and Erik.
"Your friends?" Logan glanced at the two of them.
"They can be considered partners," Fang Mo shrugged. "Anyway, I'm currently chasing a guy named Sebastian, but it's hard to do it alone. So, I formed a team with them. And I thought I'd invite you too."
"You're not trying to trick me again, are you?" Logan became alert. "I don't want to spend more years stranded at sea."
"How can it be called a trick when it involves mutants?" Fang Mo said straightforwardly. "Let me tell you, if you join, you can have all the best drinks you want, and you might even attract some ladies."
"I'm in." Logan immediately put out his cigar and agreed.
With Logan on board, Charles' team was complete, consisting of Professor X Charles, Magneto Erik, Mystique, Beast, Banshee, Angel, Havok, Darwin, Wolverine, and The Celestial.
The CIA assigned a special area for the mutants to operate.
Evening came quickly, and Charles gathered everyone together to get acquainted.
But just as they gathered, CIA agent Mora approached and informed them that they had found Sebastian's location. The higher-ups were discussing strategies, so Charles immediately informed Erik and Fang Mo of the news and prepared to go to the conference room together.
However, Charles was surprised when Fang Mo showed no interest in going to the conference room.
"You two can handle this little matter," Fang Mo lazily lounged on the sofa. "I'll stay here and keep an eye on these kids."
"They are not kids," Charles defended them. "I believe in these young people. They are exceptional in their own ways, and they will definitely surprise us."
"Would blowing up the entire base count as a surprise?" Fang Mo recalled a scene from the original work and almost burst into laughter. "And then sitting amidst the ruins, drinking alcohol, going crazy like addicts?"
"What are you saying?" Charles was taken aback.
"If you really think that's a surprise, then I'm game," Fang Mo said with a smile. "I've recently learned a new skill called Wood Release: Wood Human. If you don't mind, I can show you a few tricks."
"Let's forget about it," Charles felt his eyelids twitch upon hearing that. "Since you don't want to go, could you please look after these kids for me? I'll be back soon."
"Go ahead," Fang Mo waved his hand, showing no intention of getting up.
Charles sighed and massaged his temples, feeling helpless in dealing with Fang Mo. The only option he had was to ask Erik to join him in the conference room.
Once Charles and Erik left, the young mutants, who were initially reserved, started to become more active and engaged in hesitant conversations. However, their discussions mostly revolved around trivial topics like TV shows and everyday life, which became quite boring.
Meanwhile, Logan sat alone at a distant bar, munching on peanuts, sipping whiskey, and occasionally puffing on a cigar, blowing smoke into the air.
At that moment, Raven, also known as Mystique, felt it was a good opportunity to bring up the topic of mutant code names.
"We should choose code names," she suggested.
With a smile, Raven addressed the group, "Since we're now working as government agents, it makes sense for us to have code names. I'll go with Mystique."
"Aw, I wanted to be Mystique too," Sean complained.
"Sorry, I already decided on that one," Raven replied.
Raven smiled cunningly and activated her power, rapidly transforming her body. Blue scales appeared on her skin, and within seconds, she took on
Sean's appearance, even winking at him.
"Wow!" Sean exclaimed, amazed and clapping his hands.
"Okay, who's next?" Raven declared, looking at a black guy. "Darwin, what's your power?"
"My ability is Darwin," he shrugged, approaching a nearby fish tank. "It's about survival of the fittest."
He then submerged his head into the fish tank. Gills quickly formed on his cheeks, enabling him to breathe underwater. All the while, he made a funny face at the others.
The group applauded and cheered.
Darwin eventually emerged from the fish tank, shook off the water from his head, and returned to the couch. Turning to Sean, he asked, "And what about you? What's your power?"
"I... want to be called Banshee," Sean replied.
"Why choose a name based on a wailing spirit?" Hank asked curiously.
Sean didn't say anything. Instead, he stood up, opened his mouth, and unleashed a powerful sound wave that shattered a nearby giant glass window instantly.
The others cheered in response.
After Sean, the rest of the group quickly shared their own powers. Angel could fly and shoot fireballs, while Alex could emit energy rings that were hard to control.
Once everyone finished sharing their abilities, the attention naturally turned to Logan and Fang Mo.
Logan was straightforward. Although he hadn't lost his memory yet, he wasn't particularly friendly towards people his age. Impatiently taking a sip of whiskey, he reluctantly revealed his bone claws.
After Logan demonstrated his abilities, the eager youngsters shifted their attention to Fang Mo.
"Hey, Raven," Sean whispered, "You seem to know Charles well. Do you know what that mutant guy's power is? You even gave him the code name 'Celestial,' which sounds so cool!"
"No... I never said that was his code name," Raven cautiously replied, glancing at Fang Mo. She couldn't help but remember the sight of him effortlessly defeating Charles and the blood-stained little wooden stick. Swallowing nervously, she continued, "Honestly, you might not believe it, but I think he..."
"He is one."
