Charles has always believed that telepathy is the most amazing mutant power. Unlike other abilities, telepathy doesn't change how someone looks or provide immediate advantages. Charles thinks that he can handle any situation with his telepathic abilities, whether it's facing armed criminals or self-righteous politicians.
Telepathy is unique because it works silently, making it hard for most mutants to detect. One small mistake, and they are under its control. Charles's ability goes beyond telepathy; he can hypnotize, control, and attack enemies on a psychic level. Because of the special nature of telepathy, very few people can resist his attacks.
But everything changed when Fang Mo appeared. He shattered Charles's beliefs. Fang Mo's mental world was vast beyond anything Charles had seen before. If Charles's psychic power was like a never-ending river, Fang Mo was like a vast will made up of countless converging spirits, like a whole world.
Even Charles, who thought he was a genius, couldn't use his abilities on Fang Mo without being noticed. In that moment, facing Fang Mo, who was incredibly powerful both physically and mentally, Charles realized that there were limits to individual power. To surpass these limits, he needed to form a team.
So he turned his attention to Erik, also known as Magneto, who was by his side. Charles had secretly looked into Erik's memories and discovered that he had suffered as a child under the Nazis. Charles also learned about the terrible things Sebastian Shaw had done to him.
Therefore, Charles decided to bring Erik into his team before anything else. It turned out to be just as Charles expected. After the recent assassination attempt, Erik realized that Sebastian Shaw had companions, and defeating Shaw alone would be difficult for him.
Erik nodded and accepted Charles's invitation to join the team.
However, Fang Mo, who had witnessed everything, had a different opinion. In Fang Mo's view, young Charles was lacking. He seemed to have never learned to respect others' privacy. Unfortunately, it seemed that others didn't feel the same way.
People like Mystique (Raven Darkholme), Erik (Magneto), and even high-ranking CIA officials and Agent Mora, who specialized in investigating the Hellfire Club, didn't share Fang Mo's view.
Eventually, Charles reached an agreement with the CIA. They had a common goal in capturing Sebastian Shaw, so high-ranking officials approved a secret base for Charles.
With support from different sides, Charles finally turned his attention back to Fang Mo.
"I apologize for what happened before." Despite having bandages on his head, Charles went to Fang Mo's place and sincerely said, "I shouldn't have invaded your thoughts without permission. Please believe me, it was just an instinctive reaction."
"Hey, we're all mutants. Why are you apologizing?"
Fang Mo laughed and casually patted Charles on the shoulder. "I'm just naturally sensitive. Just remember not to use your abilities on me again."
Hearing Fang Mo's words, Charles felt relieved. But before he could say "thank you," Fang Mo added something.
"But let me make this clear. If you ever dare to read my mind again, I will immediately crush you, squeeze you, and bring you down to the ground."
Fang Mo smiled and looked at Charles. "And trust me, it would be purely instinctive reaction."

"..."
When Charles heard this, he got a headache. He could tell that Fang Mo was serious even without using telepathy. Charles had learned about Fang Mo's past accomplishments through communication with the CIA, such as destroying Auschwitz eighteen years ago.
The authorities didn't know the exact details of Fang Mo's mutant abilities, but they could see from the evidence that he had killed many people. He was clearly a major threat, comparable to a nuclear weapon.
In the midst of the Cold War, the US leadership didn't want to provoke such a dangerous individual. Their order was to find a way to win Fang Mo over.
Charles agreed with this approach. Fang Mo's power was unbelievable, and having him on their side would be a tremendous advantage. However, Fang Mo's difficult personality made it challenging to communicate with him without using telepathy.
Unexpectedly, Erik volunteered to talk to Fang Mo. Charles had some concerns but didn't have any other options. It was his own fault for prying into Fang Mo's mind earlier and losing his trust. He had to rely on Erik to give it a try.
Shortly after Charles left, Erik knocked on the door again.
"I heard you fought Sebastian eighteen years ago," Erik said, getting straight to the point. "Your battle even destroyed that concentration camp. Why didn't you kill him?"
"I used the wrong skill," Fang Mo replied casually, playing with some white candles. "I wanted to cosplay as Pain and copy his moves, but the power was too strong, and I lost track of him."
"The wrong skill?" Erik paused. "What do you mean?"
"He was trying to show off to me," Fang Mo explained, standing up and placing the white candles carefully. "I can't stand it when someone tries to show off, so I gave him a big blast. It had a wide range, but it wasn't focused enough, and he accidentally escaped... By the way, do you have fire?"
Confused, Erik handed Fang Mo a lighter.
"Thanks," Fang Mo said, taking the lighter and lighting the candles. He also pulled up the curtains, creating a dim and eerie atmosphere in the room.
"What are you doing?" Erik asked, observing Fang Mo muttering words to the candles.
"Praying," Fang Mo replied, folding his hands together. "Although the timing and location aren't ideal, I'm going to pray. Please bless me, Taṇhaṅkara Buddha, Medhaṅkara Buddha, Saraṇkara Buddha, Dīpankara Buddha, Koṇdañña Buddha, Maṅgala Buddha, Sumana Buddha, Revata Buddha, Sobhita Buddha, Anomadassi Buddha, Paduma Buddha, Nārada Buddha, Padumuttara Buddha, Sumedha Buddha, Sujāta Buddha, Piyadassi Buddha, Atthadassi Buddha, Dhammadassī Buddha, Siddhattha Buddha, Tissa Buddha, Phussa Buddha, Vipassī Buddha, Sikhī Buddha, Vessabhū Buddha, Kakusandha Buddha, Koṇāgamana Buddha, Kassapa Buddha, Gautama Buddha..."
As Fang Mo recited, he summoned his stand, Steve. Steve took out three lucky blocks from his backpack and opened one of them. A bright light flashed, revealing a magnificent ring in Steve's inventory.
"Holy Shit! The Ring of Arcana!" Fang Mo exclaimed, momentarily stunned before becoming excited.
—
Erik watched Fang Mo, who suddenly became very excited, and he felt completely confused.
The situation felt eerie and strange. Fang Mo was talking non-stop, lighting candles, and chanting, which made Erik quite scared. He thought that Fang Mo's mental state might not be stable, so he decided to quietly leave for now and figure out what to do later.
Fang Mo noticed Erik leaving, but he didn't have the energy to pay attention to him. He was too excited and couldn't control himself.
Fang Mo was holding the Ring of Arcana, which was a powerful artifact in a game called the Equivalent Exchange mod. It was considered one of the best artifacts in terms of power. It made Fang Mo very excited.
The Ring of Arcana was even more terrifying than the Void Ring because it was made up of four rings: the Ring of Ignition, Zero Ring, Harvest Goddess Band, and Swiftwolf's Rending Gale. It also had five red materials. When these rings and materials were combined, they formed the ultimate ring.
The Ring of Ignition was immune to fire and could create high temperatures that burned everything around it. On the other hand, the Zero Ring could freeze the entire world. The Harvest Goddess Band could make plants grow quickly and automatically harvest or destroy them. As for Swiftwolf's Rending Gale, it allowed the user to fly, create whirlwinds, and wind walls. It could even turn rain into thunderstorms.
In the Equivalent Exchange mod, players could merge the power of these four rings by using the five red materials. Wearing the Ring of Arcana meant having control over fire, ice, storms, and nature—four powerful elements.
Without thinking too much, Fang Mo took the ring from Steve's hand. In an instant, a bright light flashed, and a heavy and beautiful ring appeared in Fang Mo's hand.
"Now I truly feel like a Sorcerer," Fang Mo said as he looked at the Ring of Arcana in his hand, unable to hide his excitement.
