Alain's eyes secretly glinted with a flame that came from the sconces, further accentuating the hope that glimmered within upon hearing his Mother's voice.
"Alain, my child, where are you?" Came the voice of his Mother, and it was veiled with an unfamiliar affection that didn't quite fit how his Mother would call him on a normal day. He wasn't the type who always hesitated when it came to his Mother, afterall he wanted nothing more than to be with his parents again, but for some reason his little mind failed to fathom, he couldn't bring himself to run to the call of his Mother.
"Alain?"
Slowly, Alain rose to his feet and stole a peek from the corner where he hid, his head popping out as he stole a quick glance at the unfamiliar hallway. His pupils dilated at the sight of his Mother, and she was heading in the opposite direction, her back facing him.
"Mama's here?" He whispered dubiously to himself.
