Chapter 15 - Alone again

I had been walking for days through the land of sun, my supernatural human body allowing me to travel at an incredible speed without getting tired. As I walked, I marveled at the beauty of the landscape around me. The air was thick with the scent of flowers and the sound of birdsong filled my ears. I knew that I had a long journey ahead of me, but I felt invigorated by the challenge.

As I continued on my journey, I came across a small village nestled in the hills. The village was quaint and picturesque, with white-washed houses and a bustling market square. The villagers were friendly and welcoming, offering me food and shelter for the night. I accepted their hospitality gratefully, feeling grateful for the chance to rest and recharge.

As I sat in a local bar, savoring the taste of the local cuisine, I couldn't help but think about my mission. I knew that I had to find the speer of sun in order to achieve my goal, but I had no idea where to begin my search. I hoped that my journey to the east would yield some clues or information that would lead me to the artifact.

"Excuse me, stranger," a deep voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see a rugged-looking man with a thick beard and piercing blue eyes standing next to me. He introduced himself as Krios, and told me that he was a local guide.

"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation with the barkeep about your quest," Krios said. "I am a guide and I can help you. For a fee, of course."

I was skeptical at first, but Krios seemed trustworthy. He had a deep knowledge of the land and the people who lived there, and he promised to lead me to the speer of sun if I hired him as my guide. After some negotiations, we agreed on a price, and we set out together the next morning.

As we walked, Krios shared stories and legends of the land of sun. He told me of powerful sorcerers, deadly monsters, and ancient ruins hidden deep within the forests. I listened intently, taking mental notes of everything he said. I knew that his knowledge would be invaluable in my quest for the artifact.

"Krios, have you heard of the speer of sun?" I asked after a while.

"The speer of sun?" Krios furrowed his brow in thought. "I have heard of it, but I have never seen it. It is said to be a powerful artifact, capable of harnessing the power of the sun itself. But it is also said to be guarded by powerful magic, and many who have sought it have never returned."

I nodded thoughtfully. "Do you know anyone who might have information about it?"

Krios thought for a moment. "There is a powerful wizard who lives in a tower deep within the forest. He is said to possess great magical knowledge and artifacts. Perhaps he might know something about the speer of sun."

"Then let us go see him," I said decisively.

After several days of walking, we came across another village, larger than the previous one. This village was more modern, with brick buildings and paved streets. The villagers were more reserved, eyeing me warily as I approached. Krios sensed my unease, and reassured me that we would be safe as long as we stayed together.

We asked around about the speer of sun, but no one seemed to know anything about it. I was disappointed, but not discouraged. I knew that I had to keep moving forward, to continue my journey to the east. Krios suggested that we rest in the village for the night, and I agreed.

As we sat in a local inn, drinking ale and enjoying a hearty meal, I couldn't help but feel restless. I knew that I needed to find the speer of sun as soon as possible, but I was running out of leads. Krios could sense my frustration, and he tried to reassure me.

"Don't worry, my friend," Krios said. "We will find the speer of sun, I promise you that. It may take time, but we will not give up until we find it."

I nodded, grateful for his words of encouragement. Suddenly, a gruff voice interrupted our conversation.

"Excuse me, gentlemen," the voice said. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. Are you looking for the speer of sun?"

I turned to see a burly man with a thick beard and a scar on his face standing next to us. He introduced himself as Aric, a treasure hunter and adventurer.

"I have heard of the speer of sun," Aric said. "In fact, I have been searching for it for years. Perhaps we could work together?"

I was hesitant at first, but Krios seemed to trust Aric, and he had a wealth of knowledge about the land of sun. I agreed to work with him, and we set out the next morning, Aric leading the way.

As we walked, Aric shared stories of his adventures and his exploits. He told us of the treasures he had found, the monsters he had slain, and the dangers he had faced. I listened intently, fascinated by his tales.

Eventually, we came across a dense forest, and Aric told us that the wizard's tower was somewhere deep within. We walked for hours, hacking our way through the underbrush, until we finally came across a clearing. In the center of the clearing stood a towering black tower, surrounded by a shimmering magical barrier.

"This must be it," Aric said, a glint in his eye. "The wizard's tower. But we need to make our way through this obstacles first."

The journey to the tower had been long and treacherous. We had braved the dangers of the forest, fending off monsters and dodging traps at every turn. The path was steep and rocky, and the trees were so thick that it was difficult to see more than a few feet ahead of us. But we persisted, driven by our desire to find the speer of sun.

As we approached the tower, we saw that it was even more imposing than we had imagined. It rose up into the sky like a giant finger, casting a long shadow over the surrounding landscape. The walls were made of a strange, shimmering material that seemed to shift and change color in the light, like a mirage.

We approached the tower cautiously, scanning our surroundings for any signs of danger. But when we reached the base of the tower, we were stopped in our tracks by a powerful magical barrier. It crackled with energy, sending sparks flying in all directions, and we could feel its power pushing against us, as though trying to keep us out.

We tried everything we could think of to get past the barrier, but nothing worked. We tried casting spells and using our weapons, but the barrier remained impervious to our efforts. As night began to fall, we retreated to a nearby cave to rest and plan our next move.

As we sat by the campfire, Aric suddenly stood up. "I have an idea," he said. "There is a powerful potion that can dissolve magical barriers. I have the ingredients to make it, but I need your help gathering them."

Krios and I agreed to help, and we set out into the forest to gather the necessary ingredients. It was a dangerous journey, with monsters and traps lurking around every corner, but we managed to find everything we needed.

Back at the camp, Aric brewed the potion, and we drank it eagerly. As we approached the tower once again, we felt the magical barrier dissolve around us. We climbed the stairs to the top of the tower, where we found the wizard waiting for us.

"Ah, I have been expecting you," the wizard said, his eyes glittering with magic. "What brings you to my tower?"

"We are searching for the speer of sun," I said. "Do you know anything about it?"

The wizard nodded slowly. "I do know of it, yes. But it is not an artifact to be taken lightly. It is guarded by powerful magic, and only those who are pure of heart and true of spirit may claim it."

I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. The wizard offered to help us find the speer of sun, and we set out once again, our hearts beating with anticipation.

The wizard led us through a series of twisting corridors and dark chambers, his staff illuminating our path with a soft, golden glow. We could feel the weight of ancient magic pressing down on us, like a heavy cloak, and our nerves were on edge as we moved deeper into the tower.

Finally, we arrived at a large chamber at the heart of the tower. The room was lit by a single, flickering torch, and in the center of the room stood a pedestal, upon which rested the speer of sun.

But the room was not empty. Standing in front of the pedestal was a figure dressed in dark robes, their face hidden by a deep hood. The figure turned to face us as we entered the room, and I could feel their eyes boring into us.

"So, you have come for the speer of sun," the figure said, their voice low and menacing. "But you are not worthy of it. You are nothing but thieves and murderers, seeking to steal what does not belong to you."
