"That's my mother's name." Even though she whispered, it was loud enough for everyone there to hear it.
"What do you mean?." It was the devil that asked her and she turned to look at him, the shock evident in both their eyes.
"My mother's name is Rose cloven." She repeated and the dining became silent, everyone quietly trying to absorb what was happening.
"You're his daughter?." Lucas couldn't hide the disbelief that took over his features.
"That's impossible. She never said anything about having a second child." Ezikiel chirped in, for the first time, he was truly lost.
"After all these years, the father I had longed for all my life was here all along!?." She hit her fist on the table and stood up, the hatred not confided.
"Lisa-"
"Not once, not ever did you stop and come to visit to know how your wife was doing even if you didn't know I existed!." Anger blazed in her eyes as her hand started feeling hot but she shifted it away.
"I didn't know you were born, if not i-" He was still talking but she shut him up.
"You would have done nothing! I was probably a mistake!." The place suddenly turned hot and the devil stood up slowly to stand in front of her. A small smile dancing on his lips.
"The devil can't have children but here I am with not one but two children of my own." The smile turned sad as he gazed at her.
"I longed for a father all my life." She whispered as tears glistened in her eyes.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that and I promise to make it up to you." Thay was the first time Lucas had seen the devil actually say something sincere from his mouth.
"Fine. But I need some time." He nodded St her and she sat down as he took his seat.
"Hey, are you alright?." Lucas lightly squeezed Lisa's hand and she smiled a little.
"Yeah."
"Now that you know my mother, is there really no way to know where she is? Can't you find her?." Lisa questioned and the smile disappeared from the devil's face.
"I know where she is." He answered vaguely and Lisa knew that wasn't the only information.
"But I can't get to her."
"Why?." She asked immediately and the devil kept quiet for a few seconds.
"She had put a spell around herself. If I go even as much as four foot's close to her, she would die." He explained and Lisa gasped.
"Why would she do that? It doesn't make any sense!."
She had been searching for a her mother for a long time yet, now that there were so close, everything halted at a dead end.
"She didn't tell me the reason why but she knew I could rescue her and knowing that she was my weakness, she had no choice." There was tension at the dining and Ezikiel finally spoke.
"So we're siblings." The look he gave her reminded her of the first time they met and she vividly shivered.
"Unfortunately." She muttered and he chuckled.
"I would like to have a word with you Lucas." The devil stood up and walked out of the dining and Lucas frowned but followed after, leaving Lisa who stared at the door that was shut in panick.
How could they leave her and Ezikiel alone!?.
"Still think I'll kill you?." His gaze on her was chocking and she cleared her throat. Now that she actually paid attention to him, he looked exactly like her mum and she had a few features of the devil.
She still didn't forgive him though.
"First impression matters." Was all she said and he smirked.
The door opened and Lisa was happy to see Lucas who walked in with an odd mood. She couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was.
"What's wrong Lucas?." She blinked her eyes and his eyes that were once cold softened.
"Nothing. Let's go." He held her hand gently and she stood up, following him quietly.
"Is there something you're hiding from me?." She asked onced they reached the room they were assigned to and she frowned when she saw his shoulders become tense as he locked the door.
"You're sick Lisa, there are specific things I can't tell you." He unbuttoned his shirt and removed it.
"I'm not Lucas. I know when there is something bothering you." She took his hands in hers and smiled sadly.
"I experienced it. Every single thing that Lilian had been through, I had experienced it. And it had taken me by surprise when I found out that we really did meet again. I met you in my next life." Sadness etched her voice and Lucas cupped her cheeks in his hands.
"I had watched you die once but I would never let that happen again." His voice was firm and her heart squeezed with grief.
Something was wrong.
"W-what is going on Lucas?" She questioned and he looked away from her.
"They found out about us."
It took her five seconds to realise what he said and the air seemed to have knocked out of her lungs and she held her chest.
Why was it hurting so badly?
"Lisa!." Lucas quickly held her as she tried to catch her breath.
"In fine." She breathed.
"No you're not. You have to rest." He was leading her to the bed but she stopped him.
"By they, do you mean the guardian council?." She asked him with a heavy heart and he nodded.
How could this happen? She hadn't spent enough time with Lucas yet history seemed to be repeating itself again.
"Yes."
"Then we can run, well move to someplace you know that they can't find us, we'll change our names and our look-" She kept on talking nonstop but as soon as she stared into Lucas's eyes, she knew that all hope was lost.
"The devil had negotiated with them, that they wouldn't kill you but I will be stripped off by job, and taken to the heavenly realms. Never to return again." He explained to her and she gripped his shirt.
"I would rather die than watch you get taken from me."
