"My name is Ezekiel Quinn." His voice was forced, it was clear that he was in great pain and it startled Lisa how affected she was by it.
"You haven't answered my other question Ezekiel. Why did you try to kill her?." Lucas's tone was different, it sounded like a prince speaking to his subject and Lisa pressed her lips into a thin line.
Despite the pain he was in, Ezekiel looked up, his gaze meeting hers and she shivered at how hostile it was.
"No reason your Highness." His words held a hidden meaning. There was silence afterwards, Lucas stared at Ezekiel for a while before he looked back at Lisa, his eyes seeming suspicious.
Lisa instantly knew what happened. They had communicated through their minds and she could bet that it was about her.
"Let's go." He tugged her hand as they prepared to walk passed Ezekiel who looked to be recovering but he quickly stood up and blocked their way.
That was gonna hurt.
"I need to speak with you your Highness." He spoke hurriedly and Lucas rose a brow in question.
"Go ahead."
He frowned and gave a quick glance at Lisa"I mean in private."
Lisa understood that it was probably a political matter and she tried to pry her hand off his but he held it tighter.
"You are not going anywhere." He warned and only then did she realise how dangerous Lucas could look.
"He said he wants to speak to you in private and that means I am not needed." She spelt it out for him but he seemed to blandly ignore her and say seriously to Ezekiel-
"The drawing should be a good place to discuss without prying ears." After saying that, he pulled Lisa forward without her consent and led the way.
"So rude." She huffed and silently glared at him.
She thought she heard him chuckle but when she turned to him he looked ahead blankly.
After arriving at the drawing room, they settled down and Lucas made her seat next to him. She didn't know why he was acting so overprotective all of a sudden.
"Speak." Commanded Lucas.
Not beating about the bush, Ezekiel spoke"I have come to seek for your help."
Lisa noted that this wasn't something he did frequently, he may have composed himself well but she could tell that it wasn't easy for him.
"Why is that?".
"I planned to form a team from the strongest creatures of the land. If we form a team, we will be able to defeat anything and anyone that stands in our way." Instead of sounding excited, he sat in a rather professional pose, glancing at Lisa every now and then.
"It is a good plan but that isn't a specific reason on why you need my help." Lucas looked to be calculating the pros and cons.
"I want to kill the king of reapers." His expression gave out nothing when he said this but Lisa's eyes slightly widened.
"I hope you know that planning your king's death is considered treason." Lucas reminded. This man in front of him kept saying more and more surprising things.
"I am fully aware of that your Highness. That is why I need this team, one man cannot defeat a whole army." For the first time since Lisa had met Ezekiel, she saw him smile and it didn't look one bit sincere. It made him look like the devil's incarnate.
"In your case one man can." Ezekiel's eyes twinkled and Lucas frowned.
"Lilian, please wait outside." Lucas ordered and Lisa opened her mouth to protest but she only glared at him and stomped out, closing the door behind her.
This was why she told him that she didn't want to follow him in the first place! What good did she do there?.
She couldn't hear them at all from outside and she guessed they were probably whispering. Why would Lucas chase her outside? Was there probably something he was hiding?.
She had come here to seek answers and Lucas was hiding more things from her!?.
She felt like hitting something right now, maybe Lucas's face would work very nice.
What was she thinking!?
She patted herself on the head and breath slowly, calming herself.
"How amusing." She heard Lucas chuckle and she looked up to see him a few feets away from her in front.
"H-how long have been there?" She stuttered as she just remembered all her actions. He would probably term her as a crazy person.
"Long enough." Was all he said and her face turned red.
"Come on." He turned around to walk and she sluggishly followed him, drilling holes with her eyes through his back.
They arrived at his room in a matter of minutes and he casually waltz in, leaving Lisa to stand at his door in contemplation.
"Lilian." She heard his velvet voice call from inside and she hesitantly scurried in before closing the door.
When she entered, she saw him sitted casually on the couch, a bottle of wine on the arm rest and a cup already filled up in his hand. His black hair was neatly arranged backwards, his shirt the first few buttons open and he had worn a matching white trousers. That was the first time that she had seen him wearing complete white.
He looked like an angel.
"Stand in the middle of the room Lilian." His voice was different. It didn't have that teasing touch again.
What did she do?.
She moved to the middle of the room and stared at her feet.
"Do you know why I will punish you now?." He questioned and her heart skipped a beat which she was fully aware that he heard clearly.
"No." She whispered. She didn't know what she had done.
He sighed"I warned you not to step out of your room without my permission."
Realisation hit her and she bit her lips"Your room was closed your Highness." She tried to reason as she rose her head up, his eyes captivated her.
"Did you try knocking Lilian?." He asked and she didn't answer but remained silent. She didn't even want him to know what she was up to at that time.
"I don't know why you attract trouble like a magnet." He had a curious expression and she blushed.
"Trust me, I don't enjoy it." She mumbled and a loud laughter invaded her ears.
Lucas was laughing so hard that she felt herself smiling with him. It was a beautiful sight.
"What a curious creature." He mused and turned serious again which unsettled Lisa.
Couldn't he just be like that?.
"Since you made me laugh so much I'll minimise your punishment. All you need to do is give me a bath."
Lisa:"...."
