Lucas didn't understand why Lisa looked so shocked to see him. This wasn't the kind of reaction he expected to meet from the terrible mission he had just been through. And he didn't like it one bit how close she was to that vampire whose expression was the same with Lisa's.
Something had just happened and he had missed it by a millisecond. He was sure of it.
He approached the duo and seeing Lisa's expression up close, he instantly concluded that his theory was correct. She was vividly Shivering and that didn't seat well with him one bit.
"What is going on here?" He asked. His voice coming out more calm than he had intended.
"Your Highness." Zain immediately bowed his head when noticing the arrival of Lucas.
'Why is Lucas back so soon? I hope he doesn't take the anger on me and instead uses it on her so that half of my work will be done.' Zain smiled in thought.
"What happened Lisa?." Lucas turned to Lisa, completely ignoring Zain as he studied her eyes that quickly avoided his.
"N-nothing." She stuttered whilst her heartbeat accelerated.
She couldn't forget what just happened. Despite the fact that it wasn't her fault, she couldn't bring herself to say what she had done. She didn't know why she felt so guilty now. Finally, when Lucas was hers she was going to lose him just because of this incident.
She felt both ashamed and angry. She couldn't take it anymore. She should have known that Zain would do that. She had let both herself and Lucas down.
"Excuse me." She whispered and quickly left.
Lucas's eyes narrowed at her retreating figure before sending a cold glare to Zain who immediately took a step back in fear for what Lucas was going to do to him.
'He doesn't know yet just calm down.' Zain assured himself internally.
"Watch what you touch and know who it belongs to because you can't touch a lion's cub.. Zain" Lucas stressed his name, danger dripping from each word that came out of his mouth.
Not waiting for a reply, Lucas stormed out as Lisa's frightened expression couldn't erase from his mind.
***
Lisa who had just arrived at her room was thankful that the reaper and grey was not present there.
She really needed some time to herself.
She paced around the room aimlessly as she tried to calm her mind down which was presently in a ruckus.
What was she meant to do now? Zain had kissed her but Lucas wasn't aware of it. If she told him how will he react? Would he take it lightly? Most importantly, would he believe that she wasn't at fault?.
"I hate that I'm not the one occupying your
thoughts." Lucas's voice sounded beside her and she turned to see him frowning at her. She noted that he wasn't in a good mood.
She opened her mouth to talk but no sound came out. The words seemed to have gotten stuck in her throat.
"Do you remember what happened when you acted like this the last time?." He took a step forward and she stepped backwards.
How could she forget. He had forced the answer out of her.
Before she knew it, Lucas appeared in front of her and she stumbled backwards in shock, crashing lightly into the wall.
She couldn't look at him and instead stared down at her shoes.
Lucas hated it! He hated that she was avoiding his gaze. That she was hiding something so crucial about her.
He gripped her chin tightly, forcing her to look at him and she whimpered. Why didn't she want to tell him? Didn't she trust him?.
"Now tell me little deer, what exactly happened between you and him." He asked as his voice dropped dangerously low.
"I-i'm sorry Lucas." She managed to say but Lucas's eyes blazed in anger.
"What the fuck did he do to you!?" He raised his voice and Lisa flinched.
"H-he kissed me." She whispered in a small voice.
Lucas paused, he blinked at her as the information sinked in.
"He did what?" He questioned, his eyes fluctuating between red and blue before it finally settled on red.
Abruptly, Lucas pulled back and proceeded towards the door and Lisa seeing this immediately held his hand as her anxious brown eyes searched through his.
"Lucas where are you going?" She asked. She was scared of what he might do if he left this room in this mood.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm going to kill that bastard that dared lay his hand on you."
"No don't, please Lucas, don't kill him." She pleaded with him and his mood seemed to have worsened.
"Lisa I hate it when you care for someone else and not me, you are mine and I will not share you with someone else. Not now, not ever."
He sighed when he saw her beautiful face looking sober. How could he resist this?.
"I will not kill him but I'll have to teach him a lesson so that he doesn't try anything like this again."
Lisa breathed internally. At least Zain wasn't going to die.
"But you will have to give me something in return for my generous kindness." A sinister smile crawled it's way through his face and Lisa could hear alarm bells ringing in her head.
'This doesn't sound good.'
"What exactly am I giving you in return?" She questioned curiously and Lucas shrugged.
"Who knows."
Lisa frowned, what did he mean by who knows!?.
"I need to leave now little deer but I promise I'll be back as soon as I can." He brought out this sudden news and Lisa's frown deepened.
"But you just got back! why do you need to go so early? What's going on?" She asked him hastily and he hugged her tightly, not answering her question.
"For now I can't answer that but just know that whatever I'm doing is to keep you safe and nothing more or less." His deep voice soothened her trembling heart but she didn't want to hear what he was saying now and she pulled back from the hug.
"To keep me safe you have to first take care of yourself. Don't do something that will cost me you Lucas." She pleaded, tears forming in her eyes.
She didn't know why she suddenly had a bad feeling about where Lucas was heading to. For the past few days he had been constantly leaving without telling her where he was going and the time he spent with her was decreasing gradually.
"I won't. I would try to protect myself as well little deer, please don't cry." He cupped her cheeks in his hand and placed a light kiss on her forehead.
"I don't know why Lucas but I feel like something bad is about to happen very soon to us." She opened up and Lucas hushed her immediately.
"Shhh... it's okay. Nothing bad is going to happen. I'll make sure of that." He coaxed her but Lucas himself wasn't sure of what he just said.
They both knew it. Something was brewing somewhere that could threaten their relationship very soon.
Whatever it was, Lucas was going to protect Lisa, even if it took his life in the process.
