ChuDu City, along the LJ riverbank. Inside a towering building, dozens of military officers held telescopes in their hands. Especially the elderly leader among them, one hand held the telescope while the other rested behind his back, the sweat dripping from his palm unmistakably betraying his current emotions.
"All units, be alert. The target is about to appear. All units, be alert. The target is about to appear!" A voice echoed through the communication device.
Downstairs, the ambushing soldiers were all on high alert. After about 30 seconds, a military vehicle abruptly made a sharp turn and sped toward their location. Following closely behind the vehicle was a massive, muscular monster.
"All units, be advised. A Tier 1 Shatterer will enter the combat zone in three seconds. Experiment team, prepare yourselves."
"Prepared," a hoarse voice responded.
"3! 2! 1! Experiment personnel, engage!"
As the voice from the communication device fell, the large military vehicle swiftly entered the designated area. It screeched to a halt, and a soldier leaped out of the vehicle, with the pursuing monster lunging onto the vehicle. With just two punches, the military vehicle was instantly reduced to a pile of scrap metal. The Tier 1 Shatterer, after demolishing the vehicle, turned its attention to the fleeing soldiers and pounced.
"Damn it!" Rat-a-tat-tat! The soldier hastily raised his rifle and fired, but the bullets either bounced off the creature's body or got lodged in its flesh, and the Tier 1 Shatterer was getting closer and closer.
"Am I going to die here?" Watching the enlarging figure of the monster in his sights, he took a deep breath, a trace of resolve flickering in his eyes.
"Damn it, come on, I'm not afraid of you!" Shouting loudly, he pulled a grenade from his waist and pulled the pin. Just as he was about to yank the pin out, his wrist was suddenly caught in a powerful grip.
"You've done well enough. Leave the rest to me." Hearing the voice, the soldier was taken aback. He looked up and saw a determined side profile. He was so excited that he almost blurted out, "Josh..."
The newcomer gestured for him to stay quiet, and the soldier immediately understood. He retreated to the side. Seeing the soldier withdraw, the newcomer pressed his earpiece and said calmly, "Super Soldier Josh is in position. Please provide instructions."
"Take down this Tier 1 Shatterer."
"Understood!" Josh nodded faintly, his gaze indifferent as he stared at the Shatterer in front of him. He beckoned with his hand.
Seemingly encountering such bold provocation from a human for the first time, the Tier 1 Shatterer let out a furious roar to the sky. It flexed its arm, and a fist slammed toward the head of the human before it. In contrast, Josh remained motionless. Those around him held their breaths, especially Ervin, the commander, who shouted, "What is this guy doing? Does he want to die?"
Hearing the commander's anger through the earpiece, Madden anxiously spoke into his communicator, "Josh, take action now!" On the battlefield, as the fist approached, Josh neither dodged nor flinched. Instead, he took a step back with his right foot, massaged his right shoulder, and just as the fist was about to connect, he suddenly struck. A punch was thrown, accompanied by billowing smoke and obscuring visibility for the onlookers. Those outside the battlefield nervously watched.
After about ten seconds, the smoke dispersed as the wind blew, revealing two figures within.
"Is... is this the power of a Super Apocalypse Soldier?" Ervin murmured in shock. The military officers beside him also expressed their astonishment. When the base was established, some of them had ingested the crystals from zombies. However, after consumption, they either turned into zombies or died instantly from bursting blood vessels. That was why they opposed the idea of creating Super Apocalypse Soldiers.
Madden's successful research gave them hope. If they could increase the success rate, every super soldier could be like Josh, and the loss of a few seriously injured soldiers seemed to be within an acceptable range.
On the battlefield, Josh's fist, compared to the Tier 1 Shatterer's, was as small as an ant, yet it was precisely this ant-sized fist that withstood the Tier 1 Shatterer's attacks.
"Is this all the power you have?" Josh mocked, looking at the Tier 1 Shatterer unable to advance. There was a time when all the soldiers in his squad died at the hands of these monsters, and he was almost fatally wounded by this creature as well. But now, things had changed. He had acquired unparalleled strength.
Humans were no longer mere ants to be slaughtered by zombies. Humans were still the rulers of this world! Josh thought, his eyes brimming with tears as he whispered, "Did everyone see that?"
With that, Josh shouted loudly and suddenly exerted force in his punching arm. "Back off!"
As the words fell, the Tier 1 Shatterer was actually forced to step back. Watching from the side, Dr. Madden, who was observing, muttered excitedly, "This... is my super apocalypse soldier."
He quickly reminded the researchers beside him, "Quick, record the data."
"Yes, Doctor."
While everyone was recording, Josh extended his left arm, enveloping the Tier 1 Shatterer's fist with both arms. He then exerted his strength and lifted, shouting, "Rise!"
Utilizing the power from his left leg, he spun the creature with a shoulder throw. The next second, the massive body of the Tier 1 Shatterer was lifted into the air, performing a 180-degree arc before crashing to the ground.
Boom! Dust flew up. The surrounding soldiers were all invigorated. Seeing that the strength data had been recorded, Dr. Madden said, "Sergeant Josh, you can use your abilities now."
"Received." Josh nodded. He stared fixedly at the Tier 1 Shatterer, his eyes gradually turning white. A powerful chill emanated from his body. Slowly crouching down, his hands touched the ground, and he uttered softly, "Thousand-Mile Freeze!"
In LinXian City, after destroying the YangHe Hospital and with the cooperation of Dash and others who had arrived, Anthony dealt with the troublemakers or those who had committed murder and atrocities in the aftermath of the apocalypse through mutual accusations, and executed them all.
After a careful selection process, the original 499 members of the YangHe Base were reduced to 150, plus the 149 survivors who had been brought in. In total, there were 299 people remaining.
Looking at this group of people, Anthony still had a headache. However, after looting all the supplies from YangHe Hospital, he transported everything to the Dawn Base. After handing all the people over to Ron, the number of survivors at his base's periphery reached 349. Once he had done this, he entered the conversion room and tossed all three Awakened Crystals he had obtained today.
