Chapter 84 - suppressed by zombies

"Despicable human, it seems you've exhausted your tricks." The giant zombie grinned widely, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth as it emitted a cruel laughter.

The bullet holes on its body were healing at a visible rate, and the bullets embedded in its flesh were even being pushed out.

In an instant, over a dozen deformed metal casings fell freely through the air, landing in the grass and disappearing from sight. In contrast to the giant zombie's ease, Anthony was drenched in cold sweat, trembling uncontrollably.

This giant zombie made him experience fear for the first time. His Level 1 submachine gun could barely breach its defenses, Level 1 bombs did next to nothing, merely pushing it back a few meters.

This creature's level was undoubtedly beyond Tier 2. Anthony recalled the classifications of zombies in the survivor base.

A Tier 2 Shredder possessed ten times the strength of a regular Shredder, meaning if a regular Shredder had a strength of 1.5 tons, a Tier 2 Shredder would have 15 tons of strength.

This zombie bore some similarities to the previous Tier 1 Butcher. It was highly likely that it was a Tier 2 Butcher. If that were the case, its strength would be a formidable and hopeless presence.

Anthony struggled to quell his internal panic, taking a deep breath as he tightly gripped his Tang knife. He surveyed his surroundings, pondering strategies while addressing the giant zombie with a calm tone, "I'm curious, why won't you let me go?"

"You killed An An, so I'll kill you." The giant zombie extended a massive tongue to lick its lips, its gaze harboring a sense of danger.

"Who's An An?" Anthony bought himself some time.

"An An is..." The giant zombie was about to speak but abruptly halted, seemingly lost in some kind of recollection. It muttered to itself incessantly, "An An is who? The name sounds so familiar, why can't I remember? An An should be..."

As it delved deeper into thought, its expression turned ferocious. It clutched its head with both hands and even began to pound on its own skull, trying in vain to recall. Clearly, this name was significant to it. "I shouldn't forget? How could I forget? I..."

Seeing the zombie descend into madness, Anthony muttered to himself, "This is a good opportunity!" With a firm grip on his Tang knife and a flex of his legs, he shot forward like an arrow, aiming straight for the zombie's head.

"Die!" Anthony roared in his heart, his Tang knife tracing a dazzling arc in the sunlight as it zeroed in on the zombie's neck.

Suddenly, a giant hand extended, grasping the blade of the Tang knife. No matter how much force Anthony exerted, the knife wouldn't advance. In desperation, he tried to yank it back, but the giant hand's strength was overwhelming. Anthony had no choice but to release the hilt and forcefully retreat.

"Hehehe! Despicable human, only capable of petty tricks. Unfortunately, you're just too weak." The giant zombie held the Tang knife, gripping the handle with one hand and the blade with the other. With a casual twist, the Tang knife snapped into two pieces in an instant. It casually tossed the knife fragments into the river, then mockingly assumed a running pose. Soil scattered, and its massive form vanished from the spot.

Anthony's pupils constricted as he quickly looked around. No matter how hard he looked, he only heard the rustling sounds of the surroundings and saw no trace of the giant zombie.

Suddenly, a mocking voice came, "Human, what are you looking for?" A burst of strength mixed with a gust of wind struck Anthony's outstretched arm.

"Such immense strength!" Feeling the force on his arm, Anthony immediately circulated his internal energy. His arm traced an arc, deflecting the force, but the residual strength still sent him flying over twenty meters.

Anthony flipped in the air, barely stabilizing his body. After landing and regaining his balance, he panted heavily. The maneuver he just performed to deflect the attack had drained a considerable amount of his strength.

"Oh? You managed to dodge that?" The giant zombie looked surprised to see Anthony unharmed. Its mouth widened, revealing rows of sharp teeth as it let out a cruel laughter.

The bullet holes on its body were visibly closing at an alarming rate, and the bullets embedded in its flesh were pushed out.

In an instant, dozens of deformed metal casings fell freely through the air, disappearing into the grass. Compared to the giant zombie's ease, Anthony's forehead was beaded with cold sweat, and his whole body trembled.

This giant zombie made him truly understand what fear meant. His Level 1 Doomsday Submachine Gun barely scratched it, and a Level 1 bomb had little effect, only pushing it back a few meters.

It was safe to say that this creature's level was definitely above the second tier. Anthony remembered that there was a classification system for zombies back in the survivor base.

Second-tier Smashers possessed strength ten times that of ordinary Smashers. For instance, if an ordinary Smasher had a strength of 1.5 tons, then a second-tier Smasher had a strength of 15 tons.

This zombie bore some resemblance to the first-tier Carnager he encountered before, likely belonging to the second tier. If it truly was a second-tier Carnager, then its strength was truly despair-inducing.

Anthony struggled to calm his inner panic, taking a deep breath and gripping his Tang knife tightly. He surveyed his surroundings while pondering his strategy. He addressed the giant zombie calmly, "I'm curious, why are you so intent on chasing me?"

"Sneaky human, it seems you've run out of tricks," the giant zombie sneered, its mouth stretching wider, and in a blink, it vanished from sight.

"Not good!" Anthony inwardly exclaimed, realizing the dire situation. He quickly raised his arms to defend himself. A flurry of punches ensued, and the defense of his Level 1 Venom Armor was the first to fail. The crystal-clear threads that had wrapped around him were severed, and as the fist struck his skin, his inner energy quickly gathered to resist the impact. However, in the blink of an eye, his defense was shattered, and the punch broke through two layers of protection, dissipating some of its force. Finally, Anthony launched a counter-force to dissipate the remaining energy.

The lingering force sent Anthony flying dozens of meters. Before he even landed, the imposing figure reappeared by his side, raising a fist that whistled through the air.

"Damn it!" Anthony's expression turned grim, frustration making him grit his teeth. However, the zombie's speed greatly surpassed his, and its strength was several times greater.

Unable to dodge, he was sent hurtling away. From a distance, Anthony resembled a bouncing ball, his body tumbling through the air.

"No, if this continues, I'll be played to death!" Anthony cursed inwardly, clenching his teeth. He reached into his spatial ring and retrieved a Level 1 Doomsday Bomb, holding it tightly. As soon as the figure reappeared, he released the safety mechanism, leveraging the force of the oncoming attack to propel himself backward. Half a second later, the bomb detonated, a fireball erupting and a wave of heat and force pushing the giant zombie several meters back. After flying more than thirty meters, Anthony landed steadily on the ground, finally catching his breath.

"Cough... cough!" Wiping blood from his mouth, Anthony activated his inner energy, his voice low as he commanded, "Meditate!" His mental attribute immediately surged to 0.8. Empowered by this attribute, his strength and agility attributes increased by eighty percent. His initial strength of 4205 pounds was now boosted to 7569 pounds, and his agility of 144.2 meters per second soared to 259.56 meters per second.

"Only five minutes for meditation, I need to make the most of it," he thought to himself. With his hands crossed and his feet set, Anthony dashed toward the giant zombie, who was growing near. Just before reaching his adversary, he shouted, "Double-Stacked Force!"

"Hehe! Human, you're asking for death!" The giant zombie, instead of being afraid, displayed a mocking expression. It saw this attempt to resist as nothing more than a desperate struggle, no different from seeking death.

Since this human wanted to die, the giant zombie abandoned its playful attitude and slightly flexed its arm, muscles bulging. At the moment Anthony drew near, it delivered a powerful punch, exclaiming, "Die!"

"Double-Stacked Force!" Their fists collided, and a violent surge of energy reverberated at the center of impact. In the next moment, a series of cracking sounds echoed. Anthony's five finger bones were twisted and contorted as they were smashed, and his arm was instantly broken. Under the force, his body was propelled like a cannonball, leaving a several dozen-meter-long trail of white marks on the surface of the YangHe River before sinking into the water.

Gurgling sounds filled his ears. In his dazed state, ice-cold river water rushed madly into his nostrils and mouth, causing a sensation of suffocation. Anthony quickly regained his senses. He expelled a bubble of air, immediately using his remaining arm to swim toward the water's surface.

But in an instant, a sudden change occurred. In the water, a massive black shape was slowly approaching him. Sensing the looming presence of this colossal entity, Anthony didn't dare to linger. He hastened his arm movements, swimming with all his might toward the water's surface.

Meanwhile, on the riverbank, the giant zombie observed Anthony's plunge into the water with an icy expression. "Human, do you think you can escape by diving into the water?" With those words, it leaped into the air, soaring thirty meters high. Then, assuming a free-fall posture, it descended toward the water's surface.

Just then, water splashed as a figure floated up from the river. However, upon seeing the enormous figure descending from the sky, the person quickly moved aside. In an instant, a massive abyssal maw emerged from the water, swallowing the giant zombie in a single gulp. Perhaps the zombie inside its mouth was unruly; the massive zombie wagged its tail and executed a somersault before plunging toward the riverbed.

This entire scene unfolded in the blink of an eye. Observing the situation, Anthony didn't dare to remain in the water. He suppressed the weakness and dizziness caused by his excessive blood loss and swam with all his strength toward the shore.
