After the talk and his explanation about the rewards, I took three quests. Which surprisingly took me three hours to complete. I guess the saying is correct. 10,000 hours of practice can turn anyone into an expert. Not a master in your craft but an expert. I did spend quite some time in life killing goblins. Sure I wouldn't call myself an expert but I would call myself efficient.
My three quests were to slay 7 hobgoblins, 4 goblin sages, and 2 sets of 10 normal goblins. The quests total was only 1 gold and some change. I took the quests not to get money. I took the quests to test the upgrade materials for my skill. I thought by killing stronger goblins the skill would count that kill as more than 1 goblin. That wasn't the case I found out after checking the skill description and completing the two hard quests.
It was then that I found out that I only killed 11 higher-ranked goblins. Yet not a single point was given. I also remembered I had to kill 100 slimes. Thankfully they are everywhere so I killed them in secret.
I left the flattened cores behind because I refuse to let people know I still kill slimes. I see that this skill demands normal goblins so even though I worked so hard to kill 11 strong goblins. All I will get as a reward for it is 900 silver.
So I went on a quest filled with rage. I slayed goblins. Nope! That was a joke. I am not that one guy I read in a story. I was mad at my skill but if it needs to be upgraded with specific requirements. Then no matter how much I complain it won't get my skill upgraded.
Now I am two hours into killing goblins. I am efficient with killing certain creatures but not with scouting. If I had Ji-woo with me, finding goblins and killing them silently would benefit me the most. I am clumsy and low-rank goblins can be spoked.
I need to learn not to be clumsy when sneaking up on demonic beasts. Thankfully I am still efficient when there is a big group. A group of 10 to 20 gets a little brave against one human. For all that hard work and the idiocy of goblins. I have killed 369 goblins.
This means I still have 631 to kill, but hey I can give more proof of killing more. Which means more money for me. Was I always this efficient with killing goblins? When my stats were weaker I had a hard time. Now that my stats are up a little and I have a way easier time.
If I knew upgrading my stats would make my life this much easier I would have spent money on potions that raised my stats. Granted the ones in this world are hard to come by and won't guarantee a raise in stats.
I am just lucky I have a skill that has the opportunity to give me a way to catch up to my brothers and sisters. The progress for raising my stats would have taken a lifetime. Not to mention gaining these skills would have taken me multiple life cycles to get. If reincarnation is a thing.
