Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: A false alarm?

"Greetings to the second princess, Iah Moonshail from this snake clan's first prince."

The male greeted half-heartedly followed by a casual nod at her.

Iah was not to fazed by the revelation as she had pretty much guessed the identity of the beasts from his energy level. Given the lit water symbol on his throat with a lotus symbol on his left shoulder. This man should be the notoriously famous first prince of the snake tribe.

The Snake tribe had four princes, from which the youngest was learning in monestry. The education monasteries were different from theirs. The elder two were active in politics and the kingdom. While the third one was said to be a scholar, who was entranced in art all day long .

"Greetings to the first prince."

Iah grunted out a greeting. Her green bright eyes stared inquiringly towards the young man.To have blocked a princess like this, this person better have a good reason for his rude behaviour.

Otherwise, there was no way he was going unharmed.

"The second princess Iah really lives upto her name. An earth fairy with beauty that could blind."

As if not aware of the princess's already irritated gaze. Eric, the snake prince stared at the young girl with interest in his eyes.

"You flatter me. The first prince tho really is as the rumours say, a Casanova to behold."

Iah Moonshail clicked her tongue at the prince's annoying nature. The man had not only pissed her off but also wasted so much of her time.

"The princess is surely well informed "

Eric laughed hard loud in amusement at the young lady's savageness. Weren't the princess supposed to be kind and gentle.

Well, he liked this one more. Straightforward but adorable.

"I still have business to attend. Name your purpose. "

The girl said indifferently. Her roaming eyes showed her impatient nature.

"The snake tribe is about to go on war with the Dreamland city. The coming month is going to mark the start of an Impending doom. I'm here to give you an heads up for things are not going to be as simple as they seem."

The bloke's tone solemn and face staid. Iah Moonshail looked deeply into his eyes, analysing the accountability of his words. Sincerity was all that was present in his ocean deep irises.

"Why would you tell me this then?"

The question proved to be crucial in the situation like this. A war like this, if conquered could bring immense fortune to the winning country. Henceforth, why would he, the snake prince, reveal about the secret of things not being simple.

The title of the crown Prince, made him the biggest benefiter in a war between the two countries. Thus, this sincere behaviour of his came out to be more compromising emotion at this predicament.

"I'm protecting my beloved and this is the only thing I could do to keep her save."said the man devotedly.

"I'll verify about the matter. Thank you for the information, your highness."

Iah Moonshail bid farewell, turning to leave and go back home. The matter needed urgent assistance and verification. The more she thought about it, the more she believed the snake man's words.

"Princess, you seen to have forgotten something."

Eric called out tenderly. His gentleness contrasting with his earlier casualness. Those ocean blue eyes shone with light and fragile softness.

Turning around to face the young prince , the girl saw her silver anklet dangling in between the man's fingers.

"You found it?"

Iah Moonshail asked, her right hand streched with her palms open to receive the jewel back.

It was not that she had actually forgotten about the anklet, it was just that she could find it some other day. Now, however the matter called for an urgent investigation and planning.

"Hmm."

Eric hummed in agreement, handing over the anklet to the young girl, letting their fingers brush against ever so lightly in the process.

The girl quickly retrieved her hands and turned to leave after giving the male an inattentive nod.

"Good bye, princess."

Deep and baritone voice of Eric, the snake prince came from behind. It was however not the meaning of the words but it's tone. The Prince's tone sounded especially teasing and ambitious, as if trying to lure her away.

"I could only help you untill this, sweetheart."

A tiny whisper was heard, yet no one except the speaker himself heard it. Those dark blue irises followed the ebbing figure of the girl longingly.

Unbeknownst to the flustered princess, the prince at her back let out a self deprecating sigh. His face, lost of it's usual slyness and smile, was solemn and profound.

The beloved he wanted to protect was not even aware of his presence untill today, let alone loving him. He had , infinite of the times wanted to confess and express all his love, but was bound in titles and rivalry.
