My birth was nothing but a catalyst for what is evil is yet to befall into this peaceful pile of land. According to the books, a week before my birth, a village in my kingdom had been on fire causing peoples livelihood to reduce into ashes in just a matter of minutes. The king and queen then went to the affected villagers and handed out food for the people. Returning to the castle, the queen—my mother—fell ill and was to be resting. On the day of my birth, life and death was present in the room, watching everything unfold. First came life—mother had gave birth to me with all her strength left and people rejoiced at the sight of me, soon afterwards death flew down to watch—they went up to my mother and shake her to wake up thinking she passed out from giving birth without avail, they checked her pulse and found nothing, death has come to take a life and life came to give one.
Growing up, I was a sickly kid. I constantly need someone watching over me to monitor my every movement. At 5 years old, I got a very high fever that I was in bed for a month. Death and life came to visit me once again. It was night, the breezy air coming from the opened glass door that leads to the balcony, the moonlight served as the light for my room, and I was in bed asleep. I woke up when I heard a sound of wings flapping, I immediately sat up from my bed and searched for the origin of the sound. I panned my eyes to my left side and saw, in the left corner of my room, two people standing and watching me. A man and a woman, one is plain white, he can be compared to a paper due to the shade of white, his hair is the darkest shade of black I have seen, he is body is toned but not muscular just toned with a little belly fat, he was wearing a linen shirt and a cotton linen breeches. The other one is of the darkest shade of red that I have ever seen, as if she had been bathing in a pool of blood, her hair is also red but with a hint of orange, her body is of the average woman's body, her eyes we just black, nothing else, there were black tears coming out of her eyes but she wasn't crying at all, she is wearing her linen smock and her crimson red stays. I can see it in their expressions that they were surprised that I woke up and saw them but quickly recovered.
The woman whispered something to the man in a language I am not acquainted with, she then looked back at me with a smile on her face, a warm smile. Turning my look to the man, he had a straight face plastered on his face. I was confused on who they are and how they got inside my room with the guards outside my room. I was about to speak when the woman stopped me, placing a finger on her lips signaling me to not say anything, so I didnt. "Hi there little boy, I didn't think you would see us. I'm Death and the man right beside me is Life. You really dont know this but when you were welcomed to this world, we were present and watching it all unfold," the woman spoke, her voice is sweet and loving like a mother talking to her child. Later on the man spoke as well, "why are you here? You dont look too well, what happened?," he asked with concern and coldness in his tone, "I strained myself too much with my studies that I had forgotten to sleep so I have gotten weak and fell ill," I explained to him with fear in my tone, what are they doing in my room? are they here to take me? "oh little boy, dont worry youre not going to die yet, you see we found you interesting when you were born so we decided to always look after you," the woman—Death—explained to me as if she was reading my mind, I nodded at her explanation not knowing what else to say. Later on the man—Life— said something that made me turn my whole attention to him, "don't worry little one, I'll heal you and you will be able to play and study again," he came up to my bed and sat on the edge of my bed his lower body facing the woman but the upper facing me, he gave me a glass of something red, "go on drink it, don't worry its nothing harmful, I promise," I took it from his hands and hesitantly drank it all, later on I felt light headed and became unconscious, snoring away.
Seeing that the boy had fell asleep, Death came up to him and planted a kiss on his forehead as if kissing him goodnight, "Have a good night sleep little one, may we meet again," Life already stood up, holding a hand out, waiting for Death to put her hands on them to tell him she is ready to leave. She then turned to him and put her hands on him, leaving the room where the prince is sleeping peacefully with a small smile on his face.
