The second day of exams was about to begin, several students of class 1-E were already in their classes and waiting for Mr. Smith to come to give the exam questions.
"Satomi, how are your grades?"
As usual, Fisa came and approached me, she also invited me to talk.
"It's normal, nothing great, but I managed to avoid deducting points."
"That's great! You know what? I managed to get an 86 on the Sports exam yesterday! I'm glad that my efforts to study hard weren't in vain."
As expected, Fisa got a good score on the Sports subject exam.
"That's a good result, what about the others?"
"There's no problem. Thanks to Lina, I was able to understand some of the material. But wasn't yesterday's Math exam very difficult? Lina even said that the questions weren't for high school students."
Was the question really that difficult?
I don't know, I thought it was only low to medium level questions, but it turns out that they also seemed to have trouble working on it.
"Is that so? Then what about the English exam?"
"That one, anyway. I don't know why the questions seemed easy, after all most of them were just grammar questions."
"Yeah, I thought so too."
"Satomi, how many marks did you get yesterday?"
"Umm... for Math 51, Sports 60, and English 55. Well, even though it was low, at least I was able to avoid deducting points. How about you, Fisa?"
As I was about to go to bed yesterday, my cell phone suddenly rang and I immediately checked it.
It turned out to be a notification from the school telling me the score I got from the academic exam.
As for the result, it was just as I expected.
I thought I could get whatever score I wanted, which is what it would be like if this kind of exam was held again.
It's not that I'm underestimating this school, but I feel that I'm the one being underestimated by this school.
They gave questions that were so easy that I thought they were trick questions.
I don't know, I don't want to think about it further.
"Well, for me anyway. Sports 86, Math 53, and English 70."
"I think your grades are fine. Except for Math, you almost got a point deduction."
"But your grades aren't fine! Why are your grades so low? Even Math only got a 51, that's almost more than me!"
Fisa looked worried about my grades.
But how should I tell her?
Should I be honest that I can get any grade I want?
No, it's best not to for now.
"Well, I guess the most important thing is that there's no point deduction between us."
"You're right, but what about today? Are you sure you can score above 50?"
"I don't know, but I'll try."
"Sorry, Satomi. It's my fault."
This time her face looked glum after apologizing to me.
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because of my selfishness, you have to join my study group, especially since you were so quiet in the study group yesterday."
"Is that so? But it's not your fault, so don't beat yourself up like that."
"No, it's my fault. You know what? Maybe you couldn't focus on studying because you forced yourself to join the study group. I thought you were the type to study alone."
I was a little confused about what to say now.
Even though I managed to get the grade I wanted, but it still seems too low in Fisa's eyes.
Ah, I have one thing I want to say.
"Fisa, instead of thinking about that. Would you like to hear one interesting thing?"
"Interesting thing? Is it like cheating or something?"
"No, it's not like that. Before I say it, can you promise me that you won't pry?"
"Yes, you can trust me."
Even though I love her, I can't trust her completely yet.
So I'm only going to reveal one test score that I want to get.
"I'm going to get a 70 on today's Biology exam."
"Uh, how? We didn't even do it today."
"Sorry, I won't tell you that."
"Uh, why? Please tell me!"
Fisa held both my shoulders with her hands as if she was forcing me to tell her.
She also shook my shoulders a few times.
Right at that moment, Mr. Smith came in with his sheet of paper, making all the students in the class scatter to sit on their respective benches, including Fisa.
"Whatever, I'm waiting for the 70!"
"Yes."
"Welcome to the second day, this time you'll be completing the three remaining subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I hope you get good results, I congratulate those who are free from point deductions."
After his speech, Mr. Smith handed out a sheet of exam paper to the students including me.
"You have two hours. Do it now!"
Well, today was the same as yesterday.
The number of questions given is still the same, which is 100 questions, and of course one question is worth one.
I'll determine the grade I want to get now.
Biology, 70.
Chemistry, 65.
Physics, 65.
Maybe that's it.
I wanted all of them to get 65, but what can I do, I told Fisa that I would get 70 on the Biology exam.
After 6 hours had passed, the academic exams finally ended after we had been taking them for two days.
I didn't have any trouble at all, but I was worried about Fisa's score.
No, I think Fisa will be fine considering she got a pretty good score yesterday.
"Good job, all of you! I hope you got satisfactory grades. Before I leave, I hope you've prepared for tomorrow's athletics exam. Alright, that's all for today, thank you!"
Finished with his words, Mr. Smith walked out of the classroom carrying his exam papers.
"Satomi, how do you think the second day went?"
Now Fisa came back and talked to me.
"Well, nothing in particular."
"Are you sure you can get a 70?"
"Why are you so doubtful?"
"It's not that I doubt it. But the score you got yesterday was close."
"Fisa, want to come with us?"
As we were talking, Lina suddenly came to join us and spoke.
"Yes, I'll come. But let me talk to Satomi first."
"Why not invite her to join us? Satomi, you want to come, right?"
"Uh, me?"
I don't know where they're going, but I think Fisa will gather together with the study group from yesterday.
"Yes, coming right?"
Lina reiterated.
"Let's have fun, Satomi!"
Fisa also looked very excited.
Seeing her like this, I couldn't resist.
"Yes, I'll come along."
"Thank you, Satomi! I'm so happy that you're joining us."
With that sweet smile of hers, Fisa managed to make my body temperature rise by itself.
"Great, then we'll be waiting for you at H's Cafeteria."
"Yeah, just wait!"
Finished giving the place where they would gather, Lina left Fisa and me.
"Let's go, Fisa?"
I invited her.
But when I walked over, she still stayed where she was.
"What's wrong, Fisa?"
"Satomi, do you remember our promise yesterday?"
"Promise?"
"Do-don't tell me you forgot it?"
Wait a moment.
I tried to remember the promise Fisa was referring to.
Oh, I remember now.
Before we took the academic exam, Fisa forced me to promise one thing.
If she didn't get any points deducted during the academic exam, I had to stroke her head.
I don't know why she asked that, but I guess there's no harm if I have to keep her promise.
After all, I'd feel good if I could stroke her silver hair.
Promise.
A person called a human would help each other and make promises not to betray each other.
It's all about trust, as fellow humans who have made promises to each other, they must keep them.
When the results are announced later, I hope Fisa doesn't get a single point deduction.
That way, I'll soon be able to keep her promise.
It seems like Fisa already trusts me, so I should also be able to trust her without doubting her anymore.
"I didn't forget about it, so let's go!"
"Hehe, I'm very happy!"
Then the two of us hurried off to H's Cafeteria so they wouldn't have to wait long.
