Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Academic Exams, Begin!

After all the hard studying and hard work, exam day had finally come.

This morning was Monday, and the students of class 1-E gathered in the classroom to take their academic exams.

Mr. Smith's greeting for the exam, which would last one week, was about to begin.

"Good morning everyone! I wish good luck to the students taking the exam, this time you will be taking an exam to test your eligibility. As you know, this time the exam is an academic exam."

After welcoming the students, I guess the topic turned to the academic exam rules.

"As for the rules themselves, you must get a score above 50, otherwise you will be considered a failure, and of course you will receive a 50 point deduction for that failure. There are 100 questions, and you have 2 hours to complete them."

Oh, it turns out that the point deduction is lower than last year.

I was a little relieved if it was like that.

While waiting for Mr. Smith to finish explaining, I looked around.

Then I looked at Fisa, maybe she was a little nervous.

Not only Fisa, the others were also nervous including Lina and Danna.

For Wijaya, I was quite impressed with his calmness.

As if he was ready for the test, Wijaya looked at Mr. Smith seriously.

"Maybe you already know this, but let me repeat it. Today you have three subjects in the exam, such as Math, Sports, and finally English. The break after one subject is only 10 minutes, so prepare yourself well!"

"..."

It was quiet now.

Of course it was quiet, it was because most of my classmates were nervous about all three subjects being tested on the same day.

Moreover, they had to score above 50 if they didn't want to suffer a point deduction.

In my opinion, the nervousness is natural because they are overthinking the worst possibilities that will be faced, but unfortunately I can't feel it.

I want to feel it too, but what can I do, my body can't react to things like that.

They are different from me, I don't even care about this exam at all.

I only care about the grade Fisa will get, and I hope she doesn't fail.

"Now I'm going to hand out the Math test papers for you to work on. There are 100 questions, you have 2 hours."

Mr. Smith took some test papers and distributed them.

"Listen up! If you share the answers with anyone else, points will be deducted!"

"Okay!"

My classmates' voices were loud enough to emphasize Mr. Smith's words.

I guess they also needed to speak loudly like that to make the nerves dissipate a bit.

"Do it now!"

The exam had started now.

"Good luck!"

I mumbled to myself and I hoped my voice could be heard by Fisa.

The exam time has passed, now the students are focused on doing the Math exam questions given.

It's basically 100 math questions with a low to medium level, I think even elementary to middle school students can answer the questions.

I find it strange why this school gives students math questions that look easy.

Ah, that's right.

I suspected that there were traps in some of the easy questions.

Oh, no?

There are no trick questions here, and I'm pretty sure of that.

But there was one thing that bothered me.

As I looked around, I could read the expressions of my own classmates who seemed to be having trouble including Fisa.

Why did they look troubled?

Isn't this an easy question?

If they were indeed struggling, then it applied to me.

For me, the question was very easy.

In fact, I'm sure I'll finish it in less than 20 minutes if I'm serious.

2 hours is still too long for a question like this.

There were 100 questions in total, so 1 question was worth 1.

Well, I didn't have to struggle to answer all of them correctly.

I think I only need to answer 51 questions correctly and 49 questions incorrectly.

That way my ability will be well covered, after all, a score of 51 won't be considered a failure.

But even so, for multiple-choice questions like this, I have to be a little careful not to mis-mark sections A to E.

I'll finish it in half an hour, although I can do it in less than that.

It probably wouldn't hurt if I was also a little serious about answering this question, I was a little serious about not marking the correct section incorrectly.

A few minutes passed and I had already answered 35 questions.

Looks like I'm still going too fast, there's still 1 hour and 45 minutes left.

By slowing down the way I answered the questions a little, I finally did 51 questions when there was 1 hour 34 minutes left.

That's how the math written test went for two hours.

"Time's up! Collect it now, it has to be done or not!"

The math exam time was up, the students including me were told to collect their papers to the front, the collection place was the teacher's desk.

"You have a 10-minute break!"

The time used for the 10-minute break was actually very little, so most of my classmates decided to stay in their seats and wait for the 10 minutes to pass.

When the 10 minutes had passed, Mr. Smith handed out another sheet of Sports exam paper and after getting the paper, they immediately started working on the exam.

"Same time as before, do it now!"

The question about Sports, this is indeed the basis of knowledge about sports.

This question is also exactly what I thought, I mean the question is more dominating about big ball games.

Who invented the sport of basketball?

In what year did James Naismith invent basketball?

That's about it, the questions given can also be related to other questions.

The answer?

It's easy.

The creator of basketball is James Naismith and the year he invented basketball is 1891.

Then, the rotation in Volleyball is done when?

Usually, rotation in a volleyball game is done if a team manages to score a number or point.

The rotation or movement of players is done clockwise.

Rotation is not necessary if a team gets consecutive points.

100 questions for an exam like this, I think it's too easy.

Unlike earlier, I decided to answer 60 questions correctly.

It only took me 10 minutes to complete 40 questions, and the rest I took it easy.

I thought that with questions like this, at least Fisa would know a bit about it because she was talented in athletics.

Before I knew it, 2 hours had passed and the students were back to doing the same thing as before.

There was a 10-minute pause, and then Mr. Smith handed out the sheets for today's last exam, which was English.

I didn't understand a bit.

Why do all the questions almost ask about grammar?

I don't know, I don't know either.

This time I'm aiming for 55 marks, so I only need to answer 55 questions correctly.

My brother lives in village but she ... in city.

A. work

B. works

C. working

D. worked

E. to work

It's easy, the answer is B.

I always bring my dictionary everyday to my school, but I ... to bring it yesterday.

A. forgot

B. forget

C. forgetting

D. forgotten

E. to forget

Moreover, this one, the answer is definitely A.

I took the last exam very casually and I managed to finish it in 35 minutes.

When 2 hours had passed, Mr. Smith again told the students to collect their papers.

"Well, congratulations on doing so well in your first day of exams. I hope you'll keep up the good work until tomorrow, and you should also try for the athletics exam on Wednesday. Now, you can go home and wait for the results, they will be displayed on your phones later. That's all!"

After concluding and sending his students home, Mr. Smith left the classroom with his exam papers.

Well, for the next few days, I still have to hold back.

For the time being, I can't find anyone whose ability is equal to mine, so restraint is indeed very important.

I'll be very conspicuous if I put my all into it, not to mention that they can expect more results when I do.

Honestly, I'd rather be conspicuous for my stupidity than show off my skills.
