Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Lower Class

So many stares were directed at me after I walked into the classroom.

I didn't care, but it was still a bit annoying.

The atmosphere was quiet and everyone was silent including Mr. Smith.

I looked around the classroom and then looked at my classmates one by one.

Oh, I saw Fisa sitting in the center near the window.

I guess she didn't have any problems after entering the class.

That's good for you, Fisa.

Because I was staring at her for too long, our eyes met and Fisa quickly looked away.

I don't understand why she did that, but I don't care either.

"Satomi, do you regret what you did?"

Mr. Smith, who had been silent, opened his mouth and asked me.

I too shifted my gaze from Fisa to Mr. Smith.

Regret, huh?

I don't know, I didn't feel anything from the start.

He wouldn't be angry if I lied, right?

As long as I don't get caught, I guess it doesn't matter.

"Umm... yes, I'm sorry."

I used a low tone of voice to be perceived as sorry by Mr. Smith.

"Very well, sit back in your seat!"

"Yes, Mr. Smith!"

Fortunately, he was tricked easily and I was back in my original seat.

If only I had come earlier, then I could have sat at the back.

But this morning I arrived a bit late, so there were only the front seats left.

Of course there are some students who choose to sit in the front of their own accord.

It all depends on the students themselves.

If they want to understand the material quickly and clearly, then sitting at the front is a good choice.

But if they want to do something that cannot be seen, then they will definitely choose the back seat.

As for the center, it is the neutral part.

"Okay, I'll continue about the school rules."

When I finished sitting in my own seat, Mr. Smith restarted the explanation.

School rules, I hope I can get a good explanation from Mr. Smith.

"Where did you get to? Oh, yes. About the school uniform, maybe some of you already know it briefly and this time I will explain it further. First, you will wear the compulsory uniform every day except on holidays, so you will be given three pieces of compulsory uniform. Secondly, you will wear the sports uniform when there is a sports lesson only, for the sports uniform only one sheet is given, please take good care of it! And lastly, the club uniform is only available during second grade because you can only join the club during second grade. That's all, any questions?"

"Mr. Smith."

I raised my hand because I wanted to ask something.

"Go ahead Satomi, but please ask nicely."

"Yes, Mr. Smith!"

Ask nicely?

I didn't know how, but one of the things I could do was to stand up and show my manners.

I slowly started to rise from my chair and stood up straight.

"Mr. Smith, why did I only get one sheet of the mandatory uniform?"

"Because it's still being distributed, you won't be studying this week anyway."

Fortunately, he didn't get angry at my question.

Mr. Smith continued to answer my questions even though his eyes were very sharp.

I think I can still ask some questions now as long as they are within the school rules.

"Can you explain in more detail, Mr. Smith?"

"Yes, of course."

It was true, he wasn't angry.

"This week you are free to do anything to get to know this school environment. But don't get excited just yet, you might face some difficult things next week."

Mr. Smith began to explain what activities we would be doing during this week.

It turned out that Rose's words earlier had some truth to them too, the new school year students still hadn't undergone any learning activities.

"Do you have any other questions, Satomi?"

"Umm... I think that's enough. Thank you, Mr. Smith!"

I didn't forget to thank Mr. Smith for answering my questions.

I won't make any more mistakes and make Mr. Smith angry, because it would be very troublesome if I were severely punished by him.

I wanted to relax and avoid some troublesome activities, so I shouldn't be punished for anything.

"Yes, you may sit down, Satomi!"

"Okay."

Since I had been invited to sit down, I did so.

"What about the others, any questions?"

Mr. Smith started asking the other students again if they had any questions.

"..."

It seemed that the classroom was quiet as Mr. Smith waited for the students in case anyone wanted to ask questions.

"I don't think so. Okay, thank you for listening! Lina, can you pass out these sheets of paper to everyone?"

"Okay!"

Sheets of paper were seen on the teacher's desk, it seemed Mr. Smith wanted all the papers to be distributed to the students and he asked Lina for help in distributing them.

Lina who was asked for help quickly understood Mr. Smith's intentions and she approached the teacher's desk to take the sheets of paper and distribute them.

"Excuse me, Mr. Smith!"

"Yuboh, you're so polite," I muttered.

"Yes... before I go, please listen to this!"

"..."

Mr. Smith started talking again.

"The papers distributed by Lina, please put them up in your dorm rooms, they will be checked by someone."

The person Mr. Smith was referring to was definitely the person who woke me up this morning.

Well, I guess there's no problem if it's just a piece of paper.

"Sorry, Mr. Smith. What happens if someone doesn't put it up?"

Lina asked even though she wasn't invited by Mr. Smith first.

I thought it was an important question, so it didn't matter.

"I will definitely punish him, a very severe punishment. I'm not joking, I hope you can do well."

"Yes, Mr. Smith!"

Ah, there it is.

Severe punishment, so I had to put up that piece of paper in my room.

I originally intended to just ignore it because it didn't look important, but it turns out I could be severely punished if I didn't put it up.

What can I do?

"Then, I'll leave first! You are free to roam the school grounds as long as you don't return to your dorm rooms before three o'clock in the afternoon! If anyone does, then I will punish that person."

"Yes, Mr. Smith!"

This time most of my classmates started responding to Mr. Smith's words.

I think they were starting to get excited because Mr. Smith, who was considered terrible by them, would be leaving soon.

Maybe they were also excited because of the free time given to get to know this school environment.

"Oh, yes. One more thing, I hope you won't do anything unnecessary. Also, please don't make any noise!"

Before leaving the classroom, Mr. Smith warned us not to do anything unnecessary.

I didn't understand what he meant at first.

"Fine!"

"You lowly Class E!"

For a moment, my hearing worked really well.

I could hear that Mr. Smith was insulting Class E as a low class.

Until Mr. Smith actually left the classroom and it created a moment of silence before it became a lively classroom atmosphere.

I understand now.

Class E, the low class.

Perhaps class E is a class that is difficult to organize.

Even though Mr. Smith himself is the homeroom teacher of class 1-E, but he looks unhappy when guiding his own students.

The little I heard from Rose, she was surprised that I could find out about the special rules when I was only in Class E.

Rose wouldn't have been surprised if I was in class A or class B.

It all became clear that E class was a class that was really looked down upon by most people.

Well, I actually don't care as long as I can still relax.

If only the lowly E class could answer my question, maybe I would be a little serious.
