"If, really, you did not consider him a friend, you never should have pulled him along in the first place or done all those nice things for him. He may smile constantly, but he is in fact very lonely, and what you just did made things worse for him."
"I may not understand emotions as well as you all do, but at least with common sense, I can tell how much it would hurt if someone believed they finally had a friend, only for that one person to crush it."
"Don't do that. It is not right. You have cut him off now and I know you did it because Lucien was with you. If she wasn't, you would have kept going." His tone sounded quite displeased.
"I do not care if you are friends with him—it is your business, actually. However, what I do not want is for you to merge both your friendship and our business together. Keep your friendship with him separate and our business separate, do you understand?" he asked.
