The coachman led Xander and Master Arwin behind the stable and unlocked a barn door on the other side. Inside it was a shoddy-looking brown carriage drawn by four Spotted Red Osaroks, the fastest among all flightless birds in Merantis.
Xander climbed into the carriage and laid Leena's body on the seat. The coachman still didn't suspect anything as the gaping wound in her chest was covered by Xander's jacket. However, her body was gradually starting to decompose.
"We are stopping for anything. I hope that's clear," Xander instructed as he drew the curtains and closed the door.
The coachman spat out the beetle nuts in his mouth and replied, "I'll get you to the city in no time, sire. You can count on old William."
The carriage drove off at a brisk pace, and soon they were on the road leading out of the village. Xander looked at his watch to check the time.
