In many ways, Xander could relate to the Dreamweaver standing before him. They both had lost people they loved dearly and were still trying to cope with reality. Whereas Xander had his sister taken from him at an untimely age, Herbert had to watch his wife die before her time.
The thrill of acquiring a powerful new weapon was lost somewhere as Xander's thoughts went back to that accursed day when his sister had disappeared inside a Nightscape, never to return. He had tried everything to get her back, but all his efforts had ended in failure.
However, Xander now saw a chance to have Nelly close to him again. Putting the Moondust bomb away, he approached the Dreamweaver and asked, "Could you teach me how to weave a Preserved Dream?"
Herbert was taken aback by this unexpected query. "It takes a tremendous amount of effort and the right conditions. But why do you need this knowledge, Dreamwalker?"
