"What the hell is a Soul Guardian?"
Xander felt his heartbeat quickening as the slimy monstrosity pulled its enormous body out of the water.
The creature shared a few anatomical similarities with a Common Red Octopus, but its massive proportions and glowing yellow eyes likened it to the Eldritch Horrors inhabiting the abyssal planes of the Nightscape.
Its slimy red body was covered in distinctive globular blooms, overgrown with bright purple mushrooms which formed tight clusters around the mossy center. Another peculiar feature was the presence of hundreds of finger-sized holes on the creature's upper body. These apertures were covered by muscular flaps which opened at regular intervals as if to allow the creature to breathe, but instead of exhaling air, they leaked a slimy green liquid that trickled down its body like sticky mucous.
