Kayla waited patiently with her child pressed to her bosom. Having lost her husband in the Cacodemon attack, she had no one else to call her own except the little boy she had adopted only a day before.

With that, the pair led Xander and his companions to the shrine's inner sanctum, where most of the daily rituals were performed by the chosen few.
They passed through a narrow rectangular doorway on the other side of the room and entered a wide-open hall lined with magnificent white marble pillars decked with fully bloomed white roses and fresh lilies.
