Though Dreamwalkers could not lie to a Last Memory, they were quite free to subvert the truth and twist the facts. Knowing this, the couple wasn't too eager to believe him so easily.
After a long spell of silence, the woman looked at her partner. They did not need any words to convey their feelings but read each other like open books.
The man had simmered down by now, but he remained skeptical about Xander's intentions.
"Do you have any other proof to show that our child is alive?" the woman asked at last.
Xander shook his head. "I don't. You just have to trust me."
"You could be trying to trick us and complete your goal," the man pitched in.
