Xander's eyes remained locked on the Lieutenant even as the guards behind him pointed their muskets at him. Despite the looming threat of violence, he refused to back down.
"Please, we're just tourists," Leena pleaded in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but her cries went unheard.
Lieutenant Adelis reached down and unclasped a handcuff hanging from his belt. "You are coming with me. Sitting in a lockup ought to cool that hot head of yours."
"I'm not going anywhere. I want to speak to your superior," Xander replied without even a hint of fear.
"Yeah, we are not going anywhere!"
"That's right. You can take your cuffs and shove them up your bottom."
"Down with the fucking tyrants!"
"Screw your stupid Count! We're tired of these good-for-nothing nobles!"
The agitated passengers vented their frustration by hurling abuses at the guards and cursing the Count.
