Marcella called her sister's house next. As expected, Mrs. Murphy didn't answer her call. Marcella had an unsettling feeling in her heart.
She left her work immediately.
Marcella went to the police station and asked for a welfare check on her sister. She knew it would out her relationship with Mellissa and might cause harm to herself, but she didn't care.
She wanted to ensure the safety of her sister's family and she begged them.
The cops weren't keen on knocking on the Romano residence as they didn't want to get on the wrong side of Andrew Romano.
Marcella had to convince them. Well, she lied that Mrs. Murphy called her last night and threatened to kidnap the baby.
The cops were not convinced. Marcella threatened to call the local Congressman. They didn't budge and laughed at her. She said that Tony Crawford is her boyfriend and he is just one call away. She saw their face getting unsettled. The senior officer asked one of the rookies to go with her to the Romano residence.
She was a little surprised to know that Tony's name carried such weight.
The Romano residence was in the wealthy suburban neighborhood of the city. The roads were lined with trees and it was pleasantly quiet. Her sister's house was big with nine bedrooms and a large garden. They couldn't even see the neighbor's house from their house.
Marcella stood behind the cop and waited for the door to open. Mrs. Murphy opened the door. Seeing the cop, she panicked.
Marcella peeked from behind the cop and Mrs. Murphy couldn't hide her anger even in front of the cop. She almost slammed the door shut.
"She's not Mrs. Romano's sister. She's a liar," Mrs. Murphy said.
The cop explained why he was there and told Mrs. Murphy that Marcella was reliable as she is the girlfriend of Tony Crawford.
Mrs. Murphy went off as if that name provoked her to oblivion. She started screaming profanities at Marcella.
Marcella tried to pacify her but failed. But that commotion made the baby wake up. He started to scream.
Mrs. Murphy told the cops to f*ck off and slammed the door in his face. Marcella's hands went cold.
The baby is at home!
She ran to the road. As expected, something was not right. There was no way Mellissa went to the cabin with Andrew leaving their baby. There just was no way!
The cop ran behind Marcella trying to stop her. Marcella told her that her sister was in danger. The cop didn't believe her. She begged to send someone to the cabin to check on them, but the cop was not believing her.
Marcella knew it was useless arguing with the cop. She got in a taxi and got back to the city. She didn't know what to do.
Tony!
She saw that even the cops knew of Tony. She decided to meet him and ask him for help. She went to the Congressman's office. But they told her that Tony went out and no one knew where he went.
Marcella didn't know what to do. It was already past noon. Her wound started to hurt and she took the pain pills. She didn't feel like eating and she walked aimlessly on the road.
Where can she go? Whom can she ask for help?
The elder Romano!
Marcella decided to meet Andrew Romano's father. That man hated her with his everything. She knew he would act much worse than Mrs. Murphy. But she had no other way.
Paul Romano was a lobbyist. He had a lot of connections. He will figure out what truly happened.
Marcella got in a cab. Paul Romano's office was in the financial district of the city. The traffic was terrible. She would have walked if not for her wound. She was so tired but she didn't want to stop trying.
-----
In the secret base, Randy got off the phone with someone. Henry was standing by his side.
"Any news?" Henry asked.
Randy hung his head in disappointment. "No. We cannot find out where Mellissa and her husband are."
Tony punched the wall.
Just as he left Marcella's home, he received news that the men guarding the Romanos were killed and Andrew Romano was taken along with his wife Mellissa.
They were trying to get the location of the two of them, but till now nothing is working.
The door creaked open, and Tony looked to the side. His eyes widened with shock. "Why are you here, Stanley? If you are here, who is tailing Bambi?" he grabbed the collar of the man who entered.
Stanley gulped. "Sorry, boss. I lost her."
"You what?" Tony raised his fist and almost punched Stanley in the face, but he stopped himself at the last moment.
"You had one f*cking job! How did you lose her?"
"She went to the cops and then to her sister's house. She then took a taxi and I missed her. I think she figured out that her sister was missing and she~"
"Useless imp!" Tony threw Stanley to the wall and walked to the door.
Just then the phone rang. Randy answered the call. Tony stood by the door waiting to know what that call was about.
Randy's hands shook as he placed the headset down.
"Paul Romano received a parcel with his daughter-in-law's ring finger. They want Bambi...alive."
Tony fisted his hands and glared at Stanely. If looks could kill, Stanley would have been reduced to ashes by Tony's fiery glare.
