Tony didn't mind her and tried to walk off.
"You do not want to let her know. Trust me," Mary insisted.
Tony was not at all pleased with Mary grabbing him. He almost slapped her. He was that enraged he wanted to hit an old woman. Mary was someone who valued propriety and I made Tony think when she was acting brash with him in this issue.
"I'll talk to her, Sir. Please… Please, it's for the best. I'm a woman, I know. She'll listen to me if I talk to her delicately. I will ask Mrs. Crawford to keep away from Beth. I can see she wants to cause trouble between the two of you. Do not let her win," Mary begged.
Tony stopped to look at Mary's face. He could not say that Mary knew nothing about his wife. Mary spends a lot of time with Marcella and she might be right. He knew Marcella was depressed about not getting pregnant. He didn't want to add to it.
"Burn these photographs," he told Mary and walked upstairs.
