Marcella waited for some time outside. She had a feeling that Tony knew a little more about this than she did. She might have been present when her father negotiated but she didn't learn anything from it. She was too emotional to handle it.

Now, Paul is coming for little Joey. Joey's entire life would be spoiled if Paul got a hold of him. They need to protect Joey from Paul.
It made her think that John Emerson knew about the deal that went wrong and Paul's involvement in it. Maybe that's why he told her that Joey would be better off with her than with Paul.
