Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Alexandre's POV

Dealing with all this was a headache. If there was one thing I hated the most, it was drama among packs. It was a waste of time and energy that could be better spent focusing on more important matters. I always tried my best to avoid it, but sometimes it was impossible to get away from.

I wanted a peaceful pack where everyone could work together in harmony. I wanted everyone to be able to trust each other and to cooperate. I wanted everyone to be able to rely on each other.

"Wishful thinking," I said aloud as I turned my attention back to the files on my desk. Addressing complaints and obtaining financial approvals was Thiago's responsibility under normal circumstances. However, since I had him digging into Eleni, I was now left with the task. I had just opened a file when a knock came knocking at the door.

"Come in," I said, not bothering to look up from the file.

"Andre," Thiago said as he entered my office.

I glanced up at him briefly and nodded in acknowledgment before he continued, "Luna Eleni says she can't accommodate us until Friday. She said the girl is in the hospital but unconscious." He tells me as he sits down.

"Interesting. I don't believe anything she says is true. There's more to this than she lets on." I replied, lowering my gaze to the file that was on my desk.

"How did Bryan take the news? I know you three were close," Thiago asked. I looked up at him and shook my head.

"He was just as surprised as I was. We all grew up together. Zeno was like a brother to me; I know Bryan thought the same. His death is a huge loss not just to us as allies but also to his pack. Zeno was the best of us. He had more wisdom than Bryan and I combined. If not for him, the Lycan Blood Pack would face a lot of enemies." I replied.

Thiago and I remained silent for a moment when I added, "I have Bryan doing some recon. Perhaps he can assist in this as well".

I had not heard from Bryan since we last spoke, and nothing made sense even then.

(Flashback)

Ring Ring Ring

As I pulled my phone out of my pocket, I noticed Bryan's number on the caller ID.

"Bryan, is everything alright?" I asked him as the call came in.

"Yeah, everything is fine. I just wanted to update you. It turns out Maribelle worked at shadowborneeeethe night Zeno died," he said, pausing for a moment.

"She confirmed that Zeno passed away three years ago. She was entrusted with his care, and she said it was the last time she saw his daughter, Arina," he said.

Arina, that name sounded like a soft melody to my ears. Even my Lycan liked the sound of the name, purring at the mention of it.

"Andre, are you there?" Bryan asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"I'm here, Bryan," I replied, putting the phone on speaker now and placing it on my desk.

"So here's the interesting part about all this. Maribelle said Luna Eleni stated Arina disappeared a few nights after the funeral, and no one had seen her since. Until the rough attack, and she reappeared in the hospital." he said.

"You mean Zeno's daughter is the Omega who was attacked and left for dead?" I asked, shocked to hear this.

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Maribelle said her injuries weren't the result of a rogue attack but rather of an assault. She suspects Eleni is behind it but cannot confirm. I'm heading there now to see for myself." He replied.

"Keep me updated. If the girl is his daughter, she could be in danger and needs protection, so get there and get her out. Zeno would have brought her here if he was still alive." I replied.

"I agree. I'll call you when I get there and have more information. I'll bring her to Lycan Blood without question if it is her." Bryan said before I thanked him for the update and ended the call.

(End of Flashback)

"How is Bryan planning to get in unnoticed?" Thiago asked.

"Maribelleabelle volunteers in the hospital from time to time. In fact, Bryan told me that she cared for Zeno before he passed away," I replied.

"Damn, that's some crazy shit," Thiago said, running his hands down his face.

I sighed and nodded in agreement when I remembered I had asked him to change the locks.

"Did you get them to replace the door locks?" I asked.

He looked at me confused. "What door locks?" he asked.

I sighed again. "The door locks that you were supposed to change have been instructed to be changed," I said.

"Oh Fuck. My bad, I got caught up with all this other stuff," he said, then quickly added. "Why are the locks being changed?".

"Jessica, need I say more?" I replied.

Thiago shook his head, then stood up and walked to the door.

"Thiago," I called out before he walked out.

"We need to ensure this entire situation with Eleni is kept confidential until we figure out what is happening. The last thing I want is for her to suspect that we have any knowledge of anything," I told him.

Thiago nodded and walked out. He shut the door behind him, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I took a deep breath and mulled over the situation. I knew I had to get to the bottom of it quickly. I walked over to the window and gazed out, trying to think. I knew I had to do something but couldn't figure out what it was. I sighed and made up my mind. I had to act at this point. There was no chance I would have to wait a week. I was the Lycan King, and my words were absolute. I wanted answers, and I would get them forcefully if needed.
