"I thought I'd join you guys for lunch." Anthony stated
He pointed to the couch where Theresa was sitting and asked, "May I sit down?".
Danielle nodded kindly, "Of course"
Elizabeth and Justin practically yelled "No!" at the same time as Danielle
Anthony chose to ignore their adamant rejections and sat down next to Elizabeth. She tried to stay as far away from him as she could, but Anthony ignored her efforts. He scooted closer to her, closing the distance between them. His frim, manly theigh brushed against hers He kept his attention on Danielle.
He softly asked, "How have you been, Danielle?"
Fine thanks," Danielle mumbled and made a maternal gesture by rubbing her hands over her belly. "A little exhausted, but I suppose that's to be expected when you're lugging around another human being.
Anthony nodded and actually grinned at that.
"Indeed."
"Justin, please sit down and stop hovering" Danielle yelled at her still scowling husband.
"We're having lunch after the movie, Anthony. I hope you don't mind, right? I would like to finish watching this movie sometime this year."
Elizabeth was immediately overcome with a sense of claustrophobia as he crammed her with his large body as he said, "Of course not."
He leaned back as he asked Lisa "What are we watching?"
Anthony managed to keep a smile on his face. Before pressing the play button, Danielle could hardly contain her own grin. Justin sat down next to her on the couch and began to glare at Anthony, who was unfairly at ease and kept his eyes glued to the television.
Justin, who was unable to maintain his anger for long with his wife draped across him, dragged Danielle close again and cuddled her against him. Danielle then dropped her head onto her husband's broad shoulder and started sniffling again. Elizabeth felt as though she was going insane as Anthony was curled up next to her, brushing his shoulders and thighs against her with each breath, and the other couple was cuddling up next to them like a couple of lovebirds.
She abruptly stood up and left the room, making her way blindly toward the kitchen, where she stood in the center of the space and gasped for air. When she turned back toward the kitchen door, there he was, watching her and looking dapper in his own interpretation of casual wear; a pair of faded blue jeans and a black dress shirt with the top button undone to reveal the strong, masculine column of his neck. She should have known that he would follow her even there.
She whispered, "Why did you come here? ".
Elizabeth immediately mistrusted his gentleness as he said, "I thought that we should spend some time together.".
"But I already told you.
She said in a soft, perplexed voice, "I don't want to spend time with you. I don't want to be near you at all!".
He cautiously entered the room . Elizabeth backed away from him until her back hit the refrigerator
"Elizabeth" he said in a gentle tone
"The only place I had" she whispered
Her eyes were wide and glistening with tears as she shook her head
"the one place I could come and be myself and you had to take that away from me as well."
She frantically tried to wipe her cheeks clean with the hem of her t-shirt as the tears gushed down her cheeks. Before moving so quickly that she hardly had time to register it, he made a soft, almost dismayed sound in his throat. He moved quickly from being close to the kitchen door to being directly in front of her, sandwiching her between his body and the refrigerator. His broad hands extended to cup her face, and his thumbs ruffled the tears glistening on her cheeks.
His voice was so low, gravelly, and thick that she could hardly make out the word
"don't"
In an attempt to get him to let go of his grip, she brought up her much smaller hands and brushed his off.
"For our benefit, Theresa, I want to make things easier."He muttered awkwardly
his face so close to hers that the breath from him caused goosebumps to appear all over her body.
She asked angrily, trying to ignore the effect his proximity was having on her very receptive body,
"Why now?"
He was so close, she tried to ignore the absurd statement. Through her tears, her soft green eyes jerked up at him. She put her hands on his broad, hard chest and tried to push him away, asking, "Is it because I'm threatening to leave this marriage without giving you your precious son, is that it?".
He remained stationary. He only uttered "No,
It's not like that, I am certain that you won't go"
