Chapter 17 - Daily

Chapter 17

What appeared in front of Ray was a complete shock. There, he saw an altar for F-rank talents, with numerous streams of water gathering and solidifying like bricks in one direction. If this continued, another altar would occupy Ray's sea of consciousness. Seeing this, Ray was unsure of what to do. He asked uncertainly, "Did I hit the jackpot or something?"

Humans don't solely rely on talent to survive. There was a time when someone had such a strong talent for the poison that it ended up poisoning the user to death. Many people have experienced such a fate. After contemplating for a while, Ray decided to wait and see if anything bad would happen next. However, the temptation was too great. Who wouldn't want to have an extra altar?

Ray continued to stare and would act if he noticed any abnormalities. But it seemed that his worries were unnecessary, as what was happening in front of him appeared calm and stable. After sixty seconds, the movement in Ray's sea of consciousness finally ceased. Based on this time, it could be concluded that this passive talent was a C-rank talent. Even though Ray now knew that this talent was C-rank, he felt a bit confused. He wondered, "What's so special about this talent? Why is the halo light so blurry?"

After pondering for a while, Ray decided to put those thoughts aside for now. He couldn't come up with any answers. Ray then approached the new altar, which was ten percent smaller than the original one. It seemed that this matter was not yet finished. Since there was nothing visibly wrong with the appearance of the altar, Ray could only attempt to touch it with his consciousness.

At that moment, Ray snapped back to his senses and was stunned. He found that several clear memories were easily accessible to him. These vivid memories were of Ray's experiences as the original body's owner. At first glance, there didn't seem to be anything extraordinary about them, but Ray knew things weren't that simple. These memories included Ray's perspective as a newborn and continued for a few weeks. How could a baby remember things? Yet, Ray could recall them as if he had experienced them himself.

What was even more astonishing was that the emotions contained within these memories didn't affect Ray's original self at all. He didn't have to worry about developing multiple personalities or other mental illnesses. Realizing this, Ray couldn't help but feel delighted. He exclaimed, "Damn, I hit the jackpot! No wonder that old geezer answered my questions as if he had devoured all the books in the library."

With a swift decision, Ray activated another talent corridor to activate the passive talent [C-rank Memory Library]. He actively sorted out the memories he wanted to store in the soul library. This method worked, but Ray still felt a bit disappointed.

It wasn't due to any side effects or restrictions, but rather because there seemed to be a special barrier preventing Ray from entering his past life's memories into the soul library. If only he could do it, how intelligent Ray would become! Just imagine, all the things that caught Ray's attention could be accessed after being stored in the soul library. How many books and academic theses had he encountered during his time as a photocopy worker? Wouldn't he become a renowned professor after this happened?

Although disappointed, Ray could only be grateful for now. After all, isn't this like having a legendary photographic memory? Even though such claims are often exaggerated. However, the process of transferring memories into the soul library is a bit slow and requires a significant amount of energy. This was probably why this immensely valuable talent was only ranked as C.

But if Ray wanted to quickly establish this library, he could activate this talent in every corridor or activate them all at once every day. Of course, Ray would need to be prepared to spend some money on buying various nutritional fluids to meet the energy requirements. With this in mind, Ray could only search for ways to fulfill his energy needs most cost-effectively.

Having considered his options and finding no other immediate solution, Ray began to focus on his martial arts training until he became exhausted.

...

"Hey, where should we go camping?" Agni asked excitedly while eating in the cafeteria.

Ray remained silent upon hearing the question, clearly unsure of what to suggest. Besides, they had planned the camping trip to be several months away at the earliest, so there was no need to rush.

While Hamar and Clara were contemplating suggesting a suitable location, Lucas, who was also sitting with them, appeared a bit confused.

"Camping? Camping for what?" Lucas asked, unable to keep silent any longer.

Upon hearing this, the other four finally realized their oversight. They had forgotten that Lucas hadn't heard their previous discussions.

With that, Agni enthusiastically took the initiative to explain.

Afterward, Lucas finally understood and began to propose something.

"How about we go to the Sky-Collapsed Slave World?"

This suggestion piqued the interest of the other four.

However, Ray felt a bit concerned and couldn't help but ask, "Ah, are you serious? Isn't the Sky-Collapsed Slave World dangerous?"

Ray thought it would be too hasty to venture into the collapsing sky at this point.

Lucas wanted to explain, but unfortunately, Agni interrupted excitedly, "

"Yeah, Lucas' idea is fantastic!"

Ray, curious about the suggestion, asked, "Why?"

Before Agni could respond, Clara's soft voice interrupted Agni's enthusiastic exclamations. "The Sky-Collapsed Slave World is harmless. It's a unique place devoid of living creatures since its appearance. It only contains remnants of civilization and soul-training legacies. The local government designated the Skyfall as a training ground for rookies like us. The beasts and monsters within the Sky-Collapsed Slave World are similar to the ones we saw on the outskirts of the city. Every creature there is a Monster 0."

Ray nodded upon hearing this, realizing that it was indeed a good location.

After a few more exchanges, the group of five agreed to make the Sky-Collapsed Slave World their camping destination.

...

Ray returned home after spending some time at the library. After completing his daily routine, he rolled up his sleeves and began scraping the prepared skins to make them smoother. He dedicated an hour to working on two different-sized skins.

Following that, Ray took a frame with gauze and started printing the paper. He left several pieces of paper-mâché outside to dry.

Afterward, Ray resumed his martial arts practice.

...

Time passed swiftly, and Ray maintained his disciplined routine for several days. Now it was Friday, and Ray returned home earlier than usual, clearly eager to continue with their camping plans.

As Ray was about to bid farewell to his family, he noticed the tearful eyes of his younger sister, which tugged at his heartstrings. Witnessing her expression, Ray couldn't help but sigh helplessly. "
