Mr and Mrs Curtis lead Deva and Slyvian into the house, seems like Mrs Curtis was almost done with lunch. Deva smiled she had really missed her mother's cooking but the food in the castle was also good too.
"Mom what are we having for lunch.."
Mrs Curtis smiled and showed Deva the menu it was mainly her favorite food and her parents preferences they were going to eat for lunch, Deva's eyes reddened a little she was not here yet her parents were eating her favorite food, did they miss her that much.
"Mom it's been hard on you.."
Deva hugged her mother silently, she was not Slyvian's wife she couldn't carry her parents to the castle and even if she did it wasn't proper.
Mrs Curtis held Deva's hands softly and smiled seeing her Deva today had cleared all the fear and doubt in her heart.
"Now..now go meet your father and the king.."
Deva nodded knowing Slyvian personality she hurried over to see her father and Slyv playing a game of chess.
And from the looks of it her father wasn't losing out.
Incredible!
Deva always knew her father was good at chess she didn't know he was this good.
It looked like they were on a stalemate but Me Curtis laughed out, he had finally found a worthy opponent.
"Haha...I have finally found a worthy opponent, your majesty what your next move.."
Slyvian stroked his chin at first he was playing the game with Mr Curtis because of his respect for him but now he was really enjoying the game, this Mr Curtis might a good strategist on the battlefield.
"Mr Curtis is really a strong opponent, you seem to have blocked all my moves.."
However with Slyvian's terrifying intelligence how could Mr Curtis win over him, merely didn't want him to lose so early on account that he was Deva's father.
"But!."
Slyvian moved the black chess three steps and stopped a smile appearing on his face, it was then Mr Curtis released that he had been cornered.
"Mr Curtis what's your next move going to be.."
Mr Curtis lips twitched what kind of man was the king, he had managed to block all his escape route without him even knowing.
"I forfeit..his majesty is truly good at chess.." Mr Curtis smiled and said.."A worthy opponent inside."
Deva watched on the side although she didn't expected her father to win he had given Slyvian a hard time wining thus making him a winner as well.
"Father you did good!.."
Deva gave her father a thumbs up and sat next to him, Mr Curtis smiled and place a hand on her shoulder.
"But you're even better aren't you..."
Deva didn't dare to nod or else who knows when they got back to the castle Slyvian might drag her to play a game of chess with him. Who knows the kind of requests he would make if he won.
"Really! We must certainly play a game when we get back.."
Deva gulped but she didn't say anything, but to Slyvian her silence meant yes.
Mrs Curtis called everyone to the table, Slyvian couldn't help but look at Mrs Curtis, her food didn't make him feel repulsion instead it smelt quite nice.
If Mrs Curtis cooking was this good then Deva's cooking must be better.
"Let's bless the food before we eat.."
Mrs Curtis stretched her hands to Deva and Mr Curtis, while Deva and Mr Curtis stretched their right hands to Slyvian.
Slyvian pursed his lips and held their hands, pray? they believed God exist maybe he did seeing Deva praying so sincerely Slyvian squeezed her hand gently.
"Deva has always been a blessing to us.."
Mrs Curtis began after they finished praying, and everyone began to eat listening to Mrs Curtis.
"You know we got married when we were in our twenties but we had Abi in our thirties.."
Slyvian raised his brow was there a mystery behind Deva's birth. He didn't know how the Curtis got pregnant but he had already known Deva right from the room. He could only laugh when they talked about Deva's childhood because he had seen most of it.
"Some might think we are Deva's grandparents.."
Mr Curtis bluntly making Mrs Curtis hit him, how could he say they were old.
"The only one who is old is you.."
Mrs Curtis grumbled making Mr Curtis and
Deva laugh her mother would always grumbled when someone called her old.
"As I was saying we had gone to many places searching for ways to conceive. Until one day we met a priest he prophesied to us that we would conceive of Deva on a dark and stormy night but I would give birth to Deva in odd circumstances.."
Mrs Curtis smiled and held Deva's hand, she had given birth to Deva in the castle. Seems like Deva was destined to be with someone from the royal family.
"Did it happen.."
Mrs Curtis nodded at first they didn't believe the priest but when they found out they had gotten pregnant they believed.
"I gave birth to Deva in the castle, the queen was my wet nurse that day and you know the oddest thing that happened that day.. Deva refused to cry so only let out a tiny cry to show she was alive but other than that she refused to cry, when I carried her in my arms she smiled ever so brightly, her smile was a like a ray of sunshine. The maids were envious of me even the queen was envious, they wanted to make Deva a princess but we refused only to see that our Deva would be a queen instead.."
Slyvian only smiled slightly but didn't say anything.
Lunch had ended and it was time for Slyvian and Deva to leave. Mr and Mrs Curtis hugged their daughter dearly, they would miss her but they knew she would be fine.
"You highness I know this is asking a lot but please take care of our daughter, she came to this world smiling our only wish is for her to continue smiling and be happy for the rest of her life.."
Slyvian turned and nodded since Deva was his he would definitely take care of her but he would give her parents the assurance they needed.
"I will always make sure she's happy and protect her even with my life if I have to.."
The couple watch their daughter leave they weren't sad, they were glad they always thought Slyvian was a despicable man but it seems like there was some good in him.
