His voice vibrated through the thin layer of her shirt, and she had absolutely no choice at that moment but to be honest.
"That's good."
She felt the satisfaction spread through him like wildfire and continued, unable to stop herself.
"I — I don't know why, but I trust you."
He laughed and tucked his nose into the crook of her neck, nuzzling her and she shivered from his touch. "You're smart, that's why. You know what's good for you.''
The words felt like a reward somehow, fanning out inside her head and lighting up her nerve endings. She leaned her head back against his chest and didn't fight it.
She didn't have the energy left to fight it.
Her voice came out a sigh. "I thought Zei had rules. He wouldn't allow this, would he?"
He nodded against her, smiling into her skin. "Useless, meaningless rules."
"Like what?"
"He's forbidden me to kiss you."
