As a child, colors brought me delight,
But as an adult, staying within the lines feels like a fight.
As a child, stories ignited my imagination's fire,
As an adult, writing them weighs upon me, higher and higher.
As a child, love flowed effortlessly and pure,
As an adult, fear seeps in, making connections obscure.
As a child, unicorns and princesses filled my dreams,
As an adult, it's devils and witches that life sometimes seems.
As a child, I thought I held the power to disappear,
As an adult, I see the truth, I wasn't truly here.
No amount of love or effort can rewind time,
Yet, I must learn to embrace love anew, and let my heart climb.
