Chapter 25 - A Test of Resilience

As Kai made his way home from school, he realized it would be best to store the Dragonheart sword safely in his Inventory.

He didn't want his family to discover the real sword and get into trouble for bringing it home. So, he sent the weapon into the virtual storage space, satisfied that it was securely hidden.

Reaching his house, Kai entered and hurriedly left a message for his family, stating that he was tired and not hungry, planning to head straight to his room for some much-needed rest.

He swiftly made his way to his room, locked the door behind him, and set his bag aside.

Eager to catch up on the notifications he had ignored since lunchtime, Kai opened his Status Window.

The screen filled with a series of messages, displaying his various updates:

[A Sudden Quest has appeared]

[Your Strength has increased by 3]

[Your Defense has increased by 4]

[Your Endurance has increased by 4]

[Your Proficiency in Spiritual Manipulation has risen]

[Your Proficiency in Pain Tolerance has risen]

[You have acquired a new item]

As he scrolled through the notifications, one message caught his eye and piqued his curiosity the most—the appearance of a sudden quest.

Intrigued, he clicked on the Quest Window to view the details:

[Quest]

[Defeat the Senior who is making troubles with you in the fight]

[Rewards: 40 Exp Points, A Low-Level Random Chest]

Kai chuckled at the realism of the quest description and the idea that any sudden event could be turned into a quest.

With a determined grin, he muttered to himself, "Two birds with one stone."

Turning his attention to the Inventory, Kai accessed the item he had received from Master Liang—Dragonheart.

A sudden screen materialized in front of him, surprising him with its vivid details:

Kai marveled at the level of detail provided for a weapon, satisfied with the information he had acquired.

Eager to see the changes in his stats and skills, he opened the Attribute Window, revealing the following:

As Kai examined the changes in his stats and skills, he realized that he hadn't used his Unused Stat Points yet.

After some consideration, he decided to allocate them to his Intelligence, Charisma, and\ Luck.

He believed that the other stats could be raised through training. With a few clicks, he distributed the points and received notifications from the system:

[Your Intelligence has increased by 8]

[Your Charm has increased by 8]

[Your Luck has increased by 9]

Feeling content with his choices, Kai closed the window and dedicated himself to training for several hours. Exhausted but satisfied with his progress, he finally went to sleep, seeking a proper rest before the challenges that lay ahead.

In the morning, Kai woke up and followed his usual morning routine.

Before leaving for school, he retrieved the Dragonheart sword from his Inventory, ensuring he wouldn't raise any suspicions later. With the sword safely hidden beneath his jacket, he set off for school.

Arriving at the school, Kai headed directly to the training grounds.

The fight was scheduled for the morning, and he wanted to prepare himself mentally and physically.

As he reached the training grounds, he noticed that everyone from the Combat Department had gathered, including the Senior who had caused trouble before.

Approaching his friends from the Combat Department, they bombarded him with questions, expressing their concern.

Kai answered each query, reassuring them of his determination and readiness for the upcoming match.

As the time for the fight drew near, his friends wished him the best, their supportive words bolstering his confidence.

Standing alone in the Life-and-Death Arena, Kai glanced at his opponent—the Senior.

The referee's voice echoed across the training grounds, announcing the names and classes of the combatants.

From the right side, Kai, a Novice Rank Lower Level Sword User, faced the Renjiro, Novice Rank Middle-Level Blade User. The referee clarified the conditions of the match—the fight would end if either combatant suffered an injury, surrendered, or died.

To balance the odds, the Senior would fight with a handicap—he could not use his left arm throughout the entire match.

Taking a deep breath, the referee's voice resonated, "Begin!"
