A query resonates relentlessly in the great abyss of existence, plaguing the depths of my mind.
Is there actually any meaning to this thing we call 'Life'?
Kings rise and fall, politicians scheme and deceive, sinners repent and virtuous men perish, the rich luxuriate in affluence while the poor wither in poverty.
Nonetheless, they all reach the same unavoidable end: death.
And death, oh how it diminishes everything.
The traces of our struggles are engulfed by darkness, reducing them to a mere cypher: zero.
Rebirth may occur repeatedly, yet the outcome remains the same. So, I wonder, what is the point of continuing to live?
But who instils these ideas in us? The society in which we live.
Just like that, I succumbed to life's sorrow and took my own life after being a victim of bullying and parental abuse.
Until, of course, fate intervened.
A mystery apparition stood before me, claiming to be a vampire, within the bounds of my misery.
A creature who revealed the reality of life and reincarnation.
But I had one goal in mind: to never experience life again, because death was all I desired.
Peace from this never-ending agony. However, this wasn't something negotiable.
"Grant my desires, sow chaos among humanity, those who yearn for our annihilation, and you shall attain your desires," the mysterious vampire said with a twisted smile on his lips.
Confusion gnawed at my core, yet, I had no choice but to trust this person.
My soul was transmigrated as Kleir La Brume, an aristocratic vampire after an agreement was reached.
However, it exposed a grim reality. Vampires, who have been cursed, had their strength dwindling to feebleness.
In contrast, something incomprehensible happened to me.
Humans? Nothing but little insects to be crushed under my feet.
What could they possibly do to me to cause harm? Death? That will have no bearing on me!
Unfortunately, it would not be so straightforward.
How could I bring vampires back to their old glory? How could I lead them to victory while keeping my true identity hidden from the humans?
One answer echoed resolutely: control.
Every character I meet will be a pawn in a greater scheme. Each assigned a role: bishop, knight, rook, or queen.
And I, in this macabre game, shall assume the position of the king.
"Ahn~ Let the fun begin!"
The curtains rise on a nightmarish trip where chaos reigns supreme.
The question still echoes through the void: Can meaning be found within this nothingness known as life?
