Sometimes things happen for a reason, but this one? I have no clue.

"Thank you." Mr. Argent said as he took the bag of groceries from my hand, just in time for my phone to chime.

-Derek, not looking good.-

I grumbled internally as I saw the message from Scott. If I don't act soon, I'll have a werewolf corpse on my hands, something I have zero experience with. For some weird reason, my mind is suggesting that Tara would have an idea of what to do with it.

Just as I looked up from the phone, Allison walked out of the house, the last of the groceries moved in and done with. Truth be told, I couldn't stand another moment of Allison's father's not-so-subtle glare, but I need to if I want to find the bullet that's going to save Derek's life.

"Do you still wanna study?" I asked her, hoping she does or else a werewolf is toast.

"She'll concentrate better on her own." Chris interjected before she could answer.

An awkward silence enveloped us as I stared at him, before giving myself a nod and went with it.

"Um… guess I'll see you later then?" I shrugged.

"At school." Chris sternly replied, Allison sharply narrowed her eyes at her father before rolling them over in exhaustion.

"See you around then." He smirked, trying to shoo me off, but Kate suddenly spawned into the conversation from behind me.

"Oh come on, Chris, really?" She grinned cheekily as she threw her arm around me and leaned against my shoulder. "They were making out in the garage, not shooting amateur porn."

My mind went blank as her words reached me, and my eyes darted towards Allison, who was immediately trying to clear the misunderstanding.

"Oh no! No! We were not making out." She swiftly rejected it. "Stiles was here to tutor me on chemistry."

"Of course, darling." Kate smirked. "See Chris, it was chemistry and not practical biology. How can you doubt these cute little things."

Her hands jerked me against her, and she smiled in a cheeky, perked-up way, like she had found herself a fun little plaything.

"You, with the dashing black eyes, don't be so stiff, you're staying for dinner."

She said and left no room for debate as she casually strolled into the house without looking back, Chris gave her back a trailing cold look and turned his eyes towards me as she faded from his view.

"You eat meat?" He asked with brows arching up dangerously.

I didn't speak verbally as I had a dirty answer for that and stopped myself from throwing it out there and instead gave him a gulping nod.

He nodded back and gestured for me to get in with a wave of his hand.

—------

I sat at the table taking a sip of water as I took long breaths controlling my thudding heart, the dishes clattering every few seconds as Mrs. Argent passed the food between the tables.

"It has been quite a while since I saw you, Stiles." She said with a motherly smile.

"Yeah, Mrs. Argent, it's been a while." I replied with a nod.

"You guys met before?" Chris asked, seemingly slightly surprised.

"You don't remember Chris? I told you a boy took Allison to the 'beach with the sands'." She threw a smirk my way as she said the last part.

"Yeah, I do." He nodded and turned his gaze towards me. "That was you?"

"Yes."

"It was a curfew night right?" He asked trailing, sounding doubtful of his memory but I knew where he was going with it.

"Yeah, you're right." I agreed once again.

"Isn't that very irresponsible of you, young man, breaking the laws?"

"Probably." I nodded, getting the attention of the whole family. "But as a teenager, I believe irresponsible is kinda our thing."

They all shared a chuckle and soon the table went silent once again, I smiled and took another sip of the water.

"Would you like something else to drink other than water, Stiles?" She asked.

"Oh… no, I'm good. Thanks." I shook my head calmly and placed the glass back on the table.

"We can get you some beer?" I gave Chris a curious look as he suggested it.

"No thanks, I don't drink beer." I smiled.

"Why because you are underage?" He asked with a smile on his face.

"No, because it leaves a bad aftertaste." I replied, half serious and half sarcastic, letting them wonder whether I was joking or not.

"A shot of tequila?" He suggested once again.

"Dad, really?" Allison stepped in, unable to handle any more of her dad's antics.

"You don't drink, Stiles?"

"I don't think I should now." I replied ominously. "Besides, the law says I'm not old enough to."

"That doesn't seem to stop many teenagers." Mrs. Argent commented, sounding worried.

"No but it should." I answered back.

"Good answer. A total lie but well played, Stiles." Kate smirked playfully as she swirled her fork in the plate. "You may yet survive the night."

I grinned back as I ate my part of the dish and just as I was about to swallow, Chris started his questions once again.

"You ever smoke pot?" He asked and caused me to gulp vigorously.

"Okay, changing the channel to something a little more conservative." Kate interjected, changing the subject.

Good cause the answer for that question wouldn't have been what they would have expected.

"So Stiles, Allison tells us you're on the Lacrosse team." I nodded. "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that. How do you play?"

"Um.. Well, you know field hockey?" Kate nodded. "it's a lot like that except the sticks have nets."

And they all nodded at the new knowledge, just as my phone chimed, another message from Scott.

-Call me! Asap!-

"Can you slap check like Hockey?"

"Um.. Yeah but it's only the gloves and the sticks."

"Sounds violent, I like it." She bit the words with a grin as she poked the fork into her food.

"Stiles' amazing too." Allison chidded in. "He scored two goals on the last game."

"I guess." Chris blandly replied.

Allison slumped back begrudgingly, I sensed her heart spiking abnormally, I let out a sigh and extended my hand out towards her's and gently patted on her wrist.

Her heart rate slowled down and she calmed herself.

"I think I'll take that shot of tequila." I smirked.

Chris and Kate glanced my way seemingly surprised while Mrs. Argent chuckled, which was followed by everybody else.

Chris shook his head playfully but his sudden smile dropped and replaced by stern glare.

"You were kidding, right?"

"Maybe?"

—---

"What am I supposed do with him?!" Scott yelled from the other end, nearly breaking my eardrums.

"Why? What's happening?" I whispered loudly.

"He's bleeding everywhere and he's starting to smell. So bad!"

"Like what?" I

 asked weirdly curious enough.

"Like a sick old wet dog dying."

That's extensively too accurate of a comment.

"Did you find it?" Derek's voice came over.

"How am I supposed to find one bullet?! They have literally thousands!" I cried back pacing around on the dark corner of the house. "This house is like a freaking Walmart of guns!"

"Look if you don't find it, I'm dead, all right?"

"Can you please stop reminding me, I have pretty great memory." And I was starting to think whether or not it is going to be a bad thing.

"Then do better, find the bullet." He repeated and hanged up.

"Fuck." I cursed as I clenched my phone.

As I looked around the house in a exhausted glance, I noticed a door with a password lock on it, something I didn't see in any other. Curiously, I stepped closer and tried to open it, but it was unsurprisingly locked.

"Urgh-hmm-hhmmm." Kate cleared her throat, earning my attention. She stood behind me, leaning against the doorway, shooting me a curious glance.

"You look like a little lost puppy."

"I'm just looking for the bathroom." I replied.

"Bathroom?" She raised her brows. "Does that look like a bathroom?"

I turned around and gave the locker a look and shook my head.

"No." She mouthed and pointed me towards the left. "Use the guest bedroom."

"Thanks." I walked towards the bedroom while she stepped out of the corner and went back.

I flipped the light switch on and stepped in and just as I did, I noticed a pair of bags laid under the bed, the same ones I saw last night.

I curiously knelt forward and pulled them out. I could make out the shape of a wooden box.

I opened the bag and pulled out the box, it was dark brown, almost black, I flipped open its latch and lo and behold.

It was a box filled with bullets of various sizes, shotgun shells, pistol rounds and much more but something else drew my attention, it was a plain looking box with a blue flower drawn over it.

I opened that box and my eyes landed on a long shiny silver bullet with a tint of blue to it and one of them was missing.

"Got it." I muttered.

I snatched a bullet into my pocket and closed the box and just as I did, I noticed a set of words etched over it.

'Aconit napél bleu nordique.' And if my high school French didn't betray me, I believe it meant.

'Nordic blue monkshood.'

AKA

'Wolfsbane.'
