Chapter 138 - DxD 0138: Distraction

"You think you've got me all figured out, don't you, Bael?" Vali asked Abaddon with a venomous tone before smashing his fist in his direction, breaking through his Destruction energy barrier at the cost of a bloody arm that reached Abaddon, punching him away.

"I don't?" He asked Vali as he stabilized himself in the air, "It seems pretty straightforward to me." He created multiple balls of Destruction energy that morphed into the shape of snakes that were eerily familiar to Vali. They were the same as Ophis' snakes.

"I don't care about all of that stuff, Bael," Vali said as he healed his hand and attacked Abaddon again, "All I want is a good fight that keeps me entertained in this boring world."

"Hm?" Abaddon got distracted as Vali's punch reached him. He grabbed the punch mid-swing and blasted Vali away, "So that's what you were trying. Do you really think that your little friends can steal my things?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Vali stabilized himself and attacked Abaddon again.

"You wanted me to fight you seriously, right?" Abaddon's nonchalance was nowhere to be seen as he looked at Vali with a blank look with fury bubbling in his eyes, "You got it."

‹BOOST›

Abaddon appeared behind Vali and punched him as a destruction beam escaped his fist. It was blocked by Vali's energy, but Abaddon disappeared and appeared at another spot.

‹BOOST›

With another boost, he punched Vali once again, before the man could even react or call upon Divine Dividing. The Destruction beam resulting from Abaddon's punch broke through Vali's protection before he finally reacted to divide it away.

‹BOOST›

Abaddon pursued Vali and appeared before him. He then pulled the two snakes of Destruction energy that he had previously created and sent them to attack Vali.

"This has gone on long enough …" Abaddon mumbled as he looked in the direction of his house.

‹TRANSFER›

Moments later, the boosts that he'd accumulated had been transferred to the snakes that ballooned into a fierce state. Even as Vali tried to divide them, it wasn't enough as they still reached him. He had barely brought the first one to a manageable level, but it just coiled around him while the other one, which was still in its peak condition, just swallowed Vali within it, enveloping him in an endless amount of Destruction energy.

As Abaddon saw Vali being consumed by his attack, he sent a blast of Destruction energy at the walls of the sub-dimension.

"What are you doing!" Sirzechs called him, but it was too late. The orb of energy clashed with the boundary of the sub-dimension and destroyed the barrier, creating a rift that led to the outside world.

"I don't like people going after what's mine," Abaddon said. Just as he was about to fly away, a cough made him zero in on Vali's defeated figure.

"I must say, you are a worthy opponent, Bael …" Vali said with his back turned to Abaddon.

"I don't have the time to deal with you," Abaddon sent another destruction blast at him that Vali barely dodged.

"You're a loose canon, Bael," Vali said, "You did something to make the half-vampire disappear from the sub-dimension, causing us endless trouble. Not to mention this morning's events …"

"Let me show you the true power of the Heavenly Dragon," The white-haired Lucifer descendant started his chant.

"I, who am about to awaken,

"Am the Heavenly Dragon who lost all to the principles of supremacy.

"I envy the 'infinite' and I pursue the 'dream'."

Abaddon felt a foreign energy zeroing in on Vali's figure that he couldn't quite recognize but felt that it was familiar to his draconic energy.

'Draig …' Abaddon called upon the trusty dragon spirit of the Boosted Gear.

'He's activating the Juggernaut Drive …' Draig said in his head, 'If he follows through, your battle will decimate the entire country without that barrier.'

"Sick power-up," Abaddon said with a frown on his face, "I have someone else to deal with though …" He snapped his fingers as a magic circle appeared on top of Vali. It took a few seconds to take form, but with Vali busy chanting to summon the Juggernaut Drive, Abaddon had enough time. When Abaddon snapped his fingers again, Vali collapsed mid-chant, seemingly asleep.

"Your time will come too, Vali," Abaddon said, "Sooner or later." He then flew directly toward his house to combat the person who was attacking the defenses of his house.

"What did he do?" Gabriel, standing behind Michael asked. As Abaddon disappeared into the mist that had been surrounding Kuoh, the others stayed within the battlefield as they observed Sona and Rias fighting the magicians alongside their devil servants.

Azazel was the one to answer Gabriel's query, "It was a complex sleeping spell that he cast directly on Vali. It's the kind of spell that requires physical touch, but he just cast it with a snap …" He had already examined the spell as best as he could without having had a clear look at the magic circle.

Abaddon flew to his house and didn't see anything out of the ordinary except for a faint mist that enveloped the entire block. That wouldn't be too suspicious, but he could feel his house's defenses being attacked and the assailants would be able to breach through in a few minutes at most.

He cast a few spells to examine the discrepancies before deducing that his house had most likely been isolated within another dimension.

'What kind of item could they have used to isolate my house in such a short term …' Abaddon frowned in thought, 'Unlike Kuoh, I have multiple spells to prevent anyone from isolating my house away from the main material plane without my permission.'

He had to spend almost an entire minute examining the fog and the surrounding magical signatures to figure out what he needed to hit to enter the sub-dimension. During this time, he'd already stacked a couple of boosts.

'Yo Draig …' Abaddon spoke in his head, 'I remember you mentioning something about a power to Penetrate through things …'

«Yes. PENETRATE is a core power similar to BOOST and TRANSFER. But it requires a high level of connection with the Gear to access.»

'I think my connection to the gear at this point is high enough …' Abaddon said.

«With the Gear? Sure. With the spirit of the gear? Not so much. Ultimately, I am the one sponsoring your power.»

Abaddon got a wry expression on his face, 'You're mad that I haven't been talking to you lately, huh?'

«It's more of a feeling of indifference that I have toward you. It would obviously be difficult for me to care for you when you spend most of your time ignoring the Gear's existence and hoping that your connection-enhancement spells will do the work for you.»

'I understand your issue with me, Draig buddy.' Abaddon told Draig, 'But can we have this conversation when I don't have some unknown people trying to destroy my home?'

«Fine. You can access the PENETRATE power now. But I expect some changes to be made from now on. I am not interested in voyeurism and usually isolate myself during your 'activities' but I expect that you keep me in the loop with what's going on.»

Hearing Draig's huff, Abaddon smiled a genuine smile, "For sure, buddy." He said before boosting himself and creating a sphere of Destruction energy. He brought his other hand over the sphere and started transferring more energy into it. He spent a few seconds completely powering his sphere to the point that it had turned into a palm-sized sphere of pure crimson. In fact, Abaddon had compressed so much energy into the sphere that it looked more like a crystal than some kind of energy attack.

By this point, Abaddon had also stacked multiple boosts that were all going to be applied to the Destruction crystal.

‹TRANSFER›

As Abaddon transferred his boosts to the sphere, he willed it to turn into the form of a spear before grasping the handle. At this point, his control over Destruction energy had grown so refined that even with the attack being boosted by multiple factors, it was still in a compressed crystalline form, fully in Abaddon's control.

'Let's see who's trying to fuck with my things …' Abaddon narrowed his eyes angrily as he pulled his arm back before throwing his spear at the spot where he'd detected the anchor of the sub-dimension.

As Abaddon threw the Destruction spear in a seemingly random direction, it collided with an invisible wall and stopped in mid-air. A crackling sound was heard, signifying the breaching of the dimension. The mist started clearing as if being blown away by a violent wind. An invisible barrier started breaking, distorting the space in front of Abaddon before it disappeared, revealing the view inside the sub-dimension.

"That damn Vali, he couldn't even keep this fucker occupied for a couple of minutes …" Abaddon heard a pained voice that spoke between coughs and zeroed in on a black-haired man who had a hand on his chest and was coughing up blood. Abaddon's breaking of the sub-dimension had clearly hurt the man.

"You must be this generation's wielder of Dimension Lost …" Abaddon said with a glint in his eyes.
