On the first moon, Laz was being very aggressive on the landing zones as they opened up for his men, but between the Sacramentum just throwing themselves at the clone armies as the volunteer forces held the front versus the mercenaries as mechs piloted by Polemistis warriors kept it even.
But slowly and steadily, the numbers of the clone's, volunteers, and mechs went downward as the invading focus became more dominant. Laz had to figure it out and fast. "Lasky, what are the status on the mortars?" Laz asked through the communicator as he was gunning down a pack of Apparazza.
"Mortars are down, something snuck behind the lines and took them down!" Lasky turned around as he saw the creature who took their mortar cannons offline. "Get over here you scaly bastard!" Lasky opened fire as all Laz heard was gunfire.
"Fuck!" Laz dropped right behind cover as his mind raced, why couldn't someone make the choices for him, he was too confused at what was happening, how could he do it? Looking up to the Merle he had a glimmer of hope hit him where it was needed. "All forces fall back two lines, reconverge and hit them harder." Laz popped up from his cover as he opened fire into the enemy forces in front of him.
"I am taking out what killed our heavy support, Captain Logan, prepare exfil to the planet. Worst case scenario if we can't hold this moon, we cannot give them that planet!" Laz shouted as he sprinted off to the backline as the captains were confused.
"You can't be serious, we would rather die and lay down our lives, its what we have been taught!" Logan shouted through the comms as his squad was surrounded by Apparazza as they were falling backwards.
"Except I am, I value you saving your lives over mine. We will hold on as long as possible." Laz made it to the backline as he felt like something was off. The creature was close to him. Laz turned around as the area was clear, the distant gunfire growing slowly closer as he felt a green glow near him. Turning a plasma sword swung down near him as Laz rolled out of the way, he started number crunching in his head about the heat and if the new armor could take one slash.
"Who are you?" Laz opened fire with his rifle where the sword was as the bullets kept flying hitting one of the armored artillery tanks in the distance as Laz kept his head on a swivel, this creature was beyond skilled and beyond anything he had faced on his own.
"What you creatures call Beret. That is my name." It spoke into his ear as the sword came downward at Laz's shoulder pad as it deflected the sword. Laz rotated his body as he sprayed the paint applicant of a flare on Beret. Smiling as the invisibility became useless. Beret stood there as now matters didn't change. "Much like the ape's, so dirty and direct."
"Come say that to my face." His shoulder was numb as he rotated it in a circle. Beret deactivated his invisibility as his dark green armor glinted among the light. Beret walked forward as he sent a slash to his right side, blocking it with his wrist gauntlet. Sending a right handed jab and a hard left hook as Beret watched this attack do nothing. Beret swung the blade down to the left side of Laz as he blocked it with his wrist gauntlet on that side and drop kicked Beret as he slid back a foot.
"Why do all primates all share the same mind? All they crave is violence." Beret stopped powering his sword, throwing several punches that Laz tried to block as it shattered his armor. Piercing into his skin and breaking his bones. Beret picked the general up as Laz squirmed.
"All I know, is that Astral is a man of history, and if it does repeat itself." Laz pulled his knife out and let it fall down as he kicked it into the skull of Beret as his hand crushed Laz's windpipe and neck. Falling to the ground Laz escaped the grip of the Tizzle. Logan ran to his side as their forces were falling inward more and more layers.
"Sir, our forces are falling quick, what should we do?" Logan leaned up Laz as he was heavily wounded. Laz dug deep and found what he needed to find deep inside of himself.
"Full ordered retreat." His voice was graveled due to his neck wound. "Twenty clones, we will hold the line with two mechs and hold out till they are gone, then fight to the last before detonating the planet." Logan was shocked at the plan as he gave the command for evacuation.
"All forces who want to buy time for the others. Join Laz and I on the front line!" He shouted as they made their way forward. Once they reached the front line, two squads of clones stayed by their commander and general who just put everything on the line for them. The evacuation ships started flying to the planet as Laz and his men held firm.
"You men are honorable but in a fight you can no longer win!" A mercenary mech aimed his cannon at the clones, firing the cannon shot that was blocked by a shield deployed from the Merle. Laz looked up as they had someone watching them.
"Fire the hyper rocket." One of the clones preceded the command as the mech fell, Laz pointed to Logan and then to the Merle as the explosion went off. Logan understood the message as he sent it through to the high command.
Ally read it as she was startled. 'Destroy the moon when Laz says to.' Why would they need to do that? It clicked for her as she put on a space helmet and went outside to the airlock. Standing on the outside of the hull awaiting the message.
One clone died after another, the forces of the Apparazza and the Tizzle's were too much when paired with the boots on the ground for the imperial army, the five clones had their backs to the wall of the building they needed to protect. Two more clones died as Logan was one of them. Laz picked up his rifle as the two other clones were gunned down.
"Surrender now!" One of the imperial guards pointed his rifle at Laz as he opened fire into the crowd, taking some of them down, they retaliated by turning his chest into mush as the undersuit kept it together, he fell face first into the ground as the guardsmen looked at him.
"So we won and enter this building to disable the relay's to drop the shielding on the giant thing this moon was protecting?" A guardsmen looked around as Laz still had life in him. "Well, I hope you like death. Be put down like the bitch you are." The barrel was on the back of his head as the helmet rolled off.
"I say the same to you." Laz pressed the button on his wrist gauntlet as Ally received the green light from it. Hearing the gunshot on the other side that splattered his brain into mush across the ground. She looked at the moon with a tear in her eye. Pointing at it a dragon was summoned that flew around her.
With the motion of a bang from a finger gun, the dragon charged its attack and blew the moon into non-existence with a cyan beam. The reinforcements from the moon were able to help the planet, those on the moon would be memorialized.
