Chapter 145 - Astral's Rise Part 95.5: Power from Within

Astral and Jaimie stood at a giant doorway as their armor was hidden and their clothes as clear as day. "This is the capital of the independents. And since they don't know who we are, we can sneak right in." Astral explained as he and Jaimie blended into the crowd around them, holding each other's hand to not lose each other.

Jaimie and Astral made it to the entrance as the guards dressed in silver chrome body armor with white undersuits stopped them. "Halt, what is your reason to be here?" His voice was monotone and bored. Each answer was the same.

"We are seeking shelter from the empire, please let me and my husband pass." Jaimie flared her eyes up as the man fell in love. "Yes miss, anything for you." He wrote something on the clipboard as the other guards were kinda puzzled. He handed the two of them the slip as they went on their way into the capital.

"Well, that works still." Jaimie muttered as they were well out of earshot of the guards. Walking around the bustling city. "The address on this paper seems important. Wonder if I tricked him into giving us the capital building?"

"You did, wow." Astral and Jaimie were both impressed as they were at the same conclusion of thought. Her powers were back and she was ecstatic to be ready for the next part of the mission.

"Everything feels so metallic and robotic." Jaimie touched the building as it shocked her. The feeling was too familiar as she looked up. No one was imbedding the building with electricity unless it was the generators.

"We need to go to the top." Astral twisted his hands as the two of them had a purple hue envelop them as they started going into the sky.

"Wait, wait, why is the dome getting closer?" Jaimie looked where their gravity shifted.

"This building is double sided on the inside and outside access?" Astral didn't know the tech as he made them zero gravity for a moment to think. Jaimie pulled her spear out and used it as a lightning rod disabling their defenses.

Sirens started to wail out as the defenses were breached. Astral saw a hard shell start covering the building as his wings fired to life. He grabbed Jaimie by the waist as he sliced a hole in the building. Flying inward as Jaimie grabbed her spear on the way in the building. It was pitch black as the power was off.

Both suits flared to life as the room became perfectly clear for them. "We need to head to the core of the building."

"And how would we do that?" Jaimie looked down at him as he held his Murasama and started slicing downward. Astral created a hole to the core as he sealed it behind him and Jaimie. In the core was a different story.

They landed on the central platform as something spoke out to them. "Halt." Both Jaimie and Astral froze in place as they looked over to the voice. A hovering blue orb was there. The same one from the battle tournament that escorted them there.

"Ah, it's you two, weren't you supposed to die in the tournament?" The orb spoke down at them as they were still immobile. "We brought in the biggest threats possible to stop you and it wasn't enough. Looks like we will have to take matters into our own hands eventually." A sword came flying from above as it sliced the orb in two.

Astral blitzed the orb with the claymore that fell from the sky. Slicing the godly orb into bits. His suit vanished as his eyes turned red. A ball of cyan energy formed in his left hand as he released it into the remains of the orb. It vanished into thin air as a hole was formed in the building and the dome. Stretching into the distance and shattering a nearby moon.

"Astral we have to leave before it's too late!" Jaimie yelled as Astral hugged her.

"All I felt was anger and wanting to protect you and everyone." He started to sob into her arms. Jaimie instantly went from being mad to cradling her husband in her arms.

"Freeze!" There was one man who yelled at the two of them as he held a weapon up. Where was the god, what had the two done?

All that was seen was a flash of white light that blinded him. More guards came running in after it happened. "Kaenester, what will we do? He was what guided us."

Kaenester laughed for a moment. "We adapt. Hire the best bounty hunters on the market for too much money. Have them work with our advisors. Our droids will keep the fodder at bay for now."

"But, if something can kill a god, we aren't more difficult." the guard spoke. Kaenester snapped.

"They have no reason to outright kill us, peace is our best bet at the moment. Try getting that station out in the sticks that appeared in communication and good terms with us. Ask the cartels if they have a man or two to spare with combat experience." Kanenester turned and faced them. "I meant do that now, and for fucks sake, fix the hole, get a crew to repair it."

Everyone started to sprint away, they could have won the war with the numbers advantage with the droids and that godly vision. But now they have to settle for peace. Under an unified banner and with help.

Astral and Jaimie sat in the office of the emperor. "He is off on a senate meeting, we have approximately twenty minutes." Astral's voice was quiet.

"Hey, the wrath of the gods is its own issue we can deal with later." Lone walked out as he snagged his claymore back.

"You think so?" Jaimie asked.

"That wasn't a true god, just a monitor orb. It's like a TV for you. Like the filming of the robotic world you took down. Watching from the safety of drones." Lone examined his claymore. "But, they are enchanted with a barrier that only certain tools can shatter."

"I have finally developed the true weakness of it all. Granted, I am not sure if it was my void energy that split the barrier or the enchantment. Godly enchants are generally stronger than the monitors." Lone stated as he put the claymore on his back.

"So we only have one other way to test it. Against a god tier opponent." Jaimie had all the information on the empire.

"Or a powerful enough magic spell." Lone and Jaimie looked at Astral who stared at the door.

"Have we sent the information to the Red Merle?" Jaimie nodded as Astral asked. "Thanks for the save Lone, but that test may have to wait just a little longer." Lone nodded as he fell back into the pocket dimension. "Time for another adventure?" Astral extended his hand as Jaimie took it.
