Chapter 202 - Subsequent Fall Part 42: Poor Man's War

Lavish looked at what happened. Three people took down an army. "How?" Anger flooded the room as his butler was on the other side of the door. He grabbed his phone as he made a call. The conversation turned sour as all the butler heard was whatever the price needed to be, he would pay.

Proto and Omaha spearheaded the rehabilitation efforts of the civilian population. They were the ones routing the supplies in smaller doses between the major cities that funneled them back to the smaller outskirt towns.

Airsoft worked on the development of the frontline that kept the elites inside of their compound, it was large enough to sustain itself with the help of its stockpile, since the first day, no other combat had taken place, like they were waiting for something.

Once they had the planet catching up on their calorie intake and the rebellion of their major utilities to be used for themselves, taking back their fields and making it a place where they can start to self sustain themselves.

Airsoft looked to the skies, nothing caught them off guard as their transports were quick, but something new hovered above the colony of rich and sheltered elites, battleships, wait. "Something isn't right." He pressed a button on his wrist gauntlet and tapped into Achilles's direct line of communication. "They hired backup."

"And? Can your legions not handle them?" Achilles scoffed unimpressed by these actions.

"No, they can, but it will become a lot more deadly, operation fallen star is the protocol code for a foe with mechs right?" Airsoft asked as Achilles stood from his chair.

"You want me to prepare a ship to crush them?" Achilles quietly asked.

"Nope, just use our mechs and we can beat them with what we have here." Airsoft saw mechs being deployed. "I will get back to you in a minute, if I call again, you will be ready right?"

"Begrudgingly, yes." Achilles hung up the call as he started preparing the requirements for fallen star, the mechs were not as powerful as Zeta at peak power, however. Ten of them could take down a clone legion if they were required to, Achilles prepped thirty.

"Omaha, Proto, where are the two of you, we need to prepare us three for a counterpush from the elites." Airsoft looked out to the battlefield as their artillery became useless without destroying major morale that they care for the people they now abandoned.

"We can be there in less than two hours." Proto turned their jet around and banked hard to get back to the front line, Viper was overseeing the flight routes and the dogfights of all the fighters to provide the edge they needed with the lesser numbers.

The elite with their hired hands prepared all of their forces at one point, prepared to smash through and decimate the current operation setup right outside of their location. Airsoft had the countermeasures in play as Zane stood at the bridge, the two of them watching the aerial battleships. "Where did they even come from?"

"No clue, but if they came from deep space, they are strong, I have every unit prepared for every avenue of possibility." Airsoft looked out among the heavy weapons that are locked down and prepared for every needed possibility.

"Is there a possibility that we are overprepared?" Zane asked as Airsoft shook his head.

"Damn near impossible, either they have enough people focused on one spot where the frontline is going to be brutal while the flanks stalemate. Or" Airsoft left it open to interpretation.

"Or its a distraction to let something else more sneaky to slip by and destroy us in a sneak attack elsewhere, the outer line has been monitored. They can't sneak by." Zane looked across the cameras as everything was still neutral.

"They wouldn't be that bullheaded to go straight through? Maybe they think they can soften the outside of it all if they draw us in?" Zane rambled on as it clicked for the two of them. "Do our shields protect us from the weapons on board those ships?"

"They should, however, I hold no promises. All I know is when they move they are using their ships as the spearhead." Airsoft looked as he kept the coordinates of their ships up to date. "They are playing bold. Look at their defenses, they have it as weak as possible." Airsoft recognized the issue they were about to run into, it doesn't matter if they took all of the area on the ground, those battleships are their key.

"All forces, spread out more along the perimeter and charge inward!" Airsoft yelled as the elite's forces charged out into a bulk of the forces Airsoft had. Once the fighting began, there would be no stopping until they took down those battleships.

Proto and Omaha were hard nosed on the frontline surrounded by clones as the gunfire went over their cover. "We can't win with those fucking battleships existing." Omaha yelled over to Proto.

"We need to take one of them down." Proto heard a break in the shooting and fired seven rounds from his sniper rifle and took down seven of them as he wondered about creating an opening.

The suppressing fire from the elite forces of Lavish started as they heard loud earth shaking footsteps. Proto peeked up and saw mechs, his brain realized they were from the battle tournament. Opening the bolt on his rifle he loaded a lightspeed round. Chambering it he dashed outwards as it shot the cover where he was. Behind a pillar he fired the round through the cockpit of the mech. Killing the pilot while the mech tracked where the round came from.

Omaha fired a rocket into the side of the mech as it raised its rifle to Proto and his cover. Blasting the mech apart the two looked at each other. "Commander, you can hold the frontline correct?"

"Madam, you shall have no worries with the best on the job." The commander responded as he waved for his hand to open fire freely and allow the artillery to start their barrage on the frontline as Proto and Omaha slipped past their defenses.

Getting past everyone was not difficult till they needed to get up to the ship. A mech was at the base of it. They had no way to get around it as they looked up into the sky, glimmers of light were coming into the area.

"Lavish, my forces are top of the line, they should be more than capable of taking out these so called rebel groups." A grizzled voice called out to him.

"It's not just rebel forces I fear, they are too organized for that." Lavish spoke out.

"If they die, it costs you double."

"You will be taking it from my cold dead hands."

"That can be arranged."

Lavish paused for just a moment, losing all care for the planet his family had worked so hard to control. "I want you do deploy all the troops aboard all three ships, not just a handful?"

"Aww, are you that scared of a couple of rebels and their organizational skills?" The man on the other line was getting cocky and bold.

"YES!" Lavish shouted as he was furious that he was the one begging for help rather than the other way around. "If you deploy all of your forces, I am sure we win and can put the planet back under our control."

"Very well, General, are all hands aboard the three ships ready to be deployed?" The man asked. Lavish became anxious in the background, over fifty percent of the capital city has been taken.

"No they are not Jaqueis."

"Handsome Jaqueis to you General Abalon. Say it correctly or when you return." Silence filled the air as a click was heard from his side, he hung up on them.

"Deploy all forces" Abalon gave the command as all the pods started firing from the underside of the battleships, several hundred mechs were launched as Airsoft pressed the button on his gauntlet as Achilles and ten mechs launched.

The mechs were able to decimate the clones while taking minimal losses versus the foes that were taking over the city. Distress calls were being heard from all types of clone channels as Zane and Airsoft could do nothing but sit in pain.

The glimmer came in closer as Proto and Omaha ducked into a building for cover. Crashing through one of the ships engine bay, it detonated it while Abalon and Lavish were surprised. It was here as Abadon looked down in horror, it was what killed their best pilot so long ago.

"ALL MECHS RETURN TO THE SHIPS, IT IS HERE! CODE CYAN, CODE CYAN!" Avalon's shouting deafoned Lavish as Zeta pulled out his railgun and fired five rounds into the second ships engines, downing it as it crashed into the cities civic center and rehabilitation institute.

"Proto, Omaha, board that ship and take it down from the inside." The mech at the base of the ship opened fire at Zeta as he spoke, the bullets deflecting off the armor as Zeta aimed his rifle at the mech and destroyed it. "Hurry, it'll be swarmed here soon enough." The two of them nodded as they fired their cable guns and boarded the ship.
