Chapter 104 - Astral's Rise Part 56: Australian Theatre

Australia was the only place on the planet that didn't give in right away, the US got hit harder and Aussies took the inspiration to hold out until help arrived. Unfortunately for them the waves apon waves of Sacramentum were relentless. They were on their last straw.

"Sal, this is your pilot and eyes in the sky, Sydney and Melbourne are the hold points. Split apart and hold the line." Astrid echoed through the transports. "Jax, you need to rally the people before the Sacramentum realizes what we are doing."

"Just be me, got it!" Jax jumped from the transport, gunning down five Tizzles on his way to the ground, using an Apparazza to cushion his fall. Rolling to the front line of the Australian forces he looked over. "The time is now to push them back." He turned to his right and started opening fire as the shuttle hovered over the battlefield. The one thousand troops flooded the area. Supporting key positions and flanks.

Sal watched this. "Boy's listen up, we three hundred are in charge of taking that ship down. Once they lose that, it will be over. Brace for impact." He spoke as the Shuttle rammed through the hull of the large carrier ship. Same with the rest of his forces. They all funneled out of the opening and readied themselves.

The hallways filled with Sacramentum soldiers as Sal and the others used their deployable barriers to protect themselves from the oncoming fire. Ducking behind cover the ten shuttles were blasted off the hull of the ship. Leaving the three hundred stranded as they felt lost.

"Everyone, down the south path on the radar, once we are together we can get to our objective faster!" Sal gave the command as the message rang through the comms system they all got clear of the openings from the shuttles. Moments after clearing out a bombing run was launched into each hole of the shuttles.

Jax was ruthless on the ground, every Sacramenton enemy had their eyes fixated on him. "Sidney, report!" He hailed through his comms as his sidearm blew off the head of an Apparazza charging him.

"Sidney is down, half of your forces here are swamped, I'm here bailing them out for now but no guarantees we can hold forever." Zane's voice warmed Jax's ears as he began pushing through the Sacramentum with ease, each bullet finding its home and each shot hitting its target. He was unstoppable, he needed to help Zane, if Sal can take down that carrier in between them that would greatly help the two of them.

Sal and his forces were in the engine room of the carrier, being pushed from two sides as his forces were pinched by the Sacramentum. "Surrender, you all have fought well!" There was a break in the action as Sal looked around, only he and one hundred others still were standing.

"Sal, I repeat, Swan Dive is ready, your window is thirty seconds." Astrid spoke to him in a whisper. A spare mag of his hit the ground as the thud echoed around the chamber.

"If you think you will ever take us alive, you have it wrong. Drop the explosives now!" Each unit threw their backpack to the ground of the engine bay. Extending their shields and covering the sides as Sal looked at the detonator. "Be on time!" Clicking it the explosions went off as a hole was created, there it was, their way out. "Jump!"

All of his men looked down as they fell from the platform. Sal used two rifles to cover fire as the core around him started to combust. Once he saw he was the last one, he leaned back and fell into the jelly to catch the crew as the reactor went off. Exploding the ship visible for all to see.

"Swan Dive was successful. That's the last ship in the atmosphere." Astrid took a breath of relief as Alexa rested a hand on her.

"Jax, if you are clear, we are heading to Sydney and meeting up with Zane." Sal gave the command to head to the city as Jax's shuttles were following him.

"Nice distraction, however be a bit faster next time." Jax laughed through the radio as they raced to Sydney.

"You two can joke later after you get here." Zane spoke as the gunfire sounded harsh on his side. They flew as fast as possible and were able to drop in all around Zane in a matter of seconds.

The Sacramentum were stunned, how could this happen to mere humans. Their backline was being breached by Zane, Sal and Jax at the same time as they sent a small clutch of soldiers to help evacuate anyone else across Australia. Half of them wanted to keep fighting alongside these goliaths of battle, and the other half agreed to journey with them across space.

Once the Sacramentum commander was killed the three looked at each other, their smiles hidden beneath their helmets. "That was an experience." Jax spoke. "Wait, Zane weren't you dispatched with Jaimie to start?"

"Yeah, she had it handled though, between the cold and the forces she was able to walk through europe without any extra help." Zane gave the two a thumbs up. Resting his hand on Sal who stayed silent.

"Don't let those people who died rest on you, we all know what we have signed up for." Jax spoke, trying to ease his comrade's mind.

"That doesn't have me worried, Astral is going to need our help, and we are the only one in position." Sal spoke as he pulled up the battlemap on his wrist gauntlet. All of California was flooded with red dots as Astral's tracker was going crazy over the battlemap.

"Jaimie is already on her way there as a support option for if Astral launches his cyan flare." Zane noted, highlighting the green marker on the map. He saw what was happening and wanted to swoop it for himself. "All those who are still standing across Australia who are willing to fight. We head east!" The cheers from the troops filled the transports as they got ready to help up.

"Zane watch out, massive ice pillars…" Sal and Jax watched as a giant wave of ice froze the pacific oceans surface with a flick of a wrist. "Overdrive it."

"Stop telling me how to do my job!" Zane slapped both Sal and Jax's hands before pressing a handful of buttons, before slamming down a bar. "All forces head back to the Red Merle!" The troops stood confused as Sal and Jax took up the spots as gunners along the sides of the gunship.
