Chapter 71 - Astral's Rise Part 25: Lone

Lone was a very simple man of a simple time. His daily routine consisted of having breakfast with his amazing and loving family. After breakfast he would head to his forge. Generally working on requests from the kingdom. He would spend all day here, day after day, even as the kingdom started to decline he would work hard for his family. Until one day.

He elevated his skills and started to work on a personal set of armor. While assembling these pieces of armor he learned how to enhance it past normal means. He would head to the local library one day and see what this magic was.

He would read a book about the basics and realized that the kingdom, now succeeded by a different one. Would be using his weapons to be enchanted. They had high natural affinity with how pure Lone was as a man, a hard working family man. Lone would have completed a full set for himself. Knives galore with a massive claymore. A small broadsword and shield that expands, with several portable spears. All enchanted with different perks and abilities. Most items even had multiple overlapping enchants. Then it happened.

There was a rumor going around the kingdom that a massive titan like creature had been destroying their civilization to make room for his own. The day came where it came straight to the kingdom Lone had been in. It ripped through every household and building until it reached Lone. "You won't hurt my family!" Lone would have rammed the being out of his house, just to see the person behind him.

"Oh, this family. Shame that they look tasty." Titan would be holding his two teen children in one set of his arms and his wife in the other. Motioning to bite off his wife's head, Lone sprung into action. With his great claymore he cleaved off Titans arms and skull before kicking him into the castle. Lone looked to his family as they dropped to the ground. They became crushed by Titan's hands.

Hurt way beyond modern medicine. Lone saw their bodies destroyed and crumpled like balls of paper. Titan would walk back slowly as Lone was on his knees. Cackling in laughter, Titan looked at the collapsed man. "Aww, is your life crushed now?" Titan would reach to grab Lone feeling a searing pain strike his arm.

"I will not let you do this to anyone again." Lone's Claymore looked like it was pure void. He filled it with all of his hatred and anger to fuel his vengeance. Titan would reel backwards in fear, nothing had made him hurt. Let alone someone keeping up with his speed. Titan would launch a series of punches to try and keep Lone back. Lone would use these swings flung in folly to slowly chip away at Titan's body.

First he lost a finger, then a hand, then his entire left arm. All of it was not regenerating fast. Titan would try to escape by running away before being impaled by a spear of void. Titan would be face down on the ground and try to get up as he was pinned by more spears to the ground. "Now you shall suffer." Lone's voice trailed off as his slices felt so natural striking down Titan and finishing him off.

Lone fell to the ground after finishing off Titan, his life was now hollowed and incomplete. Everything he had built was taken from him by one person. Day crept over the scene and battlescape as the kingdom approached Titan's decaying body and a man in full armor.

The knights helped Lone to a sitting position, he would have a sip of water, still devastated. Nothing could bring back his family, so he thought. The kingdom slathered him in riches beyond comprehension. Lone still lived at his same home even after the events that transpired.

He dove into the scholar's archive, learning as much as possible, for resurrection and any spells to keep him sane. Each day he heard their screams and they would haunt him. After finding nothing he prepared to end it all.

The orange orb would float down as Lone held the claymore to his neck. "Don't you want an opportunity to bring back your loved ones?" It asked as Lone swung his claymore through the orb. The blade would just phase through as lone stood still for a moment to try and dissect any trap from the orb.

"You can win an item that will bring back your family, this item is far beyond even what you can make. All you have to do is partake in our tournament." The orb swirled back into form as Lone's eyes glared into what soul he could muster of the god.

"Deal." Lone stated as his armor gleamed. He would put it all on and the helmet and be ready. What he saw on the other side he didn't prepare for. Once they got to the tournament Lone would demolish everyone in the first phase. No one could keep up with his sheer speed and strength, despite some of the opponents being the most powerful ever to the tournament, many past winners were here.

Once the gods made the bracket to the tournament Lone realized the issue. Titan was on the other side, he was dead wasn't he? Lone stood confused as all the first round fights happened. When it came to him, he decapitated the swordsman dressed in a weird haori.

The confusion slowly brewed into an unquenchable anger. One that sent the rest of the tournament into a tilt. Titan could blow through everyone like no one's business, he was using everything to his advantage, he wanted another chance of taking down Lone.

Lone was satisfied seeing him across to him for the finals. The anger would explode from Lone once the fight started. The claymore's blade being fully enchanted and consumed by anger and hate that Titan failed to regenerate from any attack made on him.

Titan didn't go down without a fight. All of the blows that Lone did to him he hit back twice as hard with. It didn't phase Lone as his armor wasn't scratched yet Titan had only his torso left before being impaled by a spear in the skull and heart.

Lone did it, the gods gave him the glove and won it. He would spend a natural time with his family after bringing them back. Using one last thing from the glove before ditching it, would be him aging a year for every time the universe resets itself.

Lone stashed the glove after he figured out all the subtle secrets to the universe, he was able to enjoy his family to the fullest. The time spent with them was now treasured as each cycle he would be without them for eternity. Wanting to see if anyone could solve his problem he watched. The closest one was Mike, but he lacked the goal. Needing to prove to him he would do more than just narrowly win versus the weakest Titan.

Astral was in wonder and awe. He wanted to be what he needed to be and had no way to perfect it. Astral saw what Lone wanted him to see. Being flashed back to reality Astral would act off of instinct.
