Chapter 56 - Astral's Rise Part 12: Round 7

"As long as I am alive. I will make it my goal to make sure no one dies." Astral would tightly hug her. There was an odd feeling he had, those words would echo inside of his head.

Anders looked at Astral and would ask. "What about your choice of words during the fight? What compelled you to say those?"

"Eh, I am in the moment. Once the flow of the battle begins I feel free to say what I want. Especially because either they die and will remember me or I will kill them and it won't matter." Astral spoke on it.

"Don't let that arrogance be the death of you however. Realize many of the tougher people will absolutely banter back and forth, be careful and use your abilities to your advantage. You still have Zeta as a weapon. Use him." Astral would be looking up at the timer.

"I agree Adam, weird gut feeling. Zeta will be the missing link to saving me during this." With one minute left on the timer he smiled at the rest. "Zeta will be truly tested now. I expect nothing but flying colors for him." With a polite little wave he would hop up and go back to the stage.

He always liked being an entertainer. But this was a different expectation than what he signed up for. When he looked across and saw a mech and its pilot he smiled. "Showtime." looking at the other two he would wait for the signal from the gods.

"Begin" The gods would speak, Astral would slowly start approaching the two of them. They would open fire on him with several rockets and rifle rounds. His suit fired to life as he walked through it.

"Oh kiddos, don't you know if you take on a tech genius to have a bigger gun?" Astral would look at his armor hud. Not a scratch laid on his armor or his shielding. Giggling, he would keep walking forward.

They panicked as the pilot hopped into the mech's cockpit. Pulling out its sword. Astral would stand still waiting for the blade to be close enough. They charged and would swing the blade down onto Astral. Who blocked it with his katana.

In the mech's other hand held a gun. Being pointed directly at Astral, he looked up at the giant barrel as he rolled back and avoided the gunfire. Astral would stand up and press a button. The mech closed the gap swinging downward onto Astral.

With a flash of light, Protocol Beacon was lit. Zeta was standing behind Astral holding a sword blocking the other mech's from harming Astral. His suit vanished once more as he looked up to the other mech.

"Fancy machine you got there. Too bad I have one that's much better." Zeta's hatch had opened up and Astral hopped right in. The gods were baffled. Did he just summon it from thin air? Zeta's hatched closed with a loud thud. With full control of the mech he was ready to test out its abilities.

Astral's knuckles cracked as the other mech backpedaled and would subjugate the area with rocketfire. Zeta would stand there taking each missile. The shield gleaming off of the mech causing both the pilot and mech to shudder as Zeta looks like he is vibrating.

The other mech had no more choices. If close quarters and special abilities weren't working then what about a fullside of unimaginable fire? The mech would pull out a minigun from nowhere.

"Where did he get a minigun Zeta?" Astral's fake awe would be finished as Zeta grabs the sheet metal from earlier and uses it as a shield. The bullets failed to penetrate. "If it can't crack this, it won't even touch you!" Astral would pep up Zeta as he whirr's in glee.

"Permission to launch an attack?" Zeta would ask as Astral pressed the yes button. It would launch the shield at the mech who would narrowly dodge it hopping right. Zeta closed the gap. Connecting a punch straight into the frame of the mech, knocking it back as it rolls backwards onto its feet.

The other mech would then throw the minigun to distract Zeta. Who would grab it and throw it to the side. The mech then would try a three slash attack. Blocking all three successfully Zeta and Astral would have parried the last one.

Slicing the non dominant arm of the other mech. The static electricity from the mech's severed arm would be seen as well as other fluids leaking. Regardless, the mech would keep going.

Many other slashes would come at Zeta who would block them learning more about his own movements. The other mech looked super robotic, comparing it to the near human movements of Zeta.

Astral would be flexing the different movements trying to do every possible motion. Just freely running circles around the mech itself to start. He saw how natural Zeta moved around.

"You are doing great buddy." Astral would give it light little taps on the control boards smiling. Zeta's eyes lit up with hearts for the praise. He was joyful in what Astral and him could do. Zeta imagined himself as human and would do stretching motions while under fire from the other mech.

Zeta would be enjoying his experiences with Astral as the two agreed that each of them finally had enough of this fight and were ready to be done. Astral pressed the kill button and got ready to move on.

With each clash of the sword, Zeta only learned more as the battle progressed and the other mech slowed down. Hopping backward it was time for Zeta to test out his weapon, the machine railgun. Pulling it off of his back he would aim at the core of the mech and open fire.

The three round burst was more than enough to destroy the mech completely. There was nothing but scrap remaining as Astral would jump out and hug Zeta before sending him back to the pocket dimension. The flash of light faded as fast as it came. The gods had just seen how inventive this man is. Too bad his best inventions are yet to come.
