Chapter 39 - Advent of Astral Part 35: Romans

Astral and Jaimie would sail north to the portside city of Genoa. Arriving safely as the two of them would head to Capua. The gladiator duels there rivaling that of what Astral or Jaimie had ever experienced. They would watch the first fight in the new arena as they slowly developed their name. Jaimie as the owner of the house and Astral as their head gladiator.

They would get the early fights as Astral taught the new recruits how to fight. They slowly gained ground and were considered one of the three top houses in the area. Astral being undisputedly the greatest among the houses.

Astral would rarely fight. But would buy slaves in droves as he expanded the army that he would give to Spartacus. Jaimie on the other hand would be the figurehead of the operation. She ran the numbers they needed to be self-sustaining.

As for the slaves, their needs would be met. Their growing number meant that each trained individual is worth two of each Roman in the right hands. Only a handful of actual gladiators would fight. Some would die others would not. Astral was happy with the progress that was made.

When the house of Batiatus fell and Spartacus fled. Jaimie would send ten gladiators at a time to reinforce him. Astral would stay and train more gladiators while dominating the arena.

They would go far and wide being able to buy boats full of prisoners of war and strong slaves from all over. More of the veteran gladiators would stand beside Astral and Jaimie as they helped a cause they believed in.

Jaimie and Astral's cover was blown as the Romans found a clutch of gladiators going to aid Spartacus. They then went to stop Jaimie and Astral once and for all. Astral with his one thousand gladiators was able to push off the roman attack on their complex. Jaimie taking up arms for the first time. Showing the gladiators she wouldn't stand idle but fight alongside her equals.

The legion that was dispatched to take down Jaimie and Astral went unsuccessfully. Spartacus and his forces were pinned on Mount Vesuvius as Astral and Jaimie launched a surprise attack on the Roman praetor Glaber. Falling swiftly Astral and Spartacus teamed up as their numbers slowly swelled.

They had a full on revolution on their hands. Jaimie and Astral were happy to play a critical part in it. Spartacus with the help of Astral and Jaimie were able to not only take the Reggio, where Spartacus and his legions were held out, but go southward and take Sicily. Providing a much needed boost of goods and supplies to their forces.

Astral would be onboard one of the pirate ships as they betrayed the rebellion by being outbid by Crassus, who would inform Pompei of the sea movement. Detaching ten ships, Astral would use his one ship and hijack the other naval boats from Pompei, being able to escort the goods from Sicily to Reggio.

Caesar would try to infiltrate Reggio. Apon seeing Caesar Jaimie challenged him to single combat. If he wins, he can stay as long as he wants. If Jaimie wins, she can decapitate him. He was not intimidated by her and accepted the challenge.

The duel would be hosted inside of the town square for all to see. Jaimie's men would cheer on their leader. The rest of the crowd was neutral. Caesar was a competent duelist when it came to swordplay, but Jaimie instilled the look of fear in his eyes once she parried his first flurry of blows. Stabbing her sword into the ground motioning to Caesar to bring it.

Caesar came at her as she closed the gap and forced his sword into his foot. Reeling back he would drop his blade and she would stab it into the ground next to his. He looked up to her and would begin to launch punches to no avail.

Astral and his ship fleet would arrive in port as the Roman prisoners were the ones to row the boat. He was successful and was able to hear the ongoing festivities from the port. He communicated to his right hand man to slowly work on bringing the product into the city.

Jaimie would beat Caesar within an inch of his life. Holding him by his scruff he would lower his head between the two crossed blades. "This my friends is not any slave, but Julius Caesar." She stated as the crowd gasped. His neck resting on the blades.

"A friend of Rome and a friend of Crassus is no friend of ours." She waved everyone over to stab him. It would only be fitting. His screaming agony echoing through the city as they all cheer. Jaimie would rest her foot on his head and slam it down. Crushing his beheaded skull beneath her boot.

Astral looked over to her. "One down, two to go. Pompey is next followed by Crassus and the rest of Rome!" Cheers would echo as the crowds chanted Jamie throughout the night. Less informed that Pompey is now finished his conquest and his sights on the homeland.

Smiling after a week's time Pompey's legion besieged the city. Astral led Jaimie and his eleven ships against the Roman fleet. He had one goal, get close and down ships from the inside out. Instructing everyone to hop from ship to ship in order to take down Pompey.

Astral was successful as he and Jaimie would keep the fleet battle in chaos, not knowing what ships to fire at and what ships to not fire at. Spartacus and his army had less problems. The Romans burnt down the gate as they charged through. The line was held as the legion tried to push through.

Pompey was sending signals to the fleet as many of the boats sat idle for too long. Then the barrage of bastilla fire and catapults came apon his location. Killing Pompey meant Crassus had to retreat and protect Rome.

The rest of the Romans fled with Crassus to spearhead one final defense. Astral and Jaimie led the seaside assault as Spartacus and his men charged straight at Crassus and the remaining roman forces.

Spartacus launched flanking maneuvers and Crassus became surrounded as Astral and Jaimie came in from the sea. He was outmatched and swiftly fell as Rome fell before his eyes. Crassus was captured and had gold poured down his throat as a form of punishment.

Astral reformed the system and made it fair based on his experiences before fading into obscurity. Jaimie would disappear with him as Spartacus was set to lead the Empire and told to step down after four years. No one held office for more than eight years and people were randomly selected for council.

The general's of this empire knew the rules well. They did not waver and realized that Jaimie and Astral could still be out there. They dare not risk it as the world becomes unified under one banner. Civil wars would happen with generals having disputes from time to time. The powers of balance never changed for the central government. It always cycled between new faces.

Astral and Jaimie would sit with Anders on a beachside house in Sicily enjoying the weather, view and the earth's unified empire. The two of them held it in high regard. Watching their civilization grow, the US being the only one to not comply and becoming their own state.
